As a Technical Engineering Project Manager, you will have the opportunity to lead diverse water projects in the Kansas City and surrounding region, as well as on a national scale. Main responsibilities include:

Project Development Design

-Provides timely response to audit corrective actions identified by external or internal audits.

-Plans and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and application of standard engineering or construction techniques, procedures, and criteria.

-Provides guidance to drafters/designers, engineers, craft workers, other project team members, contractors or subcontractors.

Resource Management and Leadership

-Develops and implements project resource plan and manages the staffing of assigned projects.

-Determines and coordinates the proper staffing within the project including identification of outside resources needed (subs/vendors) and ensures procurement processes are followed.

  • Clearly communicates project deadlines, assignments and objectives to project team members.

-Assigns work and provides direction to project staff with regard to timeliness and completion of project objectives.

-Coaches project staff and provides feedback to staff and to project staff's supervisors on project performance; escalates any performance issues to appropriate management and human resources.

Client Service Management and Sales Collaboration

-Builds, maintains and manages strong client relationships.

Project Leadership & Management:

  • Lead the development of construction plans, contract documents, and technical reports. Define project scopes, prepare fee proposals, manage budgets, and coordinate resources to ensure timely, on-budget project delivery. Oversee project schedules and deliver monthly invoicing and detailed Project Status Reports (PSRs) to clients.
  • Stakeholder Coordination & Communication:
  • Serve as the main point of contact for sponsors, the FAA, and other key stakeholders. Coordinate meetings, prepare agendas and schedules, and document outcomes to ensure alignment and progress throughout the project lifecycle.

Documentation & Compliance:

  • Review client-provided documents, including as-builts and design reports, and coordinate subconsultants for surveys, geotechnical investigations, and other technical requirements. Ensure all projects comply with federal, state, and local grant application processes, as well as environmental regulations.
  • Bidding & Construction Support:
  • Manage the bidding process by organizing pre-bid meetings, preparing addenda, and reviewing bid proposals. Oversee change orders, conduct site visits during construction, and ensure quality standards are met.
  • Project Close-Out:
  • Review and approve final engineering drawings, summarize project costs, and conduct final inspections with the FAA and sponsors to ensure successful project completion.

Client & Team Management:

  • Lead cross-functional teams through all phases of project development. Build and maintain client relationships by identifying growth opportunities during the proposal and RFP/RFQ process. Collaborate with management on client satisfaction, risk management, and financial performance, while providing mentorship and guidance to team members.

Qualifications

Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering

  • 10-15+ years of relevant industry experience

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Deliver projects on time, within budget, and to approved specifications
  • Ensure engineering deliverables satisfy the project requirements within the scope of work to the required quality standards
  • Develop engineering proposals in conformance with client requests
  • Establish overall project execution plans, communication plans, and schedule Establish, monitor, and review budgets, schedules, and staffing requirements for internal project teams

  • Professional Registration (PE) is desired
  • Knowledge of paper machine equipment, processes, and operations is a plus
  • Successful experience with engineering, construction, pre-design, pre-construction, contract management, project delivery methods, team building, and building client relationships
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite of software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must possess exceptional organizational skills with emphasis on meeting customer deadlines
  • Must work well in a fast-paced, diverse, team environment
  • Able to travel as required, typically up to 25%
  • Must pass a drug test, physical, background check, and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
