Faculty Member - salary commensurate with experience. The successful candidate will be expected to teach Associate of Applied Science courses in Civil Engineering, Surveying and Construction related classes/laboratories, create instructional materials and laboratory experiences, contribute to management of labs, and equipment, update course syllabi and curriculum as necessary to remain current with the industry, promote the Civil and Construction Engineering program through local, regional and national engagement, participate in program assessment activities related to accreditation, certification and grant parameters, attend all advisory board meetings, develop/maintain industry connections, and other activities to assure success of the program and the department. The successful candidate will also perform duties to include student advising, evaluate student learning, maintain class records on college system, recruitment, committee participation, community service and other departmental activities.





Create instructional materials and laboratory experiences and teach courses at a variety of times in response to institutional needs, evaluate students' progress toward achievement of stated student learning outcomes and inform them in a timely manner of their progress in the course, contribute to management of labs, and equipment, develop or update course syllabi for courses within the college guideline and curriculum as necessary to remain current with the industry, reviews, evaluates, and recommends student learning materials.





Responsible for professional development and institutional service as determined in consultation with the Dean. Work with other faculty, staff, and local industries and organizations to continually refine and improve the Civil and Construction Engineering program. Such duties to be performed include: developing new course materials or courses as required to maintain program currency in emerging technologies in the field of Civil Engineering and the development of course work associated with it; Provides access to students through posted office hours, electronic communication and other appropriate methods, serve on internal and external committees for the College and the community at large. Work with Business and Community Services department to develop workforce solutions within the area of Civil Engineering.





Involvement in ATMAE accreditation process, writing grant proposals related to program goals and objectives as well as participate in grant activities





Share responsibility for day-to-day operation and routine upkeep of classrooms, labs, and equipment. All employees are expected to engage in strategic institutional efforts related to diversity, equity, and inclusion of marginalized students.

Master's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or closely related area from a regionally accredited institution or be in pursuit of Master's Degree to be completed within three years of employment.

#18 graduate semester hours in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or closely related area or pursuit of 18 graduate hours in progress to be completed within two years of employment.

# Minimum of 3 years of relevant industrial experience, and/or experience in related research and development, and/or experience teaching civil engineering technology-based classes.

# Higher education teaching experience. (Community College teaching experience, or a clear commitment to the community college ethos, and experience teaching online preferred.).

# Possessing an understanding of equity issues related to minoritized student persistence and success is highly valued.





Broad, current industry knowledge and practical applied experience in the field of Civil Engineering, Construction Management and Construction Industry are required along with the ability to translate those knowledge and skill sets into a meaningful learning experience in a classroom or laboratory setting. A willingness to participate as a team member to realize the overall goals of the Program and Department, as well as to prepare students for the workplace and lifelong learning opportunities. The Civil Engineering program is located primarily at the Hardin Valley Campus of Pellissippi State Community College but some classes may be taught at our other locations. Travel within our two-county service area may be required. Teaching assignment may include day, evening, on-line or hybrid as needed.

The Civil and Construction Engineering program has a full time lab technician that oversees the upkeep of lab materials and surveying equipment, however a general knowledge or willingness to learn operation of such equipment is expected.

JOB OBJECTIVE:


Mechanical Engineering Technology Faculty Member - salary commensurate with experience. The successful applicant will demonstrate appropriate technical expertise to teach fundamental courses such as engineering materials, manufacturing processes, statics, strength of materials, geometric dimensioning & tolerancing, applied mechanics with dynamics, fluid mechanics/fluid power, and related engineering physics concepts including particle and rigid body dynamics. In addition, applicants should be able to teach a variety of courses from the following areas: additive manufacturing, metrology, CNC programming and operation, industrial maintenance, or lean manufacturing and quality control concepts and applications. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:


70% A. Teach Engineering Technology classes (most specifically Mechanical Engineering Technology,


And Engineering Systems Technology). 10% D. Learn emerging technologies and processes (including different computer platforms and related


hardware, software, and instructional aids) used in teaching METC/ENST classes. Attend and/or present at local, regional, state, or national conferences as part of professional development activities. Work with MET Program Coordinator, faculty, the MET Advisory Committee, and local industries and organizations to continually refine and improve related curricula. Help write grant proposals related to program goals and objectives. Participate in grant activities for awarded grants.


5% F. Share responsibility for day-to-day operation and routine upkeep of classrooms, labs, and


equipment. Promote a safe working environment.


5% G. Along with other duties as assigned, assist in promotion of Engineering Technologies and recruitment of new students.

10% B. Work with the Program Coordinator, ENS faculty, Tennessee universities that offer a BS in Engineering, and local organizations to continually refine and improve related curricula. Electrical Engineering Technology Faculty Member - salary commensurate with experience. The successful candidate will be expected to teach Associate of Applied Science-level EET classes and laboratories, create instructional materials and laboratory experiences, promote the EET program through local, regional and national engagement, participate in program assessment activities related to accreditations (e.g. SACS, ATMAE, NIMS), certification and grant parameters, perform student advising, and complete other departmental services as required. The successful candidate must have: (a) a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, or a closely-related field from a regionally accredited college or university and professional experience sufficient to meet SACS criteria. (b) a minimum of 3 years of relevant industrial experience, and/or experience in a related research and development, and/or experience teaching a broad range of engineering technology based classes (c) higher education teaching experience beyond the level of Teaching Assistant or Research Assistant (Community College teaching experience, or a clear commitment to the community college ethos, and experience teaching online preferred.) (d) evidence of strong oral and written communication, computer and presentation skills; and (f) motivation to develop partnerships with industry. extensive relevant industrial experience. 70% Teach Engineering Technology classes (most specifically Electrical Engineering Technology). Create instructional materials and laboratory experiences and teach courses at a variety of times in response to institutional needs, evaluate students' progress toward achievement of stated student learning outcomes and inform them in a timely manner of their progress in the course, contribute to management of labs, and equipment, develop or update course syllabi for courses within the college guideline and curriculum as necessary to remain current with the industry, reviews, evaluates, and recommends student learning materials. Work with other faculty, staff, and local industries and organizations to continually refine and improve the Electrical Engineering Technology and Electromechanical programs. Such duties to be performed include developing new course materials or courses as required to maintain program currency in emerging technologies in the field of Electrical Engineering Technology and Electromechanical Technology; Serve on internal and external committees for the College and the community at large. Work with Business and Community Services department to develop workforce solutions.





10% Learn emerging technologies and processes (including different computer platforms and related hardware, software, and instructional aids) used in teaching EETC/EMEC classes. Attend and/or present at local, regional, state, or national conferences as part of professional development activities. Work with EET Program Coordinator, faculty, the EET Advisory Committee, and local industries and organizations to continually refine and improve related curricula. Help write grant proposals related to program goals and objectives. Participate in grant activities for awarded grants.





5% Share responsibility for day-to-day operation and routine upkeep of classrooms, labs, and equipment. 5% Along with other duties as assigned, assist in promotion of Engineering Technologies and recruitment of new students. All employees are expected to engage in strategic institutional efforts related to diversity, equity, and inclusion of marginalized students.





Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, or a closely-related field from a regionally accredited college or university and professional experience sufficient to meet SACS criteria.





Minimum of 3 years of relevant industrial experience, and/or experience in related research and development, and/or experience teaching a broad range of engineering technology-based classes.





Higher education teaching experience beyond the level of Teaching Assistant or Research Assistant (Community College teaching experience, or a clear commitment to the community college ethos, and experience teaching online preferred.).





Evidence of strong oral and written communication, computer and presentation skills; Proficient use of applicable electrical and electronics software





Ability to teach basic electrical and electronics courses required





Ability to teach LABVIEW, FANUC and DENSO robots, Instrumentation Technology, Programmable Logic Controllers and other related technologies of the industry.





Demonstrated professional experience/ expertise in the electrical and electronics fields.





Expertise sufficient to teach 1000- and 2000-level college classes in Electrical Engineering Technology





Familiarity with professional standards, processes, equipment and techniques in the electrical and electronics industry.





Experience in applicable electrical and electronics equipment and software including LABVIEW, FANUC robots, WINCAPS III for DENSO robots, Instrumentation Technology and Programmable Logic Controllers.





Capability to deliver courses traditionally and online as appropriate.





Expertise in a field complimentary to existing PSCC Electrical Engineering Technology faculty is desired





JOB LOCATION: Pellissippi State Community College (Hardin Valley Campus, Blount County Campus, Strawberry Plains Campus)





EQUIPMENT:

Equipment and software skills are dependent on areas of expertise, but must be proficient in applicable electrical and electronics software to include LABVIEW, FANUC robots, WINCAPS III for DENSO robots, Instrumentation Technology and Programmable Logic Controllers.
