Role: Application Engineering Specialist
Mission/Purpose: Lead product design, performance, and reliability of new Frame or Cradle structural products programs, through a coordinated interface with the customer and with internal company resources to ensure product meet time and quality requirements.
What does a day-in-the-life look like?
- To Be the liaison for Customer Engineering on Structural products and all product related issues to understand design priorities and manage engineering programs and projects, propose solutions within current team or redirect to proper department
- To Consolidate agreements with customer and plant to determine design, performance, and dimensional requirements for Structural products follow to (MES).
- To Generate design improvements ideas to achieve lighter weight, stronger, better performing, and lower cost designs through brainstorming workshop or regular meetings with MDT.
- To Support new product launch activity at the customer and at Metalsa facilities following MES and information generated by the plant, activity includes to mention a few but not limited to:
- Weld quality visual inspection and length vs weld document
- Ensure build level to release
- Dimensional reports are compliant to Customer general GD&T
- Hole inspection for presence, added and or removed parts
- To Support other technical department activity and communicate overall activities and status such testing updates, Prototypes Status, to mention a few.
- To Manage Design Release Package (BOM, 3D 2D etc.), by using Metalsa Project System to ensure product launch in quality and time.
- To Approve or reject Deviations (with AE Co. supervision) from manufacturing process following Metalsa Quality Standards to track changes versus original design by using CAE, statistic, tolerance dimensional to mention a few.
- To Support to Innovation, DFSS, De-couple projects by follow up with multidisciplinary teams in order to meet project objectives in time and quality.
- To Lead Product verification workshop according to MPS to ensure feasible product.
- To Support quotation process, service parts, on early stages by providing documentation and interaction with multidisciplinary teams.
- To Monitor Design KPI, and provide Design and Development Engineering performance data for Quality Management System (MPS) according with Technical Process Sheet to track our Quality System deliverables all programs on OEM (Chief) Per program (AE)
- To This position must be able to perform the activities of the Application Engineer role or any other activities that the company requires to fulfill customer program expectations.

• Participate actively in all efforts for product improvement and the engineering process
What you will bring:
Education
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Equivalent
- General vehicle and automotive customer knowledge
- 5 years as a Design Engineer, Product Engineer or equivalent experience.
- Intermediate understanding of engineering processes and applying Problem Solving & Root Cause Analysis.
- DFSS & Design Failure Mode Effect Analysis (DFMEA/PFMEA) a plus.
- Understanding of Risk management of components (designation as critical, high/medium/low, etc. based on product/process criteria).
- Basic CAD Knowledge (Catia, NX).
- Basic CAE Knowledge (Durability, NVH, Impact)
- Basic vehicle and sub-systems knowledge, with an understanding of how mating systems interact with the vehicle structure.
- Basic understanding of Stamping, Roll-forming, Hydroforming Joining & Electrocoat processes.
- Basic understanding for testing and validation processes for structural components.
- Intermediate mechanical engineering background with emphasis on structural strength, stiffness and durability concepts.
- Basic Project Management Knowledge (Quotation, VAVE assessments, internal/external customer deliverables, leading product meetings and interacting with multi-disciplinary teams at customer/internal production facility to manage product.
- Understanding of Life-Cycle Management Knowledge (MPS or equivalent).
- Basic finance for engineers' knowledge.

The Disaster Engineering Specialist:
- Conducts site inspections to validate and record infrastructure damage to include: taking photographs, making site sketches, and writing detailed damage descriptions. Develops and reviews scopes of work and cost estimates, including code and standard requirements.
- Reviews and analyzes engineering reports, designs, and as-built plans.
- Makes recommendations regarding claim eligibility. Develops or evaluates hazard mitigation proposals and benefit-cost analyses. Works with applicants to prioritize their projects, facilitates applicant meetings throughout the program delivery and recovery stages, and communicates the final determination to the applicants.
- Provides analyses and updates reports, participates in status update meetings with FEMA, and identifies the need for technical specialists.
- May coordinate and complete basic to moderately complex site inspections to validate and record damage to assist in the FEMA Public Assistance grant delivery process.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Skills and Abilities:**
