The firm is seeking an Enterprise Applications Engineer to join our technology team. The Enterprise Applications Engineer is responsible for implementing, testing and maintaining the firm's primary software applications. Applications include, but are not limited to, legal document management systems, M365 and legal software add-ins, PDF applications, collaboration platforms as well as specialized applications for legal practice groups and individual users. This hybrid position is based in the firm's New York offices in Hudson Yards.

RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:
  • Install, maintain and provide technical expertise for a legal industry suite of software tools to support the delivery of legal services to clients
  • Serve as primary technical resource for the administration and support of the firm's document management system
  • Perform application integration, configuration and packaging requirements
  • Acts as the subject matter expert for enterprise applications to ensure ease of use and full leverage of the tools
  • Define and maintain firm standards for implementing software
  • Perform QA testing of new application installs and upgrades
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application problems and configuration enhancement requests
  • Assist with the creation of training materials
  • Seek out, evaluate and propose enhancements, updates and new software solutions
  • Support the transition of legacy on-prem applications to cloud applications
  • Works closely with the Information Security team, prioritizing implementation of secure architecture, security controls and security patches.
  • Ensures all team, departmental and firm policies and procedures are adhered to, including technical change management and service continuity
  • Other duties as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 5+ years of experience in applications engineering in a law firm or professional services organization
  • 5+ years experience administering iManage or NetDocuments
  • Experience with M365 and legal industry add-ins, Teams and One Drive
  • Experience supporting migrations to, and maintaining, M365, hosted document management systems and other cloud applications
  • Understanding of user identity and application security models
  • Strong knowledge of legal industry application requirements, best practices and industry standards
  • Detail-oriented, and able to handle multiple tasks and heavy workloads efficiently
  • Proactive, self-learner who is motivated & results-oriented with a positive, team-player attitude
  • Flexibility to work outside scheduled hours (9:30am-5:30pm EST) as required
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline desirable

The Manager Enterprise Applications is responsible for all business relationship management, requirements definition, IT investment prioritization, management/development of their assigned IT team (Supply Chain, HR, Finance, etc.) and IT program management activities within their assigned function. The primary objective of this position is to enable business growth and productivity through deployment and optimization of information technology. Program success is measured by delivery of projects in an on-time, on-budget manner while delivering upon the expected benefit stream.
The Manager, Enterprise Applications, leads strategic business capability management and IT investment prioritization, guiding a high-performing team across key functional areas such as HR, Finance, Marketing, and Legal. As the primary liaison between IT and business stakeholders, this role ensures technology initiatives align with organizational goals, oversees requirements gathering, and manages IT project evaluation and execution. The manager also acts as Capability Manager, integrating solutions across enterprise applications, championing digital transformation, and driving improvements in user satisfaction, project delivery, and business process efficiency.
**Major Responsibilities**
+ Lead Agile Practices: Guide teams in using Agile methods like Scrum and Kanban. Organize planning events, help teams focus on their goals, and improve how work gets done by removing obstacles.
+ Build Strong Teams: Encourage teamwork and open communication. Help team members develop leadership skills and ensure everyone is working together effectively.
+ Manage IT Projects and Programs: Oversee IT projects from start to finish, track progress and budgets, and make sure projects support the company's goals. Work with outside partners as needed.
+ Engage Stakeholders: Act as the main contact between IT and business teams. Gather requirements, share updates, and make sure everyone's needs are addressed. Lead meetings to report on project progress.
+ Manage Product Backlogs and Applications: Prioritize and update lists of work for software products. Oversee updates and improvements to company applications to make sure they deliver value.
+ Align IT with Business Goals: Make sure IT plans support business objectives. Work with business groups to understand their needs and suggest solutions that improve processes.
+ Develop Business Cases and Reports: Work with the IT Results Delivery Office to prepare business cases for new projects and communicate progress to stakeholders.
+ Implement and Integrate Solutions: Coordinate with teams and vendors to put new IT solutions in place and ensure different systems work well together.
+ Promote Innovation and Update Legacy Systems: Look for new ways to solve business problems with technology and help replace outdated systems with more modern solutions.
+ Manage and Develop Teams: Hire, coach, and support staff. Set expectations, provide feedback, and build teams focused on improvement and delivering results.

+ Bachelor's degree in computer science, business or related field or equivalent experience

+ 5 years of related experience determining and delivering against business requirements
+ 5 years of medium to large-scale program management experience

Unit Overview:

The Enterprise for Research, Innovation and Knowledge's Office of Research Information Systems (ORIS) team is responsible for providing services related to Data Analysis, Engineering, Integration, Management, Reporting and Security to all units and centers within ERIK.

Overview:

The ERIK Information Systems software development team designs, develops and supports applications that facilitate the business processes of all the units within ERIK.

The Senior Enterprise Applications Developer will be responsible for developing and maintaining software systems and web applications under the direction of ERIK business analysts and the software development team manager. Creates and develops new web applications; maintains existing web applications, migrates legacy applications to current technologies, integrates other external and internal systems, and other software lifecycle duties as assigned. Identifies opportunities for new software development or web application enhancements and provides recommendations to management team; partners with internal and external system engineers regarding new programming or system implementations, including the Huron Research Suite. Ensures compliance with university policies on digital security and digital accessibility.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer information science, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience with ReactJS, CSS, and TypeScript.
  • Experience utilizing REST and GraphQL web services.
  • Experience working with WCAG 2.X web accessibility standards.
  • Experience with software prototype generation.
  • Experience with package managers (such as yarn) and dependency troubleshooting.
  • Experience with application and design system documentation creation.
  • Working knowledge of design system creation tools; working knowledge of web application security standards.
  • Working knowledge of Git and CI deployment tools; ability to communicate clearly and effectively.

Desired Qualifications:

  • 4-8 years of web application development experience.
  • Experience with Material UI or similar component frameworks.
  • Experience creating/maintaining design systems.
  • Experience prototyping with Figma or Adobe XD.
  • Working knowledge of automated testing for user interfaces.
  • Working knowledge of Node.js frameworks such as Express.js or Next.js.
  • Working knowledge of databases.
  • Working knowledge of using Docker containers.

The Target Hiring Range for this position is $88,300 - $115,350. The salary offer for this position will fall within this range based on the candidate's qualifications, internal equity, and the unit's available budget, which will be the primary determining factor.
