LTC Language Solutions is seeking contract ESL instructors for our clients in Chattanooga, TN. Since 1993, we have been providing one-on-one language and cultural training for relocating expat families. Each assignment is contracted separately, so the details below will vary:

  • Language Class : Private English tutoring for adults and children, from basic to advanced levels.
  • Location : Virtual or Face-to-face. Lessons are often held at the student's home or workplace. Instructors must reside in the greater Chattanooga area.  Any applicants outside the Chattanooga area will be auto-rejected by the system. If you are planning to move to Chattanooga, please answer "yes" and explain when you will relocate. 
  • Schedule : TBD -  typically 2-5 hours per week, though more are potentially avaialble (typically 60- or 90-minute sessions)
  • Start : Throughout the year
  • Duration : Ranging from 30 to 90 hours of classes

The International Center provides educational programming for newly arrived immigrants and refugees with the goal of improving learners’ English proficiency and communication skills. The incumbent will develop, design, and deliver thoughtful and effective ESOL classes and provide individual support and connection to services for day laborers and their families at our office in Yonkers.

Responsibilities:


Instructional responsibilities:

The incumbent is responsible for overall beginner ESOL course development and instruction in the Yonkers ESOL program.

  • In coordination with the Director of Programs, design and deliver in-person, 10-week ESOL courses over three semesters each year (September-June).
  • Create thorough and well-developed beginner ESOL class curricula focusing on communicative competence for immigrants. In line with the current pedagogy, content will be meaningful and relevant to students’ self-sufficiency outside the classroom.
  • Create and maintain physical and digital student portfolios and files.
  • Support one part-time instructor and any program volunteer.
  • Case Management responsibilities:

The incumbent will serve as the first point of contact and manage and support students enrolled in the Yonkers ESOL program.

  • Assess the needs of students enrolled in the International Center’s Yonkers ESOL program. Work with other programs and Center staff and additional CCCS services, including the Day Laborer Program (DLP), to address student needs outside the classroom.
  • Actively research and create awareness of educational, medical, counseling, and legal services available in Yonkers and Westchester County. Maintain an extensive referral network for these services.
  • Hold weekly office hours for students to ensure they are working toward their identified goals. Work one-on-one with participants as needed. Provide ongoing support to promote learning, engagement, and retention. Manage WhatsApp groups and provide regular outreach and encouragement to students.
  • Conduct participant intake including BEST Plus 3.0 pre- and post-testing, assess language proficiency, and identify goals.
  • With DLP staff, conduct bi-monthly workshops based on student needs such as study skills, financial literacy, continuing education options, and job readiness.
  • Track and enter student data, attendance, and case notes into funder and internal databases, including ASISTS and Zoho.
  • Track and analyze attendance, learner feedback, class surveys/needs assessments, qualitative evaluation, and assist with reporting.

Training and Staff Development:

  • Provide pedagogical support and act as a resource to other program instructors and volunteers.
  • Actively participate in internal professional development, designated meetings, and special events, as appropriate and requested. Attend 14 hours of in-person professional development provided by the Hudson Valley Regional Adult Education Network (RAEN) each contract year.

Additional:

  • Provide general administrative and program support for other Center programming as needed, including assisting with student registration, pre- and post-testing students using BEST Plus 3.0. Substitute as an ESOL class instructor as needed.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position and work hours are Monday through Friday with evening hours required. Classes are held on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30pm. Weekend hours may be required to meet student needs.

**What You'll Do:**
As an SLP-I, you'll play a vital role in supporting students with communication challenges by:
+ Conducting **comprehensive assessments** in speech, language, oral motor, and feeding/swallowing.
+ Developing and implementing **individualized intervention plans** aligned with each student's IEP.
+ Delivering services in diverse settings including **pull-out, classroom, and co-teaching formats** .
+ Collaborating with families, educators, and other professionals to ensure **educational benefit** .
+ Maintaining detailed documentation in compliance with **MSDE, ASHA, and departmental standards** .
+ Participating in **team meetings, staff development, and community outreach** .
**What You Bring:**
+ Master's degree in **Speech-Language Pathology** .
+ **Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP)** from ASHA.
+ **Maryland State Licensure** (or eligibility).
+ Experience working with children with communication disorders.
