Carnegie Mellon University's department of Chemical Engineering is seeking a highly motivated and talented postdoctoral researcher with expertise in microbiome studies, microfluidics, or/and Machine-Learning to join our dynamic research team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in advancing our understanding of microbial communities through innovative microfluidic technologies.
**Responsibilities:**
+ Designing and conducting experiments to study microbial communities using microfluidic platforms.
+ Developing and optimizing microfluidic devices for high-throughput microbiome analysis.
+ Analyzing complex datasets derived from microbiome studies and microfluidic experiments.
+ Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, including microbiologists, engineers, and computational biologists.
+ Publishing research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at scientific conferences.
+ Mentoring and supervise graduate and undergraduate students in related projects.
+ Contributing to the preparation of grant proposals and progress reports

**Chemical Engineering Tenure-track Faculty Position**
The Department of Chemical Engineering ( at Carnegie Mellon University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position.
With a history of over 100 years of innovation and creativity in research and education, the department is one of the premier chemical engineering departments in the country and represents one of seven academic departments in the nationally 7th ranked College of Engineering. The student body includes approximately 200 undergraduate, 80 Masters, and 100 PhD students. The collaborative faculty includes 21 tenure-track and 2 teaching-track faculty complemented by courtesy and adjunct faculty. Carnegie Mellon University is located in Pittsburgh PA, an affordable city to live in with outstanding cultural offerings, abundant green spaces, excellent public schools, and an easily accessible airport that offers many nonstop destinations across the US and abroad. The Manager, Electrical Engineering is a highly skilled engineering professional who leads and directs large-scale electrical engineering projects and releasing activities. This person acts as a hands-on manager to ensure engineering projects are completed successfully and released in the required time frame while maintaining the highest quality standards. This role works with a cross-functional team to design and develop of next generation industrial safety products and solutions and maintain relevancy of the current portfolio of industrial safety products and solutions.
**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:**
This position is responsible for managing processes and teams to develop detailed electrical designs throughout the new product development lifecycle. This position will also be involved in the sustaining, VAVE, and quality improvement of ISC legacy products. This position is expected to work closely with various groups to fully assure a properly designed product is released to production and maintaining the electrical design process documentation.
The duties may include but are not limited to:
+ Define and execute processes and procedures for electrical and system level specifications and requirements
+ Define and execute processes and procedures for electrical design and hardware analysis to comply with agency approvals (UL, CSA, ATEX, IEC, MSHA, etc.)
+ Responsible for electrical designs meeting manufacturability, reliability, and serviceability requirements
+ Lead innovation in electrical designs that meet or exceed performance and quality goals
+ Create, update, and maintain electrical design process and procedural documentation
+ Enforce, and mature the corporate engineering processes
+ Mentor and provide technical guidance to electrical engineers/designers
+ Lead team to troubleshoot new or legacy products with a data-driven approach
+ Lead team to resolve complex product issues through detailed analysis, rapid experimentations, test planning, and novel idea generation
+ Travel to customer locations to resolve issues, collect Voice of Customer and visit suppliers to go to Gemba (travel less than 10%)
**QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED (Non-Negotiable):**
+ BSEE from an accredited engineering college or university
+ Minimum 10 years of experience as a degreed electrical engineer
+ Demonstrated progressive experience managing an Electrical Engineering team
+ Demonstrated progressive experience managing multiple parallel projects and alternate layouts
+ Experience with design best practices for PCB and PCBA design and layout
+ Experience in flexible electrical architecture development
+ Proficiency in basic computer software such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
