The OSS maintains and enhances the safety, reliability, and performance of the US nuclear weapon stockpile. This full-time position is contingent upon contract award.
Essential Functions:
- Compile and track NA-122 container requirements.
- Initiate the process for Offsite Transportation Authorization (OTA) & Offsite Transportation Direction (OTD) transportation recertification as needed.
- Organize weapons related activities by
- coordinating the dissemination of knowledge to stakeholders with a
- need to know.
- Support logistics of information exchange with internal and external
- nuclear deterrent stakeholders.
- Support weapons vault custodian as appropriate.
- Prepare travel arrangements and meeting schedules for NA-19 leadership.

- Route for signature and track office packages.
- Be familiar with IDRIMS, CONCUR, and other NNSA software packages.

- Current and active DOE Q Clearance/Top Secret Clearance with ability to acquire an SCI.

Comply with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards where feasible, promote strong Safety and Occupational Health programs, safe working conditions, and safe performance to prevent mishaps, injuries, and occupational illnesses. An analysis of the reports will be conducted for the potential development of Industrial Safety Plans (ISP), equipment, systems, or material of benefit to CBC, DEVCOM, and the Research and Development (R&D) community.

Review approximately 25-50 SOPs, related CBR/TIC/TIM/AE Hazard Analyses, and related pre-operational surveys to ensure proper risk management controls are in place in order to safely conduct hazardous operations. Reviews will be documented electronically and incorporated into the Government’s SOP completion and tracking system within two weeks.

Include in the monthly status report information pertaining to the SOP title, number, date, date review conducted, major comments made, and date and disposition of review.

Conduct approximately 800 evaluations per year, of safety and industrial hygiene exposure assessments and evaluations to include assigned surety and chemical laboratory hoods and glove boxes.

Update Government database within 5 days of hood certification in accordance with CDRL A010. The evaluations will undergo trend analysis, thereby identifying operational improvements necessary for CBC and the R&D community in the handling of nuclear, biological and chemical materials.

Identify and monitor industrial hygiene Government test equipment and perform analysis of failed equipment.

Analyze faulty and out-of-tolerance ventilation systems and recommend upgrades to improve operating efficiency. The number and type of evaluations recorded will be included in each monthly report.

Provide onsite safety support to the CBC Explosive Destruction System (EDS) and Transportable Detonation Chamber operations as the Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) for the disposal of chemical agent filled munitions located at Aberdeen Proving Grounds and various U.S. Army and Air Force bases and depots throughout the United States through U.S. Army’s Recovered Chemical Warfare Material (RCWM); U.S. Army’s Element, Assembled Chemical Weapons Alternatives (ACWA); and U.S. Army’s North Atlantic Region Corps of Engineer (COE) programs. Overtime may be required in support of this program. Monitor site to ensure all safety and regulatory requirements are met in accordance with the site health and safety plan and internal operating procedures (IOP) as applicable.
