DESCRIPTION
Michael Baker International is seeking to hire an Environmental Planning Intern to remotely support our office in Santa Ana, CA . This internship is remote, and either part-time or full-time hours are available.
In this internship, you will work under the direction of Technical Managers, Environmental Planning Managers, Technical Specialists, and Environmental Planners to conduct an environmental review of projects in accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). You will also be involved with the preparation of environmental documentation and will have the opportunity to learn about the application of CEQA and/or NEPA on various types of projects, including with municipal clients, agencies, and private developers.
The position requires enthusiasm for research, data compilation, public policy and governmental regulations, planning involving communities, infrastructure, land development, housing, water, transportation, aviation, renewable energy or similar sectors.
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Planning, Environmental Science, Geology, Biology, Ecology or a related field is required
- Minimum of 1 year of coursework completed
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, are essential to success in this role
- Computer skills in Microsoft Office
- Proficiency in organization and presentation of documentation
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must have a can-do attitude and enjoy working with others.
- Strong writing, communication, technical analysis, computer research skills are essential.
- Successful candidates for this position will be motivated self-starters who can work independently and as part of a team.
COMPENSATION
The approximate compensation range for this position is $15- $25 per hour. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
