The Laboratory Technician I, using general laboratory methods, techniques, equipment, and instrumentation in compliance with Eurofins Environment Testing America’s Quality Assurance programs and standard operating procedures, supports laboratory operations through general maintenance of laboratory and supply storage areas, equipment, instruments, and supplies.
Shift & Hours: Position is full time, Monday-Friday 7:00am-4:00pm
Compensation (DOE) - $16.50/hourly Plus Full Benefits
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs routine lab tasks that provide experience and familiarization with methods, practices, and programs. These include:
- Preparation of samples using standard techniques
- Performing chemical analysis using standard techniques
- Calculating data
- Recording and reporting data and any unusual test occurrences to the supervisor
- Performing routine instrument maintenance
- Responsible for performing job functions in compliance with EHS and QA standards
- Responsible for general housekeeping in his/her work area
- Ability to become trained and competent on complex instrumentation including but not limited to gas chromatography, gas chromatography/mass spectrometry, atomic absorption, ICP, and instrument specific data systems.
Secondary Duties
- Works under close supervision using routine and standard methods
- Aliquots and weighs samples
- Washes glassware

Physical Requirements
- Lifting and Carrying: Lifting up to 50 pounds and carrying up to 30 pounds when moving samples and disposing of waste
- Pushing and Pulling: Pushing and pulling up to 200 pounds when moving sample carts and gas tanks
- Body Positions: Approximately 60% of time standing when analyzing samples, 10% walking when moving about laboratory, and 30% sitting when working at computer, doing paper work, or analyzing samples. These percentages vary significantly Page 4- Analyst I depending upon duties being performed. Must be able to sit, stand, or stoop for long periods of time.
- Body Movements: Stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching when getting samples and performing analyses

In this important position, you will conduct Stack Emissions Testing including equipment preparation, deployment, staging/breakdown, sample collection and recovery. During our comprehensive training process, you will learn the following responsibilities, and once experienced, have the opportunity for rapid advancement:
- Conduct on-site field testing in a professional manner and transport testing equipment to customer sites
- Follow all test methods, procedures, and processes for quality source testing
- Apply careful mechanical and electrical skills while troubleshooting testing systems
Qualifications:
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Enjoy being outdoors, working safely in all weather conditions
- Ability and desire to climb stairs and ladders and work at elevated heights
- Degree in environmental, engineering, or mechanical sciences, or related experience skill and ability is highly
- Experience related to environmental response/sample collection, mechanical, construction, or electrical work is helpful and
- Experience with or strong aptitude to learn the use of the MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) & Adobe products
- Ability and desire to be on your feet, lift equipment up to 75 pounds, climb ladders or stairs and work at elevated heights and use tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity
- Ability to distinguish between shades of is critical for safety
