Michael Baker International is seeking to hire an Environmental Planning Intern to remotely support our offices in Los Angeles, CA and Long Beach, CA . Although this internship is remote, candidates are required to be located in either Los Angeles County or Orange County to be considered for this internship. Either part-time or full-time hours are available.

In this internship, you will work under the direction of a Project Manager and Environmental Planner to conduct environmental review of projects in accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). You will be involved with the preparation of environmental documentation and will have the opportunity to learn about the application of CEQA and/or NEPA on various types of projects, including with municipal clients, agencies, and private developers.

The position requires enthusiasm for research, data compilation, public policy and governmental regulations, planning involving communities, infrastructure, land development, housing, water, transportation, aviation, renewable energy or similar sectors.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Planning, Environmental Science, Geology, Biology, Ecology or a related field is required
  • Minimum of 1 year of coursework completed
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Located in Los Angeles County preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, are essential to success in this role
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Office
  • Proficiency in organization and presentation of documentation
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be located in Los Angeles County
  • Must have a can-do attitude and enjoy working with others.
  • Strong writing, communication, technical analysis, computer research skills are essential.

COMPENSATION
The approximate compensation range for this position is $20- $25 per hour. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.

**Environmental Planning Manager**
**Job Description:**
AECOM is actively recruiting for an **Environmental Planning Manager** to support a major Design-Build transportation project in north Metropolitan Atlanta. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Alpharetta, GA.
The selected candidate will join an interdisciplinary team working on the **SR 400 Express Lanes** project, which involves the construction of express lanes along a 16-mile corridor of SR 400. The role requires managing environmental processes in alignment with engineering milestones in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. The candidate will work in a fast-paced dynamic environment, performing multiple concurrent program and environmental tasks in managing the environmental process to align with engineering milestones. Some of the elements include meetings, coordinating with the multiple stakeholder teams, overseeing environmental compliance, coordinating with GDOT, and overseeing the NEPA process.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ Lead environmental planning efforts in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and GDOT's environmental procedures and schedule management for the GDOT Department Process.
+ Manage environmental compliance audits and coordinate permitting (Sections 10/404/401).
+ Align environmental deliverables with project schedules and engineering milestones.
+ Collaborate with GDOT and other stakeholders to ensure regulatory compliance and timely project delivery.
+ Engage with state and federal agencies (e.g., GA EPD, GA WRD, USACE, USFWS) to secure necessary environmental clearances.
+ Provide program management support, including budget oversight, staffing coordination, and schedule management.
+ Mentor junior staff and support business development initiatives.
+ Conduct and present findings in meetings with clients, agencies, and the public.
+ Author and review technical documents, ensuring high-quality environmental reporting and analysis.
+ Perform fieldwork, data collection, GIS mapping, and technical reviews as needed.
+ Prepares NEPA documentation in compliance with the GDOT Environmental Procedures Manual and Guidebooks.
**Qualifications**
**Minimum:**
+ BS/BS Environmental, Ecology, Biology or a related field
+ 6 years of Environmental Planning or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
+ Experience with the Georgia Department of Transportation and state and federal agencies tasked with regulatory requirements for transportation projects in Georgia
+ Proficiency in technical writing and environmental documentation.
**Preferred:**
+ Proven experience managing environmental aspects of GDOT transportation projects.
+ Strong leadership experience and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Base pay range $155,000.00/yr - $00,000.00/yr About The Job Job Type: Full-time Description RICK (formerly referred to as RICK Engineering Company) is a California-based engineering, planning, and design firm that’s been in business for more than 70 years. We have grown our employee base and expanded geographically and are looking to continue that growth by expanding our Environmental Services Division. RICK is seeking a team-oriented and motivated Director of Environmental Services with critical and strategic thinking skills and a strong work ethic, to join our team in our headquarters location in San Diego, California. RICK provides CEQA and NEPA services to both the public and private sectors. The position will include an emphasis on growth of a new service area through marketing, proposal preparation, and business development as well as project delivery. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the preparation and processing of CEQA compliance documents and related technical studies as well as client expectations, project schedules, and budget. Duties include document preparation; coordination with other environmental planning staff, subconsultant technical specialists and other subconsultants; budget and invoice management; as well as interaction with clients and reviewing agencies (county, city, CDFW, RWQCB, USACE). Proposal preparation and business development are also required, and the successful candidate must possess the experience, communication skills, and interest for these activities. The ideal Director of Environmental Services candidate must also possess strong Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) and interpersonal skills along with the proven ability to build collaborative relationships among team members, other RICK staff, clients, subconsultants, and agencies. Responsibilities also include business development with Southern California agencies and clients to grow a new service area at RICK and leadership of 2-5 staff members. Why work at RICK? Requirements Minimum Requirements for Director of Environmental Services Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in environmental studies, environmental science, environmental engineering, public planning, or a related field. 15 or more years of experience is preferred. (Candidates with less experience but otherwise excellent credentials will also be considered.) Candidate should have a strong understanding of San Diego and broader Southern California region and relationship(s) with agencies or key clients is preferred. Experience in leading proposals and business pursuits and marketing of environmental consulting services. Existing client relationships and ability to build relationships with a wide variety of people. Excellent writing, verbal communication, analytical, and presentation skills. Strong attention to detail, including strong spelling, proofreading, and organizational skills. Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Additional Skills Preferred Master’s (or equivalent) in environmental studies, environmental science, geography, natural science, environmental engineering, public planning, business, or related field. Experience with a variety of planning, infrastructure, and development project types, CEQA/NEPA document types, and private sector/public agency clients. Extensive work experience and client relationships within Southern California. Compensation The approximate compensation range for this position $155 000 to 200,000 per year. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
