WSP is seeking a motivated **Senior Environmental Engineering Compliance Professional** to support our team in the Chelmsford and Boston, MA offices. These offices include a multi-disciplinary environmental, health & safety (EH&S) consulting team including engineers, scientists, and health and safety professionals. WSP offers the opportunity to work on technically challenging and innovative projects for a wide range of clients throughout the US.
**Key Responsibilities and Duties**
This position offers the opportunity to work with a diverse team of experienced EH&S engineers and scientists to address complex environmental challenges for our clients. The primary requirement of the position is environmental compliance experience with an in-depth knowledge of federal, state and local environmental regulations.
Additional responsibilities of the position are:
+ Ability to develop environmental standard operating procedures, guidance documents, and training programs based on federal, state and local regulations, as well as client company directives
+ Ability to conduct stormwater permitting & planning, wastewater permitting, SPCC planning, air emissions reporting & tracking, and chemical/hazardous material reporting (i.e., EPCRA/TURA)
+ Ability to manage environmental programs at client facilities
+ Ability to conduct environmental audits/inspections and provide recommendations for corrective actions
+ Assisting with the management of hazardous waste, including waste characterization, satellite area inspections, training, and correspondence with government agencies
+ Ability to conduct employee training on compliance related topics, policies, or procedures
+ Assist with industrial hygiene related projects, including personal air sampling, indoor air quality assessment, surface wipe sampling, facility decommissioning, qualitative assessments, etc.

**Role Requirements**
This role has the following requirements and the following preferred qualifications.
+ Bachelor's Degree required in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field; A Master's Degree is desirable
+ A minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience is required
+ Knowledge of USEPA, MassDEP regulations, as well as knowledge of USDOT, MWRA, and other federal, state, and local regulations
+ Familiarity with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint)
+ Valid driver's license and insurable driving record
+ Ability to travel frequently to local project sites
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills and organizational abilities
+ Enthusiasm for challenges and new initiatives
+ Demonstrated professional judgment, consistency and attention to detail
+ Adaptability and willingness to adjust to client needs

Under direct supervision will perform elementary environmental and/or fire protection engineering work in the field, office, or laboratory and receive training in engineering work of moderate difficulty and responsibility on the Assistant Environmental Engineer level. The work and training may be in one or more of the following engineering areas: development, design, drafting, specifications, estimating, construction, inspection, operations, maintenance, and in the areas described under Examples of Typical Tasks below; prepares associated reports and correspondence and maintains records; performs related work.
The Environmental Engineer Associate may also, under supervision:

Assists in research, investigations, or studies, related to the environmental and/or fire protection engineering functions or activities of a department or agency.

Assists in conducting emission inventory, discharge analysis, and other environmental engineering studies. Collects data to determine the source, nature, and extent of contaminants.

Analyzes equipment operation and process to determine operational or equipment changes on control equipment for effective control of emissions, discharges, or other environmental contaminants.

Assists in the conduct of environmental and/or fire protection engineering pilot studies, source and area sampling, including collection of samples, and other engineering tests on equipment and processes.

Qualifications
A baccalaureate degree in environmental, fire protection, chemical, mechanical, petroleum, aeronautical, or materials engineering from an accredited college; or
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in environmental, fire protection, chemical, mechanical, petroleum, aeronautical, or materials engineering technology and two years of full-time satisfactory experience in environmental engineering work.

**Key Responsibilities**
+ Environmental reporting and database management including but not limited to source testing, location summaries, Enablon support (Compliance Module), etc.
+ Field work at Food Plants and Mining & Manufacturing Facilities: this can include job shadowing and participation in air stack testing, groundwater sampling, sump monitoring, and various other field work.

**Job Description Summary**
+ Performs standardized or prescribed assignments involving a sequence of related operations.
+ Sets up and operates standard testing equipment of moderate complexity.
+ Performs fieldwork, including but not limited to environmental sampling, operations and maintenance and inspections at client sites.
+ Operates heavy equipment, including a tractor and attachments.
+ Other activities may include assisting with calculations, setting up and operating equipment, inspecting equipment and installations for compliance with specifications and maintaining proper project documentation.
+ Ability to work independently.

**Qualifications**
**Minimum Requirement:**
+ High School diploma +6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
+ Must pass a State and Federal criminal history/security pre-employment background check; many projects/ clients are security sensitive and require periodic post-employment background checks.
+ Ability to pass a client-mandated drug test.
+ Must possess a valid driver's license and clean driving record. Ability to travel to various client sites locations using a AECOM provided Vehicle to conduct fieldwork, including but not limited to environmental sampling, operations and maintenance and inspections.
