**What role you will play in our team**
The Environmental Advisor position(s) provides environmental & regulatory compliance support to operating assets including refineries, chemical plants, production, processing and associated support facilities regarding national, federal, state and local environmental regulations. The Advisor may also assist in advocating company positions on emerging issues and regulations, primarily through national and or state trade organizations. Coordinates key environmental management processes in support of business units, including impact assessments, business planning, and regulatory advocacy.
**What you will do**
+ Provide support and assist in developing and implementing compliance strategies for U.S. refineries, chemical plants and production or processing facilities on Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and relevant state regulations including National Ambient Air Quality Standards, New Source Performance Standards, Hazardous Air Pollutant Regulations, Title V operating permits and New Source Review construction permits
+ Become familiar with operating assets, company environmental policy, and standards; Provide technical support for site environmental management processes
+ Support compliance assurance systems (e.g., preparation of regulatory outlooks, analysis of new regulations, preparation of regulatory interpretations, and preparing applicability determinations)
+ Assist in conducting workshops and training on existing and new EPA regulations and prepare compliance support tools (e.g. compliance checklists and manuals)
+ Utilize environmental experience in conducting periodic site compliance assessments
+ Support ExxonMobil advocacy staff on regulatory issues to help drive reasonable rulemaking and regulatory interpretations
+ Understand how company procedures and processes are used to drive environmental protection and regulatory compliance and support the corresponding work processes
**About you**

+ On-site environmental, technical, or operating experience at a chemical, refining or production facility

**What role you will play in our team**
The Sustainability Air Advisor will work within the Sustainability Department, GO&S Division in Beaumont, Texas. The Sustainability Department supports the Beaumont Refinery, Chemical Plant and the Polyethylene Plant. The Air Advisor supports the sites with analysis of air, waste and water regulations, applicability determinations, maintaining existing regulatory compliance systems, and air permit consultation. The Air Advisor may review physical and operational changes, including air permit requirements. Responsible for driving SSHE Functional Excellence by communicating values, displaying behaviors, and reinforcing standards consistent with site systems safety and environmental systems. The position will keep up-to-date with regulations and support ExxonMobil Advocacy staff to help drive reasonable rulemaking and interpretations.

+ Provide compliance support to the manufacturing sites including analysis of air regulations, applicability determinations, air permit consultation, Waste (RCRA) and Water (TPDES, Storm water & Potable)
+ Review physical and operational changes using systematic methods or Best Practices to ensure compliance with air, waste and water regulations, including air permit requirements
+ Understanding of how Title V permitting and compliance affect the supported sites
+ Evaluate, manage, and interpret data, make recommendations, and prepare written and verbal reports as needed

Your Opportunity
Stantec is seeking an individual to coordinate the implementation of Stantec's Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) program within the Environmental Services Business Operating Unit in the US. The position will be based out of one of our larger offices in the US and will report to a Business Line HSSE Manager.
This is a full-time position, and work hours will reflect the requirements of the geography.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Applies practical knowledge and experience to independently solve complex HSSE problems related to areas within their operational control.
- Act as a subject matter expert in a least one of Stantec's critical risks (e.g., ground disturbance, mobile and heavy equipment, work at heights) or HSSE related technical discipline (e.g., remedial construction, geotechnical, restoration, cultural).
- Work with the HSSE Manager to track and manage incidents, identify effective preventative and corrective actions, and develop and share lessons learned.
- Identify and lead process improvements in alignment with strategic goals.
- Provide coaching, advice, and direction to business line leadership on HSSE as it pertains to the services provided by the business.
- Support operations to effectively use Stantec's HSSE systems including the HSSE program manual, OHS management system, and safe work practices, as well as local legislation.
- Support project teams during internal and third party audits.
- Provide technical assistance to project teams with pre-job planning and hazard assessments for field activities and the integration of client HSSE requirements.
- Conduct field assessments, planned job observations, and worksite inspections independently and with leadership (which may require overnight travel) in support of the Business Operating Unit.
- Promote HSSE within the area of responsibility with the goal of continuous improvement of HSSE culture.
- Help identify medical surveillance requirements based on anticipated project exposures.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Professional safety certification will be considered an asset but is not required. Preferred certifications include: CSP/CRSP, CIH, SME - CMSP, ASP, GSP, OHST or CHST.
- Extensive experience in HSSE related to field operations is required.
- Maintain required field HSSE courses to work in the relevant sectors.
- Strong leadership skills and the capability to assess priorities and to work independently.
- Strong interpersonal skills. Capable of delivering, preparing, and presenting to small and large groups.
- A willingness to work in a team atmosphere or with a minimal amount of supervision.
- Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
- Requires up to 20% travel. Typically, 2 weeks or less in duration.
- Able to lift 50-lbs. and the ability to safely navigate stairs, ladders, and uneven terrain, enter active construction sites, enter structures under construction, and wear specialized personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
Education and Experience
- A minimum of 5-7 years' experience in a health and safety profession.
- Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field will be considered an asset but is not required.
- Experience providing safety support for large remedial construction or mining projects is preferred.

**Pay Range:**
- Locations in MN, VT, & Various CA, NY Areas - Min Salary $ 83,200.00 - Max Salary $120,600.00
- Locations in CO, HI, IL, MD & Various CA, NJ Areas - Min Salary 91,500.00 - Max Salary 132,700.00
- Locations in WA, DC & Various CA areas - Min Salary 98,200.00 - Max Salary 142,300.00
**Pay Transparency:** In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
