The Environmental Health & Safety Specialist is responsible ensuring all associates at our Indianapolis, Indiana manufacturing facility can safely help us achieve our mission and vision in scientific research, and medicine.
This position reports to the EHS&S Manager, dotted Plant Director, and is part of the Environmental Health & Safety Team located in Indianapolis, IN and will be an on-site role.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
+ Coach and serve as an EHS mentor for the site-level associates and be the point of contact for Environmental and Safety calls and supporting the EHS&S Manager.
+ Coordinate deployment of safety/environmental processes to maintain compliance of all legal, corporate policy, procedures and initiatives; research new or existing laws, rules, and regulations and make recommendations regarding appropriate actions.

**Responsibilities**
**PURPOSE** : Responsible for the overall coordination and implementation of environmental, health, safety and sustainability programs to assure compliance with regulatory agency guidelines and site policies. Leads all safety improvement process activities for the facility in support of Amcor's safety mission, policy, and values. Provides professional knowledge and expertise in the administration and support of environmental health and safety programs.
1. Develop, implement and manage safety programs, policies and procedures utilizing the Corporate EHS Framework and audit process.
2. Conduct facility audits to identify hazardous conditions/actions within the plant and recommend corrective measures. Oversee Safety Concerns and Near Misses reported by employees to ensure completion.
3. Create/review Risk Assessments, SOPs and work instructions related to safety.
4. Lead investigation team for all incidents, significant near misses and property losses and create associate reports, oversee corrective and preventative actions.
5. Organize, track and oversee all required safety training, i.e. fork truck, hazardous energy, fall protection, crane, etc.
6. Provide safety orientation to new employees and refresher training for all employees.
7. Conduct Management of Change (MOC)/Pre-startup Safety Review (PSSR) on new or modified equipment. Partner with project lead on major facility changes to provide EHS input into project planning.
8. Provide Supervisors/Production Shift Leads with safety training information for weekly and monthly safety meetings.
9. Provide weekly EHS reports to management; identify trends by analyzing injury/illness data and recommend corrective actions.
10. Manage online reporting database for all EHS incidents, Behavior based safety program and Corrective and Preventative Actions.
11. Assist inspection personnel from insurance carriers, OSHA, EPA, DOT, etc. Oversee all federal, state and local environmental permits and ensure compliance.
12. Assist in purchasing, identifying and distributing appropriate personal protective equipment.
13. Maintenance of OSHA 300/301 logs.
14. Supervise safety teams and other employee engagement activities, such as safety recognition/awards, first aid team and safety committee.
15. Approve new chemical purchases and maintain SDS sheets, Hazard Communication program and environmental reporting.
16. Recommend and budget for safety capital expenditure projects and annual safety budget.
