What You Will Do

  • Draft patent applications for innovative clients, including descriptions and figures.
  • Correspond with patent office about pending patent applications.
  • Advise patent litigation teams based on your technical and scientific area of expertise.
  • Interview inventors about new ideas.

Who You Are

  • You have a PhD in Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Petrochemistry or applicable experience in the petrochemical industry.
  • You have 2+ years of patent drafting and/or prosecution experience.
  • You have superior writing skills and excellent academic credentials.
  • You are registered before the U.S. Patent & Trademark office (preferred).

The expected salary range for this position is $100,000 - $85,000. The salary offered will depend upon individual qualifications and experience.

Qualifications:

Serco is hiring Civil Engineering Site Inspectors to support the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Public Assistance (PA) recovery initiatives in Zone 2 across the Midwest. The Civil Engineering Site Inspectors will consist of professional and non-professional personnel to provide support to state, tribal, territorial local governments, and some private non-profits. In this role, you will:
+ Review and analyze professional architectural/engineering reports and designs or as-built plans
+ Thoroughly document analysis in writing
+ Develop scopes of work, to included related code and standard requirements
+ Validate applicant-provided scopes of work to include related code and standard requirements
+ Develop and review cost estimates
+ Advise FEMA staff on the technical validity of claims presented under FEMA's arbitration process
+ Should arbitration hearings occur, testify as an expert witness on FEMA's behalf
**Qualifications**
**To be successful in this role, you will have:**
+ A bachelor's degree in civil engineering with 5 years of experience in a related field and professional registration (Professional Engineer - PE), OR a bachelor's degree in civil engineering with 10 years of experience in a related field
+ 1-2 years of experience in site inspections of large commercial construction infrastructures
+ 1-2 years of experience in site inspections in any of the following eligible types of work:
+ Restoration of roads, bridges, water control facilities, buildings, equipment, utilities, debris removal, schools, churches, parks, and recreation centers
+ The ability to obtain and maintain FEMA Public Trust
+ A United States citizenship
+ The ability to maintain FEMA specific trainings
+ Microsoft Office skills
+ The ability to deploy to any location in zone 2 with a 24-48-hour notice after task order award
+ _Zone 2 includes Arkansas, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Wisconsin, and Wyoming_
+ The ability to go on 6-12-month deployments at a minimum
+ Comfortability and experience using a smart phone

**Additional desired experience and skills:**
+ 2 years minimum of prior Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Public Assistance (PA) experience

Job Summary Reporting to the Director of Construction, the Operations Manager oversees operational activities in the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia, including hiring project staff, managing training and development and performance management programs for project staff, lead, motivate and engage project staff to ensure timely and efficient completion of the construction projects. The Operations Manager is ultimately responsible for introducing best practices and improving operational processes and related programs. Responsibilities
  • Development and approval of project execution plans for a variety of heavy civil project
  • Development and approval of project budgets, forecasting and associated cost reports
  • Development and negotiation of contracts with project clients, vendors and subcontractors
  • Development, approval and monitoring of project schedules
  • Management and completion of claims and any associated legal proceedings with respect to contracts disputes
  • Overall management of staff and resource planning related to project execution.
  • Formulate and implement operational strategy
  • Coordinate with other departments to effectively implement strategy
  • Ensure all operations are carried efficiently, timely and within budget
  • Analyze and improve operational systems and processes
  • Improve and implement various operations related programs, including training and development, performance management
  • Manage day to day operational activities
  • Develop and deliver operational recruitment strategy
  • Conducting interviews with prospective candidates for the operational positions
  • Ensure legal compliance of operational processes and programs
  • Lead, support, and mentor project staff
  • Work closely with management team
  • Participate in management meetings to contribute to strategic planning and provide strategic solutions to operational issues
Qualifications Required Education and Experience
  • Diploma in Civil Engineering, Operations or Project Management or relevant area / combination with experience
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in management
  • Certification as a PMI, PE, PMP will be advantageous
  • Experience in schedule planning, budgeting, company operations
  • In-depth knowledge of the scope of projects within the industry
  • Knowledge of financial and business management
  • Strong experience in the Mid-Atlantic

WSP has a career opportunity for a **Senior Technical Manager, Civil Engineering** to join our team in **Virginia** (although other locations may be considered) in a client-facing role. Primary focus for project work will be the preparation of development studies and plans, conceptual engineering for due diligence/site selection, engineering studies, design reports, construction documents, and construction oversight/administration related to development projects in the industrial and municipal markets. This will include potable/industrial water, storm sewer design, sanitary sewer design and general site works. **Your Impact**
+ Contribute to, and potentially lead multi-disciplinary Teams evaluating sites for potential development
+ Help assemble and lead a Team to manage workflow related to Civil design across several projects/Teams

**Who You Are**
**Required Qualifications**
+ Bachelor or higher degree in Civil Engineering or other related field of study
+ PE or PE eligibility required; having IN/VA/GA/MS PE preferred
+ Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience (may include post-graduate work)
+ Excellent, clear and concise, verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to coordinate meetings, conduct effective client presentations and prepare written reports
+ Demonstrated experience engineering small to large sized, multi-disciplined development projects, including responsibility for client interactions and successful engineering project delivery with respect to scope, schedule, quality and budget
+ Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills, and have the ability to work on multiple, unique assignments simultaneously
+ Must pass background check, and physical, and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
