Under general supervision with limited review, this position is responsible for providing technical design solutions for a range of difficult design problems for structural products and components of products using computer-aided design (CAD) equipment and technical engineering software such as (NX/Siemens, ProEngineer/CREO, or SOLIDWORKS) and utilize Product Lifecycle Management Systems (PLM) such as (WINDCHILL and TEAMCENTER). Assignments are normally outlined in terms of objectives and anticipated results. Work is reviewed at milestones for adequacy in meeting objectives. Responsible for documenting findings, communicating results to engineering staff and may make technical design presentations as required. Typically has frequent intra-organizational contact and may have some customer contact. May provide direction to less experienced designers and support staff.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Develops design solutions for assigned structural products and components.
+ Interact closely with engineering staff to refine design concepts and track progress.
+ Take ownership of design responsibility for significant portions of projects.
+ Develop solid models, layouts, sketches, and drawings of parts and assemblies, and may investigate design factors such as damage tolerance, durability, and structural modeling.
+ Participate in design reviews and integrate feedback from engineering analysis, test results, and customer input.
+ Support configuration control through proper use of PLM tools (Windchill, Teamcenter).
+ Details related structural assemblies, mechanisms, and devices.
+ Validates conformity to design standards and specifications and identifies design errors and other deficiencies, and recommends changes.
+ Provides documentation, identifies design issues, and makes technical design presentations to engineering staff and customers as required.
+ Working knowledge of CAD techniques and any applicable engineering design software applications and design standards such as ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), MIL- STD-100.
+ May direct the activities of less experienced designers and support staff.
+ Responsible for observing all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.

This position is responsible for the planning, managing and technical performance of a RAM engineering team. Manage all activities for assigned engineering project(s) including planning and managing technical performance to ensure quality, business, and financial objectives are attained.
