Position Overview
This is a skilled position as an experienced Estimating Manager involving the final review and submission of quantity estimates using material, labor and overhead costs and management of projects that are awarded to the company.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
- Identify, analyze and maximize bidding opportunities within geographical market while aligning estimating resources towards successful bidding.
- Allocate estimating personnel resources considering the workload of staff and experience to maximize successful bid opportunity.
- Maintain a current market awareness of pricing and backlog.
- Develop and maintain system to ensure actual field conditions are considered, reflected and used in the bidding process - i.e., active participation in postmortems.
- Ensure quantities, scope(s), specification considerations are accurate in all estimates prior to bid submission.
- Champion DBE (minority) requirements, law, specifications as required.
- Build estimating capabilities through leadership of estimating staff - build senior estimators.
- Assist during design build pursuits.
- Analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals and other documents to prepare time, material, equipment, production and labor estimates.
- Review estimates for planning purposes and detailed estimates based on final plans and specifications.
- Consult with clients, vendors and others to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
- Maintain current and accurate information on prices from suppliers and contractors through direct contact and written materials.
- Manage the preparation of bid packages, estimates and analysis of subcontractor bids for projects of any size and complexity.
- Ensure estimating staff are checking daily cost for correctness, compliance with estimated cost, and if over budget ensure the follow-through for corrective action.
- Participating in project Hand-Offs where necessary and beneficial with designated project team.

Education/Experience
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, Construction Management or other related fields is a plus. A minimum of 5 years' construction estimating experience is preferred with; or an equivalent of education and experience will be accepted.

We specialize in fast-track projects in new commercial construction for both public and private clients, with a primary focus in the Department of Defense market.This position is responsible for managing the daily operations, proposals, projects, and personnel of the Electrical Estimating Department and to track potential leads for future projects. The Estimating Manager is responsible for more than one project at a time, all in support of RQ's Mission, Vision, and Values.Pay range: $125-$150kRequirements are as follows:A BA/BS degree in minimum formal education required for this position. Equivalent work experience will be considered.Twelve or more years' experience or equivalent in architectural/ engineering/ construction estimating and related functions, including strategies, techniques, and contracting required.Conceptual and Hard-Bid estimating required.Project and performance management work experience required.Previous work experience in the construction design-build industry, including work with contractors and subcontractors in both private and the Department of Defense (DoD) markets required.Computer literacy (Microsoft Office - esp.
