**What you can look forward to as a Manufacturing Engineering Intern:**
- Develop and refine production processes, including creating routings, quality control plans, work instructions, and handling processes.
- Collaborate on engineering change notices (ECNs) to improve production methods and update documentation as needed.
- Conduct detailed costing of assembly processes, tools, and equipment using advanced software like Micro Estimating.
- Lead or assist in Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) sessions to identify and mitigate potential issues.
- Design efficient layouts for equipment and workspaces, maximizing workforce utilization and workflow.
- Work with vendors and suppliers to evaluate and recommend equipment, materials, or parts based on specifications and quality standards.
- Perform time and motion studies to establish production standards and recommend methods for improving efficiency.
- Lead or support problem-solving sessions, including root cause analysis and troubleshooting, to enhance production processes.
- Innovate and implement product-specific fixturing and automation systems to improve throughput and reduce costs.
- Support assembly departments with tooling design, equipment testing, and addressing any environmental or safety concerns.
**Your Profile as a Manufacturing Engineering Intern:**
- Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering or a related field with a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret technical and numerical data.
- Proficiency in presenting information and responding to inquiries from managers, vendors, and customers.
- Knowledge of advanced mathematical concepts and their practical applications in engineering.
- Proficiency in English for technical documentation and communication.

This position helps manage projects that support MnDOT's Blowing Snow Control Shared Services Program. The position works on complex tasks related to right of way, computer-aided design (CAD), and visual planning. Position responsibilities include:
+ Confirm if blowing snow is a problem in certain areas by working with Snow Fence Coordinators
+ Collect and analyze Minnesota winter weather data
+ Visit sites, review aerial photos, and measure open areas to estimate how much snow might blow onto roads
+ Use elevation data and wind patterns to figure out where snow drifts are likely to form
+ Use tools such as MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, ArcMap (GIS), and GPS to complete plan package assembly for blowing snow control plans, specifications, and cost estimates
+ Work with public and private landowners to find practical solutions for snow control
+ Create reports, maps, and plans to help reduce blowing snow on roads
+ Help inspect construction work and use the Transportation Asset Management System (TAMS) to track snow control measure installations.
Weekly travel within the northwest region of Minnesota is required, typically once a week. Approximately 20% of time will be spent in the field performing site reviews, providing construction inspection technical assistance, landowner engagement, and snow fence TAMS inspections.

**The Assisted Living team serves facilities located throughout the state of Minnesota with 50% of work time spent onsite at designated facilities. When not onsite, the remaining follow-up work is performed by teleworking from your home office.**

The Assisted Living Engineering Services team helps protect Minnesota's most vulnerable by enforcing state licensure and physical environment requirements in assisted living facilities.
Working in the Assisted Living Physical Environment Evaluator role, you will:
+ Provide construction document reviews, inspections, and surveys for the evaluation of assisted living facilities to ensure the physical environment complies with State laws and rules.
+ Provide training and expertise to assisted living professionals to educate them on maintaining facility compliance.
**The Assisted Living team serves facilities located throughout the state of Minnesota with 50% of work time spent onsite at designated facilities. When not onsite, the remaining follow-up work is performed by teleworking from your home office.**
**Position locations will be determined by the top candidates and will be based out of one of the following MDH district office locations: Rochester, Mankato, Marshall, St. Paul, St. Cloud, Duluth, Fergus Falls or Bemidji.**
**Travel expenses will be reimbursed according to bargaining unit guidelines.**

**Minimum Qualifications**

Three (3) years of experience with building, fire, or physical environment plan reviews, inspections, surveys, or related experience.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Knowledge of the MN State Building Code and MN State Fire Code as it relates to the different types of assisted living facilities and the State statute licensure of facilities.
+ Knowledge of the 2018 Life Safety Code and FGI Guidelines for Residential Care Facilities.
+ Degree (2-year) in engineering, architecture, construction services, drafting or related field.
+ Ability to identify deficient design and construction items and provide solutions.
+ Experience with current survey processes at the Minnesota Department of Health.
+ Previous experience with quality improvement activities.
**Physical Requirements**
+ Ability to be mobile on rough and unfinished topography to access all areas of construction.
+ Ability to ascend and descend ladders and stairwells to access mechanical and electrical equipment.
+ Ability to position self to move through and inspect various components of the architectural, mechanical, and electrical system of the building.
**Additional Requirements**
+ This position requires successful completion of a background check and an employment reference check.
+ This employment does not require a valid driver's license, but it does demand travel, which the candidate will be responsible for meeting.
