The Engineering Technician IV is responsible for providing support to the Engineering Lab regarding test equipment, test setup, facility needs, equipment maintenance, troubleshooting and Data Acquisition with limited supervision.
This role will facilitate continuous improvement activities to reduce the potential for product defects, as well as partner with Engineering and other lab functions to determine specific test equipment and resource needs to support test execution. The candidate should be able to communicate effectively, document work, create procedures, design, build and maintain test fixtures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Support test equipment and setup for product testing per test procedures.

Supports testing on prototypes, existing, competitor products, and component level for stated criteria involving mechanical, electrical, environmental, and electromechanical functions.

Preparation and use of various data acquisition devices for recording mechanical, electrical, and environmental measurements.

Design, build, implement, and document electrical & mechanical test equipment and fixturing to support lab testing needs.

Maintain test and lab equipment for calibration, functionality, and operation in accordance of IO17025 and the Laboratory Scope of Operations.

Support R&D testing issues through troubleshooting, diagnosis, solution, and improvements.

Actively participate in cost reduction solutions.

Actively participate in product, test equipment, facility, and process improvements.

Perform proper disposition of test equipment after completion of testing.

Correlate and document test data using proper forms and procedures for engineering.

Update and develop policies and procedures supporting the continuous improvement of the Engineering Lab.

Maintain test-related documentation in, and support administration of, database environment.

Analyze test data and prepare formal and informal test reports on complex topics.

Assist with the Generac Engineering Laboratory Audit and organization 5S programs.

Actively participate with fellow Lab team members in daily maintenance of Lab environment and preventive maintenance of Lab equipment, including identification of equipment needing attention.

- Construction Fabrications: Fabrications of new component parts for prototype designs and test fixtures. Construction of fixtures required for testing components and completed units. Build representative mockups for testing of portions of completed units.
- Perform Tests/Record Data: Follow the guidelines of a particular test to be administered. Record the data precisely as it occurs. This requires a working knowledge of Load Cells, Transits, Measuring devices, etc.
- Expedite Required Components: Order from manufacturing the parts needed to assemble the test fixtures and components needed to build the test samples, from a set of drawings. Recommend test equipment necessary to perform the specified test procedure.
- Contribute to the team effort to produce a quality product.

**What You'll Be Doing**
+ Actively participate in **design team activities** , contributing your ideas and skills to real-world engineering challenges.
+ Support **engineering build and test processes** , gaining practical experience in bringing designs to life.
+ Collaborate with a **cross-functional team** on ongoing product development, learning how different departments work together to achieve common goals.
+ Work within the **product design group** to complete identified development tasks, providing valuable information for reports and documentation.
+ Assist in **part procurement** by working with external vendors, gaining insight into the supply chain and vendor management processes.
**What We're Looking For**
+ Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with junior status or higher.
+ Proficiency in reading and interpreting **mechanical drawings and electrical schematics** .
+ Experience with **solid modeling** from concept to final part completion is considered an advantage.
+ Strong **problem-solving skills** and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
+ Excellent **communication skills** , both written and verbal, with the ability to multi-task and prioritize projects.
