**Job Description**
AECOM's Water Business Line is actively seeking a **Civil Engineer III** for employment in the West Palm Beach or Fort Lauderdale, Florida office. The successful candidate will work with Project Managers and other technical disciplines on all project phases to deliver a variety of water, wastewater, stormwater, and resiliency projects. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to
+ Planning, design, permitting, and construction phase services and will include activities focused on design of municipal water/wastewater, stormwater, and resiliency projects.
+ Technical resource; may serve as technical advisor for the team.
+ Communicates project tasks between offices - high level of coordination and communication skills required.
+ Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.
+ Develops study and design procedures to facilitate high-quality cost-effective work by others.
+ Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.
+ Develops construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects.
+ Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings.
+ Prepares technical specification sections.
+ Provides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements.
+ Overseeing construction phase engineering services.
+ Coordination with clients, sub-consultants, regulatory agencies, and members of the public will be necessary to accomplish assigned objectives.
**Qualifications**
**Minimum Requirements:**
+ Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or related field and 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Master's degree in civil or environmental engineering.
+ Experience as Professional Engineer in municipal water/wastewater and stormwater infrastructure engineering design projects.
+ Licensed Professional Engineer in Florida.
+ Experience mentoring or supervising other engineering professionals.
+ Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with diverse audience.
+ Positive attitude, good aptitude, and strong initiative will integrate well with our existing group of outstanding professionals.
+ Experience in construction phase services.
+ Proven leadership skills and demonstrated ability to successfully work with diverse teams.
+ Demonstrated proven track record of leading technical engineering and successfully designing water, wastewater, and stormwater projects.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $80,000.00 - $20,000.00.

**Qualifications**

+ Minimum of 10 years of directly relevant experience in civil/site development, stormwater, and permitting
+ Registration as a Professional Engineer in Florida
+ Ability to apply critical thinking to develop options and recommendations to solve technical problems
+ Ability to develop and oversee working drawings for civil plans (site layout, piping, grading, drainage, and paving) from sketches (determines scales, layout, and need for specific detail)
+ Experience with the planning and design of facility layout and site design projects
+ Experience with site development requirements and permitting; experience with environmental resource permits
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with clients and project team
+ Ability to manage, oversee, and train junior civil engineering staff
+ Proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint

**Responsibilities**
**Leadership and Direction**
+ Receive general instruction on key objectives for execution. Receive direction as needed, and especially on difficult assignments and possible solutions. Work is completed using standard engineering techniques and design principles and is reviewed by more senior staff to ensure application of sound professional judgement.
**At the Operational and Company Level**
+ Work with senior level engineers, clients and agencies, subcontractors, and design teams on moderately complex engineering project issues.
**Do the Work**
+ Conceptualize the initial civil design approach for assigned phases of large land/site development.
+ Complete civil engineering work for assigned phases of large land/site development.
+ Assist with the development of plans, specifications, and reports.
+ Complete design work and calculations using computer-aided software.
+ Provide technical assistance in the resolution of design problems that may include performing field investigation or inspections, detailed design work and calculations, and detailed checking of design computations done by others, or general coordination of specific design aspects into a project.

**Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related engineering discipline required at time of employment.
+ EIT preferred.
+ Entry level position, experience in civil engineering a plus; land/site development industry a plus.
+ Land Development engineering experience and skills; large- and small-scale drainage and BMP design preferred.
+ Experience with computer applications and civil engineering design software such as Civil3D in a professional or academic setting.
+ Familiarity with reading construction plans.
+ Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil3D, AES, CIVILD, WSPGW, PCSWMM, StormCAD, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS preferred.
+ Familiarity with Storm Drain Modeling and Rational Method Hydrologic Calculations.
+ Familiarity with Open Channel & Detention Basin Modeling and Design.
+ Familiarity with HEC-RAS modeling and CLOMR/LOMR applications and processing.
+ Experience researching zoning, development standards, development review processes, compliance matters, regulations and standards.
+ Assist with preparing reports, narratives, development applications, submittal documents, and response letters.
+ Ability to multi-task and coordinate on multiple projects, with multiple clients and sub-consultants.
+ Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Projects).

**Position Specific Description**
Under direct supervision, this job applies diversified knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices to a broad variety of assignments. Technical subject areas include earthwork, foundations, reinforced concrete, structural steel, stormwater management, roadways and heavy load lift plans. Plant equipment of specific interest involves stair structures, cooling towers, solar and BESS support systems, cooling ponds, canals, seawalls, tunnels, pipelines, intake/discharge structures, screens and screen cleaning machinery.The civil engineering intern works on small projects or portions of larger projects. Job Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Intern will work with other members of the Civil Engineering Fleet Team to evaluate and troubleshoot structural components, foundation capacities, and/or lifting plan approvals
+ Support the development of condition assessment tracking, including inspections, and risk management procedures
+ Apply knowledge to real world operating failure modes experienced in the fleet and support development of recommendations from evaluation
+ Support various power generation teams such as fossil operations, solar operations, cooling pond maintenance, environmental services, project management, etc.
+ Work will likely include opportunities to visit power generating sites for evaluating structures
+ Evaluate and/or develop standards and engineering guidelines based on the most recent codes (steel, concrete, building, etc)
