The Opportunity:
Electrical Engineering Group Leader: The Engineering Group Leader will lead assigned Project & Staff Engineers in execution of Mahrtu2019s annual capital investments and provide daily technical support to Maintenance and Operations in problem solving and troubleshooting of mill-wide assets. The Engineering Group Leader will lead direct reports in development, planning, execution, oversight & completion of 50-75 mill-wide capital investment & maintenance type projects annually. Areas of responsibility could include the Paper Machines, Utilities, Woodyard, Pulp Mill, Recaust, Sawmill, Shipping, and Environmental. The Electrical Engineering Group Leader will also support general mill safety and environmental goals, and other opportunities identified by Mill Leadership.
How You Will Impact Smurfit Westrock:
* Support and participate in the millu2019s Safety initiatives.
* Communicate and interact with all mill personnel, corporate employees, outside consultants as well as contractors, vendors, and suppliers to develop mill-wide capital investment opportunities.
* Interact with mill Maintenance, Engineering, Operations, Environmental, Health, Safety, Information Systems and Technical Departments to address specific mill needs through design and implementation of the most practical, safe, and economical technical solutions to problems.
* Provide leadership on special or self-conceived projects to optimize mill systems.
* Provide technical assistance on electrical equipment failures analysis and preservation.
* Lead assigned engineers to satisfy customersu2019 promised scope, budget and schedule while meeting all safety, design and reliability expectations. Be competent in time management, project management processes and possess the necessary leadership skills to direct engineers in satisfying customer needs.
* Provide oversight of projects through direct reports, consultants, contractors and maintenance personnel. Manage projectsu2019 design, purchasing, contract and construction management, documentation and finance. An understanding of the financial implications involved in decision making is important.
* Understand the WestRock Capital Project Lifecycle (CPL) for starting and ending capital projects. Prepare and manage all capital "Authorizations for Expenditure" through this framework.
* Administer and oversee Process Safety Management (PSM) / Management of Change (MOC) responsibilities within Engineering & in coordination with the Technical Group. Prepare, review and update mill specifications for "management of change" proposals.
* Support Mill Outage planning & oversight. Lead Extraordinary Maintenance & Rebuild type projects that include the Turbine Generator(s), Precipitators, Recovery Boilers, and Bark Boilers.
* Balance engineersu2019 workloads and enable their technical development through cross departmental assignments (i.e., work 75% in assigned area of responsibility / 25% in other mill areas).
* Inspire Project Engineers to assume greater roles of responsibility within Engineering, Operations and/or Maintenance.
What You Need to Succeed:
* Hold a B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering with at least 10-years of related experience in an industrial manufacturing environment. Pulp and Paper Industry preferred.
* Demonstrate strong interpersonal / team building skills and foster exceptional working relationships.
* Possess excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills, and adaptability to adjust to rapidly changing working environments and operational situations.
* Have the physical ability to work in a paper mill environment that includes light to moderate walking, lifting, climbing / heights, and ability to work in a hot, humid, and dusty environment.
* Be computer literate in word processing, spreadsheets, electronic mail, presentation graphics, etc.

The Samuel Ginn College of Engineering's, Electrical & Computer Engineering department is seeking candidates for the **Engineering Technician** position. This position will performs work associated with laboratory and/or research equipment installation, fabrication, maintenance, and/or repair.

The Samuel Ginn College of Engineering invites applications for a non-tenure-track Lecturer in Engineering. We are seeking applications from individuals with a minimum of a master's degree at the time of employment in any one area of engineering such as: aerospace, biosystems, chemical, civil and environmental, computer science and software, electrical and computer, industrial and systems, mechanical, and materials engineering at the time employment begins. Also of interest are related fields of advanced manufacturing, artificial intelligence, biomedical engineering, cyber security, model-based systems engineering, microelectronics, transportation systems, and wireless systems.
The appointment will be for nine months and is renewable annually. Additional teaching opportunities in the summer may also be available and are subject to the availability of funds. Renewal is contingent on available funding, need for services, and satisfactory performance. The primary responsibility of a successful candidate for this position is to teach a selection of undergraduate engineering courses required of students of a given academic department. The successful candidate will be expected to bring experience, innovation, enthusiasm, technology, and leadership to the courses that they will teach. Under typical circumstances, the teaching load will be three courses per semester, which includes course and laboratory development and management activities. In addition to instructional duties, successful candidates will contribute to the instructional mission of the department through participation on faculty committees and be expected to mentor students through possible participation in student organizations, competition activities, and other mentoring and knowledge enhancement opportunities.
