Dahl Law Group is a boutique law firm providing elite-level Tax Strategy, Asset Protection, Business Law, and Estate Planning services to business owners and real estate investors. Were now expanding our Tax Preparation & Filing services and looking for a licensed CPA or Enrolled Agent to join our team and help build out this new offering from the ground up.

What Makes This Role Unique

  • No brutal tax seasons. We take on a limited number of clients and meet with them throughout the year. No 200-return hamster wheel here.
  • Youll co-create the tax practice. Youll collaborate on choosing the software stack, build workflows, and grow the team with us.
  • Equity opportunity. For the right operational-minded candidate, this could include earning ownership in the tax preparation, filing, and strategy business operation.
  • Appealing for a CPA or EA with a small book of business whos tired of going it alone, and is ready to plug into something bigger.
  • Long-term vision. There is much more to share about where this enterprise is headed for the right candidate with the mindset and drive to grow with us.
  • Learn from a Tax Attorney with an LLM and CTC designation. We dont just prepare returns we implement real tax strategies (like cost segregation, entity stacking, and 280A planning) that others only talk about.
  • Private office & flexible schedule. Youll work hybrid/in-person in our Sacramento office, with autonomy and admin support.

Compensation

$90,000 $20,000 base salary + bonus + long-term equity opportunity

Responsibilities

  • Preparing & reviewing ~2030 returns for high-level clients
  • Participating in quarterly Tax Strategy meetings with the Principal Attorney and clients (not just April rush)
  • Conducting tax law research with review and approval from Principal Attorney when needed
  • Helping choose and implement tax prep software
  • Collaborating to build internal AI and automation workflows
  • Laying the groundwork for a team you may eventually lead
  • Admin support provided by the firm
  • Opportunity to hire paraprofessional help as department grows
  • Marketing is already handled we have a consistent, overwhelming demand for services so no business development is required

Qualifications

  • A licensed CPA or EA in good standing (no disciplinary history)
  • A client educator you enjoy explaining tax returns and strategies in plain English
  • Venture creator who is hungry excited to build something operationally, not just punch a clock
  • A systems thinker you like efficiency and want to help create workflows that scale
  • Comfortable with 1040, 1120, 1120S, and 1065 returns for clients with 250K 5M in revenue (added plus if you're familiar with 1041 returns for probate/trust administration cases)
  • Tech-forward - youre excited by the use of AI tools (we already use AI for tax research and plan to expand into AI-driven tax prep workflows)
