**Description**
This position is responsible for the managerial direction and leadership of the Environmental Studies Department of the Environmental Services Global Practice at our World Headquarters in Kansas City. Specific areas of responsibility include the following, with other duties as assigned by senior management:
+ Assign work and review performance to ensure the efficient, cost-effective utilization of staff.
+ Recruitment, development, training and retention of staff.
+ Interpret policies, purposes, and goals of organization to staff.
+ Serve as the technical advisor, provide senior-level input and evaluation on a variety of environmental studies and deliverables.
+ Demonstrate creativity, foresight and mature judgment in anticipating and solving problems.
+ Determine departmental objectives and requirements, organize projects and develop standards and guidelines.
+ Prepare and monitor department budget and expenditure of funds for staff hours, supplies, training, and equipment.
+ Recommend changes in basic structure and organization of the department to ensure the effective fulfillment of objectives assigned to it.
+ Build effective relationships with existing clients, customers and contractors and develop new business opportunities.
+ Responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction goals and expectations are met.
+ Participate in sales and marketing efforts and identify key pursuits.
+ Lead the development of cost proposals and qualification statements to achieve stated targets and standards for financial performance.
+ Prepare and present project budgets and cost estimates.
+ Report project performance.
+ Provide leadership, guidance and instruction to the environmental studies practice.
+ Mentor and guide less experienced environmental professionals.
+ Work to assess opportunities to expand environmental services within the office and evaluate opportunities to cross-sell other services for other Global Practices.
+ Promote profitable and sound growth.
+ Achieve stated targets and standards for financial performance.
+ Identify and market services to clients and internal stakeholders to meet sales goals, profitability, and objectives for department.
+ Understand the direction and trends in technology and the Environmental Studies industry for the Environment Services service offerings in each respective market sector and provide guidance to staff to align our services with industry trends.
+ Responsible for QA/QC process adherence.
+ Responsible for effective communication with other disciplines.
+ Responsible for compliance with company and site safety policies.
**Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering or related field from accredited program.
+ Minimum 7 years related professional experience in routing, state licensing and permitting, and environmental studies and/or project management.
+ Detailed knowledge and practical experience working on NEPA projects with various market sectors including Utilities, Renewables, Transportation and/or Oil, Gas & Chemicals.
+ Previous management experience is preferable.
+ Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients.
+ Position requires the ability to thoughtfully and positively influence, lead, and manage change.
+ Candidates must possess strong project management skills and a strategic perspective.
+ Must be proficient in the use of basic computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
+ An advanced degree and or professional license are desirable.
+ Position requires 25% travel.

Because this appointment is temporary in nature, you will not be eligible to receive all of the benefits normally provided to faculty under the standard University of Colorado benefits programs ( . **Summary**
The College of Letters, Arts, and Science (LAS) at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) will establish and maintain a pool of Lecturers in Geography and Environmental Studies from which future appointments to temporary, non-tenure track positions will be made. Appointments are part-time (less than 50% time) and will be made semester-by-semester.
The position is responsible for teaching various courses for Geography and Environmental Studies, however, exact courses taught will depend on need at the time of hire The courses may be in person or online.

The technical areas encompassed by this position include environmental studies, NEPA analysis, permitting, siting, routing, project management, client development, and other various environmental services.
This position provides the opportunity to challenge and grow professionally within one of the industry's leading firms. Be on a team that solves our client's issues and problems for environmental and engineering practices in the project planning and development, permitting, design, and remediation service space. This individual will enhance our existing environmental and routing/siting presence in the region working closely with established clients across multiple markets. Additionally, the ideal candidate will help expand our environmental and routing/siting services and client base in the region.
The candidate should have an established and successful history managing and leading tasks for both small and large-scale routing/siting, NEPA and related projects, including but not limited to assisting with developing proposals and cost estimates, executing project tasks, managing project budgets and forecasts, delivering client satisfaction, and mentoring staff for a variety of industry types including renewable energy, electrical utility, midstream oil and gas, power generation, and others.
The Project Manager will work within our Environmental Services Global Practice to perform the following duties:
+ Project management, team leadership, management & mentoring of junior staff.
+ Preparing routing and siting studies and evaluations, NEPA documentation, and Federal and state documentation for all types and sizes of environmental projects.
+ Business development and networking.
+ Assisting with and leading proposal and cost estimating efforts for environmental and siting projects.
+ Regularly interface with various agencies, clients, and team members.
+ Executing project tasks, managing project budgets and forecasts, and delivering client satisfaction.
+ Demonstrating creativity, foresight and mature judgment in anticipating and solving problems.
+ Developing, cultivating, and strengthening relationships with clients.
+ Other duties as assigned.
Qualified candidates will have experience in the following areas and with the regulatory requirements and processes of the following agencies:
+ National Environmental Policy Act
+ State and Local Environmental and Land Use Permitting
+ Energy Facility Siting and Licensing
+ U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
+ U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service
+ National Marine Fisheries Service

**Qualifications**
+ B.S. or M.S. in environmental sciences, natural sciences, planning or related degree from an accredited program.
+ Applicable years of experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
+ Minimum 7 years of related consulting experience in a wide variety of areas ranging from leading and managing technical teams, project management and business development (including 7 or more years managing engineering or environmental projects) and must also be able to effectively balance their direct and indirect utilization rates. 10 years of related experience preferred.
+ Local, regional, and national knowledge and relationships with own existing clients are strongly preferred.
+ Demonstrated technical competence and project experience in natural, cultural, or socioeconomic resource fields applicable to industrial (primarily conventional or renewable energy generation/transmission) siting and licensing and environmental permitting projects.
+ Must have the ability to deal effectively with a wide variety of industry, government, and public contracts on project-related matters.
+ Candidate must demonstrate the ability to attract and retain clients and build a backlog, revenue, profit, direct labor, and return on investment (ROI) over time.
+ Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills are required to develop and maintain relationships.
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
+ Working understanding of GIS.
+ Excellent writing skills.
+ Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office suite.
+ Strong experience working with both private and public-sector clients.
+ Client relationship development experience is a plus.
**Compensation**
$130,000.00-225,000.00 Yearly
The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The expected compensation range for this position is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
