What You Will Do
- Draft patent applications for innovative clients, including descriptions and figures.
- Correspond with patent office about pending patent applications.
- Advise patent litigation teams based on your technical and scientific area of expertise.
- Interview inventors about new ideas.
- You have a PhD in Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Petrochemistry or applicable experience in the petrochemical industry.
- You have 2+ years of patent drafting and/or prosecution experience.
- You have superior writing skills and excellent academic credentials.
- You are registered before the U.S. Patent & Trademark office (preferred).

Serco is hiring Civil Engineering Site Inspectors to support the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Public Assistance (PA) recovery initiatives in Zone 2 across the Midwest. The Civil Engineering Site Inspectors will consist of professional and non-professional personnel to provide support to state, tribal, territorial local governments, and some private non-profits. **This position is contingent upon your ability to obtain/maintain/transfer a FEMA EOD Public Trust Clearance.**

In this role, you will:
+ Review and analyze professional architectural/engineering reports and designs or as-built plans
+ Thoroughly document analysis in writing
+ Develop scopes of work, to included related code and standard requirements
+ Validate applicant-provided scopes of work to include related code and standard requirements
+ Develop and review cost estimates
+ Advise FEMA staff on the technical validity of claims presented under FEMA's arbitration process
+ Should arbitration hearings occur, testify as an expert witness on FEMA's behalf
**Qualifications**
**To be successful in this role, you will have:**
+ A bachelor's degree in civil engineering with 5 years of experience in a related field and professional registration (Professional Engineer - PE), OR a bachelor's degree in civil engineering with 10 years of experience in a related field
+ 1-2 years of experience in site inspections of large commercial construction infrastructures
+ 1-2 years of experience in site inspections in any of the following eligible types of work:
+ Restoration of roads, bridges, water control facilities, buildings, equipment, utilities, debris removal, schools, churches, parks, and recreation centers
+ The ability to obtain and maintain FEMA Public Trust
+ A United States citizenship
+ The ability to maintain FEMA specific trainings
+ Microsoft Office skills
+ The ability to deploy to any location in zone 2 with a 24-48-hour notice after task order award
+ _Zone 2 includes Arkansas, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Wisconsin, and Wyoming_

Primary focus for project work will be the preparation of development studies and plans, conceptual engineering for due diligence/site selection, engineering studies, design reports, construction documents, and construction oversight/administration related to development projects in the industrial and municipal markets. This will include potable/industrial water, storm sewer design, sanitary sewer design and general site works. This is a fast-paced, challenging environment working with multi-disciplinary teams including environmental, geotechnical, acoustical, transportation/traffic, urban planners and others. **Your Impact**
+ Contribute to, and potentially lead multi-disciplinary Teams evaluating sites for potential development
+ Help assemble and lead a Team to manage workflow related to Civil design across several projects/Teams
+ Perform engineering analysis for feasibility studies, facility master planning, studies, analysis and design of storm water facilities, water treatment and distribution systems, as well as wastewater collection and treatment systems, which may include pump / lift stations, and storage reservoirs
+ Primary focus for project work will be conceptual development plans including site grading and utilities feasibility incorporating feasibility study inputs from other experts regarding traffic, natural resources, environmental impacts, noise and vibration, geotechnical concerns, site security and client requirements
**Who You Are**
**Required Qualifications**
+ Bachelor or higher degree in Civil Engineering or other related field of study
+ PE or PE eligibility required; having IN/VA/GA/MS PE preferred
+ Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience (may include post-graduate work)
+ Excellent, clear and concise, verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to coordinate meetings, conduct effective client presentations and prepare written reports
+ Demonstrated experience engineering small to large sized, multi-disciplined development projects, including responsibility for client interactions and successful engineering project delivery with respect to scope, schedule, quality and budget
+ Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills, and have the ability to work on multiple, unique assignments simultaneously
+ Must pass background check, and physical, and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy

**Responsibilities**
+ Utilize technical software programs on a regular basis to analyze, produce, and QC deliverables for our clients.
+ Contribute to the pre-construction civil engineering design, planning, modification, permitting, and analysis for multiple projects ranging in size and scope.
+ Solve complex problems, assist project managers, and collaborate across disciplines to produce our clients' visions for the future built environment.
+ Develop familiarity with the federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Kimley-Horn's and our client's practices, procedures, and standards.
+ Analysts will learn one or more software programs specific to their disciplines: AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Excel, Microstation, VISSIM, Open Roads, Synchro and/or GIS.
**Qualifications**
+ An ABET accredited engineering degree (Bachelors or Masters) by Summer 2025 in one of the following majors:
