Overview

The hotel business functions seven days a week, 24 hours a day. All Team Members must realize this fact and be aware that at all times it may be necessary to move Team Members from their accustomed shift as business demands change. In addition, this is a hospitality business and a hospitable service atmosphere must be projected at all times.

POSITION SUMMARY

In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the overall maintenance and repair of the entire property, including resort buildings, grounds, essential mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, as well as the infrastructure and operational systems of our esteemed golf club. You will lead a dedicated team, ensuring the highest standards of safety, functionality, and aesthetic appeal are consistently maintained across all areas, contributing directly to guest and member satisfaction and the resort & golf club's reputation for excellence.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Leadership and Team Management:

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of maintenance technicians and golf course maintenance support staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment across all maintenance disciplines.
• Plan, schedule, and supervise the work of the maintenance teams, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and timely completion of tasks for both the resort and the golf club.
• Conduct regular team meetings, provide performance feedback, and identify training needs specific to resort and golf course maintenance.
• Manage external contractors and vendors, ensuring quality of work and adherence to service agreements for both resort and golf club needs.
• Among others.

Preventative Maintenance and Operational Efficiency (Resort & Golf Club):

• Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive preventative maintenance programs for resort buildings, equipment, and golf course infrastructure (e.g., irrigation systems, pumps, maintenance equipment) to minimize downtime, extend asset lifespan, and optimize operational efficiency across the entire property.
• Conduct regular inspections of the property and equipment (including golf course-specific equipment) to identify potential issues and proactively address them.
• Among others.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field) preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in maintenance management, with experience in both hospitality/resort and golf course maintenance operations strongly preferred.
• Proven experience in managing and leading diverse maintenance teams, including those with golf course-specific expertise.
• Strong technical knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety, life safety) and golf course infrastructure (irrigation, drainage, pumps).
• Familiarity with golf course maintenance equipment and practices is highly desirable.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and manage budgets effectively for multiple operational areas.
• Strong understanding of safety regulations and best practices relevant to both resort and golf course environments.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in using maintenance management software (CMMS) is an advantage.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Your Role: Director, Engineering & Maintenance

The Engineering Director oversees engineering and maintenance, ensuring cost-effective and timely services while managing the site's capital plan. This role supervises engineering and maintenance staff across various disciplines (process, automation, reliability, projects, facilities), focusing on staff productivity, development, and ensuring compliant equipment and systems for manufacturing. As a site lead team member, the Director collaborates across functions to support the technical agenda, business plan, strategic planning, and compliance objectives.

Your Responsibilities:

• Safety and Leadership:  Champion a safety-first culture and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams (Operations, QA/QC, Regulatory, Supply Chain, Finance, HSE, etc.). Participate in leadership meetings, reviews, and business planning. Lead and support site and community engagement.

• Personnel Management:  Oversee engineering staff, including coaching, performance reviews, development plans, recruitment, resource allocation, and succession planning. Identify training needs and develop team skill sets. Support the security function of the site.

• Financial and Performance Management:  Monitor financial performance against targets. Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs). Drive continuous improvement and remove performance barriers. Oversee capital and maintenance budgets.

• Compliance and Quality:  Ensure adherence to regulations (including CFR 9 and USDA), Good Engineering Standards, Elanco Global Quality Standards, and other relevant corporate directives. Manage and develop reliability programs and equipment strategies to minimize downtime.

• Facilities and Equipment Management:  Oversee the Integrated Facilities Maintenance (IFM) provider, ensuring effective maintenance, cost-saving initiatives (energy/water conservation), and a safe, well-maintained facility. Manage projects on time and within budget.

What You Need to Succeed (minimum qualifications):

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field.

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role.

• Strong understanding of Commissioning and Qualification processes and ability to function in a team environment as a leader and as a member of the site leadership team.

What Will Give You the Competitive Edge (preferred qualifications):

• Knowledge of freeze drier, fermentation, and fill line technologies.

• Understanding of validation activities associated with vaccine process, technology transfer and process validation.

• Exposure to Lean Six Sigma principles.

• Experience with multiple Engineering Disciplines including Maintenance and Reliability, Capital Project Execution, Process Engineering and Process Automation (OT) in a regulated industry.

• State of Maine Stationary Steam License (Minimum Fourth Class)

• Protects employees and visitors by maintaining a safe and clean working environment.

• Completes maintenance operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees. Ensures work results.

• Ensures repairs of handling equipment so it is clean, safe, fully-operational and in good repair.

• Assess future repair needs of equipment and coordinates repairs.

• Direct department activities to design new products, modify existing designs, improve production techniques, and develop test procedures.

• Provide a comprehensive energy plan, which includes: Energy consumption, defined rate goals, strategies, action plans, conservation plans and utilization effectiveness.

• Maintain a working knowledge of new technologies, which may improve operations, and develops recommendations accordingly.

• Maintain a working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner.

• Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local environment, health, safety and HR regulations/procedures along with ensuring that all tasks are carried out in a safe and healthful manner with no adverse impact upon the environment.

• Works with General Manager to develop annual budgets

• Works with General Manager to ensure Departmental financial goals are met.

• Works with General Manager to Develop Capital Expense budgets and provide long term planning for facility and equipment improvements.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

What Experience and Education You Need :

• High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED).

• Completion of all eight (8) RETA courses.

• HAZMAT certification.

• Five to eight years in warehouse maintenance management experience.

• 3 years general supervisory/management experience

• Requires the ability to successfully complete the requirements of the Americold Certified Maintenance Manager program within 6 (six) months of start date of employment

Job Description

You perform highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain the property’s facilities and equipment to ensure a safe and functional environment for the guests.

• Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service
• Ensure the overall maintenance of the of the facility
• Respond to guest room calls for general maintenance issues
• Act as a member of the Emergency Response Team, responding in cases of fire, accident, safety concerns and calls for medical assistance
• Light plumbing, electrical, guest door lock repair
• Correct and report any fire hazards or health and safety hazards
• Maintain all actions in a Daily Activity Maintenance logs
• Assist guests regarding hotel facilities in an informative and helpful way
• Follow department policies, procedures and service standards
• Follow all safety policies 
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a Maintenance role required
• Computer literate in Microsoft Window applications not required but helpful
• Must have electrical, plumbing and basic maintenance skills
• Must be able to read, write, speak English fluently
• Adhere to Fairmont Scottsdale Princess Grooming Guidelines. 
• Relevant building maintenance experience is an asset
• Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
• Highly responsible & reliable
