Job Summary

This position is responsible for the evaluation of coursework from other institutions for transfer to Middle Georgia State University and provides other customer service functions.

Responsibilities

Evaluating Transcripts (90%) -

Evaluates transferable credits from academic transcripts from other institutions.

Develops and maintains automated transfer evaluation catalogs; updates catalogs annually.

Meets with deans, department chairs and students to explain evaluation determinations as needed.

Research and processes Transfer Credit Reconsideration requests.

Processes requests for credit for non-traditional sources; notifies students of outcome.

Processes all source documents for new students.

Other Duties (10%) -

Process reports pertaining to transfer work students.

Assists with a variety of other Registrar's Office activities.

Responds to queries from faculty, staff and students on a range of academic policies and procedures.

Provides information and assistance.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a baccalaureate degree.

Required Experience

Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.

Position Purpose
Provides educational assessment services for students referred to special education programs; assists in coordination of special education program, coordinates and facilitates Admission, Review, and Dismissal Committee meetings. Maintains compliance of all federal laws regarding Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEIA).

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Assists in the coordination of special education services in assigned schools.
  • Provides individualized student assessment to determine eligibility for special education services.
  • Compiles and evaluates comprehensive student information including classroom observations; personal interviews with the student, teacher(s), parents, and others; and relevant assessment data from student's cumulative folder.
  • Interprets assessment information to school personnel, parents, and community agencies.
  • Employs assessment data to prepare comprehensive assessment reports.
  • Maintains and reviews current data in student eligibility folders, and transfers folders as needed.
  • Uses the Special Education Electronic Management System to facilitate ARDs, to retrieve information, and manage all information for students with disabilities.
  • Maintains compliance with IDEIA rules, regulations, and timelines.
  • Trains special education staff in assigned schools in preparing required paperwork.
  • Assists staff in preparing official reports required by local, state, and federal agencies.
  • Coordinates compliance directives with campus administration.
  • Participates in the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee meeting to assist with interpretation of assessment data, appropriate placement, and development of Individual Education Plans (IEP) for students according to District procedures.
  • Participates in campus multidisciplinary team to develop solutions for all struggling students.
  • Assists classroom teachers with implementation of IEP.
  • Acts as consultant to assist with Response to Intervention (RTI) and 504 interventions for students being considered for special education.
  • Coordinates with Directors regarding compliance and programmatic issues on campuses.
  • Presents professional learning training on special education related topics.
  • Maintains security of confidential materials and equipment.
  • Assists with assessments programs and projects.

  • Experience:

The Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) released a gap analysis report in February 2025 and is now using its findings to collaborate with sister state departments and key stakeholders to develop a multi-year roadmap to integrate select Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) services into managed care. DHCS plans to draft and submit a concept paper for HCBS managed care integration to the Centers of Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) in early 2026 before finalizing the multi-year roadmap, with integration occurring no earlier than 2028.

The California Department of Public Health (CDPH), Office of AIDS (OA), Quality Improvement Health Care Specialist 4, provides highly specialized nurse consultation, technical assistance (TA), training and education to CDPH/OA staff and Medi-Cal Waiver Program (MCWP) Agency personnel. Uses practical nursing knowledge, professional expertise, and sound clinical judgment to serve as the MCWP Nurse performing all MCWP clinical functions to ensure that MCWP participants receive high quality and appropriate care, that MCWP Agencies meet state and federal clinical compliance requirements, and that CDPH/OA meets Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) 1915(C) MCWP Waiver requirements. Evaluates and certifies Nursing Facility Level of Care (NF LOC) for MCWP participants, conducts the clinical portion of Program Compliance Reviews (PCRs) through on-site monitoring and desk audits for MCWP Agencies, and documents progress on meeting CMS HCBS performance measures. Creates and facilitates clinical internal and external trainings, and writes the clinical sections of MCWP plans, reports, surveys, drills, and requests for information. Analyzes medical data and documentation, identifies trends and barriers, develops and presents recommendations to CDPH/OA management.

Must have the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple competing tasks, be flexible with changing priorities, and monitor time efficiently to complete all deliverables. Must be able to work as an independent subject matter expert on clinical nursing tasks and collaboratively on a team with analysts, specialists, managers, and state department partners. Must be open-minded when dealing with the public, be able to communicate with difficult people, and handle public inquiries received by the HIV Care Branch. Requires outstanding verbal and written communication skills with the ability to translate complex clinical regulatory requirements and convey information to multiple audiences in an accurate, concise, and effective manner. Must maintain knowledge of HIV, case management practices, healthcare systems, Medi-Cal, and Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) waiver requirements. Required to research and communicate to their direct supervisor any new significant clinical developments, changes in nurse case management practices or requirements, and elevate clinical concerns promptly. Must have advanced knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Teams, and PowerPoint. Heavy travel required. Performs other duties as assigned.

The Billing Specialist position is responsible for a variety of duties, as assigned by a manager, which include routine billing payment posting, and problem-solving for various types of facilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Process invoices for payment from diagnostic facilities according to Medicare rates.
- Analyze accounts and use proper CPT codes and correct rates.
- Send out the denial letters to facilities for procedures, codes, and dates of service not ordered, or to request more information if needed.
- Ensure all doctors and claims status calls are answered in a professional manner.
- Process transportation expense claims for Veterans.
- Answer faxes and emails received from both hospitals and read facilities.

- Process Independent Medical Opinion payments.
