Lockheed Martin Rotary & Mission Systems (RMS) in Owego, New York is seeking a full time Summer 2026 Electrical / Mechanical Intern. In this role, you will work closely with the team of engineers involving some of the following tasks:
-Assist with lab build, rack assembly, integration efforts, continuity testing of equipment and cable harness
-Assist in electrical cable harness assembly and mechanical panel assembly for military platforms or associated lab environments
-Assist with entering bills of material and kitting parts for assembly
-Assist in design efforts, either in Creo and or Zuken E3 design domains as time permits
The successful candidate will be flexible, motivated, dedicated, detail-focused, team-focused and capable of multi-tasking.
**Basic Qualifications:**
- Pursuing a bachelor's degree program in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, math, or physics

In this role, you will assist in multi-functional product development for ruggedized military processing solutions, including digital analog, RF, circuit card design, test, and troubleshooting. These efforts will include both design and hands-on experiences in a lab environment, working directly to test and debug military hardware using electrical measurement equipment. The successful candidate will have experience and/or knowledge of Electrical Engineering test equipment, RF & Antenna design, and Matlab. We want your talent to provide leadership and engineering assistance for our Military flight control system products. This effort starts on the product after the initial conceptual design, development and qualification of a given product has completed. You will perform engineering technical guidance for product related technical issues that are electrical or system related. This role provides engineering oversight to assure that updates to the product meet the original product specifications and defined system-level requirements.
The engineering and leadership activities include, but are not limited to the following:
+ Support Manufacturing troubleshoot of yield concerns or other test fallout
+ Support test requirement and test hardware updates
+ Addressing technical concerns from the customer
+ Minor redesign and other mitigation efforts caused by obsolete parts and/or customer requested updates
+ Field performance monitoring
+ Support process and documentation updates.
+ Prepare and/or review documentation for system design updates in accordance with established systems development processes and procedures.
+ Produce and/or review technical documents, specifications and standards.
+ Support various specialty-engineering tasks; such as Reliability, Maintainability & Availability analysis, Integrated Logistics Support, Failure Analysis and Safety Engineering tasks.
+ Provide on-site production support and sustainment activities at customer locations.
+ Perform/assist in root cause/corrective action investigations
+ Verify and validate aspects of systems designs to ensure conformance with functional specifications and customer requirements
+ Engineering point of contact with the customer and responsible to status and close action items in a timely manner

Education, Experience, & Skills**
+ Bachelor s Degree (may substitute equivalent experience, training and/or certifications for the degree)

The Engineering Project Team Lead (PTL) will work to establish and manage an effective engineering team to support a large program or several small programs to meet established cost, schedule and technical requirements as defined in the program plan. The PTL works with program managers and functional engineering managers to ensure effective engineering execution on the program.
The PTL coordinates and manages engineering activities on the assigned program(s) to comply with cost, schedule and technical requirements and established engineering practices in order to meet program commitments.
Key Accountabilities:
+ Ensures that the engineering staff adheres to the approved plans by attending program control meetings, design reviews and by auditing processes, reviewing status and communicating regularly with the cost account managers.
+ Reviews all technical changes to requirements. Coordinates the analysis of the impact of technical changes to schedule/budget and ensures implementation and consistent design integrity.
+ Reviews and monitors engineering metrics on the program and provides technical support to the program manager.
+ Manage system Design to Cost (DTC) and cost reduction activities.
+ Interfaces with functional engineering organizations to ensure programs are adequately staffed and executed. Approves engineering cost account manager assignments for the program(s). Assesses all changes to the engineering cost, schedule, technical and risk baseline.
+ Collaborates with Performance Excellence to tailor, as appropriate, the processes applicable to projects and programs. Ensures compliance with applicable engineering processes and standards.
