Reporting to the Director of Estimating, the Estimating Lead will be responsible for the preparation of compliant and comprehensive construction estimates, budget and schedules, and ensure the necessary systems and procedures are in place, to manage Aecon's risk. They will mentor junior estimators and create innovative estimating ideas to contribute to Aecon's ability to win work and generate revenue.

What You'll Do Here
* Responsible for participating in design reviews for Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP), Civil and Architectural Subcontract packages with client key stakeholders.
* Perform value engineering and take part in constructability reviews during the preconstruction cycle.
* Drive the production of detailed cost budgets on successfully bid projects
* Partner in collecting and maintaining a historical cost data base on past construction projects to be used in estimating new work
* Oversee projects that have been successfully bid and are under construction to learn the actual methods and costs of field operations
* Execute accurate quantity takeoffs and unit pricing utilizing estimating software
* Connect with appropriate vendors and suppliers to obtain pricing information
* Solicit scopes of work and quotations from subcontractors
* Maintain material pricing information in estimating database
* Develop a mastery of the means and methods of construction and the impact on the overall project cost
* Lead turnover meetings with Project Management on successful bids, review documents, compile proposal information and oversee closing meetings
* Site visits may be required on more complex tenders
What You Bring To The Team
* Diploma or Degree within Engineering, Project Management or equivalent combination of training
* Minimum 8-10 years of experience in leading cost management on medium or large sized construction projects of medium to high complexity
* Good knowledge of construction industry technical matters, such as different procurement routes, value management and value engineering
* Working knowledge of MS Excel/Word/Project, Autodesk (AutoCAD), Bluebeam, P6, In -eight (Hard Dollar), or similar estimating software
* Strong knowledge of project controls, including costs and scheduling and general requirements of construction projects
* Have prior conceptual estimating experience or understanding
* Expert in reading and understanding construction drawings and documents
* Thorough knowledge of contract language/Terms and Conditions/Bonding, etc.
* RICS accredited/ AACE or working towards is valuable but not required
* Proven experience leading large bids involving multiple work types/disciplines
* Commercial nuclear or Federal work experience is a plus

Position Overview
This is a skilled position as an experienced Estimating Manager involving the final review and submission of quantity estimates using material, labor and overhead costs and management of projects that are awarded to the company.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
- Identify, analyze and maximize bidding opportunities within geographical market while aligning estimating resources towards successful bidding.
- Allocate estimating personnel resources considering the workload of staff and experience to maximize successful bid opportunity.
- Maintain a current market awareness of pricing and backlog.
- Develop and maintain system to ensure actual field conditions are considered, reflected and used in the bidding process - i.e., active participation in postmortems.

**Electrical Division**

The Estimating Coordinator is responsible for supporting the estimating team in preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for construction projects. **Qualifications**
Minimum Requirements:
+ Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Preferred Qualifications:
