**Job Description:**

The emphasis for this position is broadening the intern's practical knowledge and experience by applying professional principles to real problems under the supervision of senior engineering personnel. The position will be held from **May through August of 2026.**
**Job Responsibilities:**
+ Performing geotechnical field work including observing geotechnical subsurface exploration, using GPS to layout borings, and performing infiltration testing
+ Performing construction observation and materials testing at construction sites
+ Performing laboratory testing
+ Create basic plans and figures using AutoCAD and GIS
+ Providing support to engineers on preparing geotechnical proposals and reports
+ Some travel may be required
**Required Skills/Experience:**
+ Current enrollment in an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering Bachelor's. Enrollment in other college engineering or relevant science programs may be considered.
+ Possess good oral and written communication skills and computer literacy
+ Ability to work with direction as part of a team

BAE Systems is hiring a Systems Engineering Manager to support our engineering teams in Radford, VA and Kingsport, TN, where we have a several active and planned modernization programs.
This position can be located at either site and will be empowered to lead a small systems engineering team.
The Systems Engineering Manager will focus on implementing value-added systems engineering processes across the engineering department. In this role, you will:
+ Mentor other engineers in the application of system engineering principles.
+ Provide guidance and support for project design reviews (system requirements, preliminary design, critical design, test readiness review, etc.).
+ Decompose top-level requirements and flow requirements into designs.

+ Develop, implement, assess, measure and align systems engineering process improvements activities across the value stream using process mapping and simulation tools.
**Required Education, Experience, & Skills**
+ Bachelor's degree in engineering or science field and 10 years related experience.
+ Proven track record of leading successful engineering design, development, and validation.
+ Proven track record of successful management of system engineering processes in a project environment.
+ Working knowledge of project planning and management including use of PM software such as MS Project.
+ Understanding and appreciation of the System Engineering process and its impact across functional boundaries to achieve balanced technical performance, cost, and schedule.
+ Able to talk with engineers of different disciplines and maintain a good relationship with our government customer.
+ Proficient in developing, simulating, and implementing system engineering processes, developing physical system and process requirements using Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) tools, and requirements management tools (e.g. Cradle, DOORS, etc.).
**Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills**
+ Experience with organizational change and process development.
+ PMP certification is desirable.
+ Experience in chemical processing facilities or industrial construction is desirable.
+ 5 years of experience in DOD or DOE systems engineering of complex systems.

**Job Description**
**What you'll do:**
Wind Engineering Interns experience technically challenging, meaningful, and creative assignments. As an intern, you'll have the opportunity to work on one of a variety of high priority teams, including product design, systems, component design (such as towers, machine head, power conversion), controls and operability, advanced technology and manufacturing, testing and validation, aerodynamics, performance, quality, services, cost-out, and more.
Engineering Interns are the pipeline for the GE Vernova Wind Edison Engineering Development Program (EEDP). Wind EEDP graduates have the technical and business foundation to proactively and continually make creative contributions to GE Vernova's future. Interns who are eligible candidates (rising undergraduate seniors or graduating master's candidates) will be able to interview for Wind EEDP while they are interns at GE Vernova. All internships will take place between May and August 2026.
**What you'll bring (Basic Qualifications):**
+ Students must be currently enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or graduate program in an engineering discipline as listed below from an ABET accredited university.
+ Eligible Majors: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Controls Engineering. Other Engineering majors such as: Aero Engineering, Materials Engineering, Civil Engineering, or other Energy related majors will be considered.
+ GPA greater than or equal to 3.0/4.0 overall without rounding
+ Must have the ability to work in the US for an unlimited amount of time without sponsorship
