Job Description
Farm to People seeks an organized, systems-driven Events & Catering Chef to lead our vibrant Catering & Events division. You will be primarily responsible for executing high-quality off-site catering and on-site events, bringing the Farm to People culinary experience directly to our clients and their guests. During slower event periods, you will provide support to our commissary kitchen's prepared foods production team.
What You’ll Do:- Lead the on-site execution of culinary operations for weddings, private dinners, corporate catering events, brand activations and more. Plus, all pre-event sampling events/tastings ensuring flawless presentation and service.
- Research, develop, design, prepare, and present Farm to People’s signature menus with a focus on quality, creativity, and the utilization of fresh, local/seasonal ingredients.
- Manage all aspects of events, including supervising cooks and kitchen assistants, maintaining workflow, and upholding our high standards, with clear, easy-to-understand prep sheets and execution plans provided.
- Help launch, grow, and refine our off-site catering business and offerings through market research and client feedback.
- Oversee the meticulous packing, transportation, and setup of all culinary equipment, food, and supplies for off-site events.
- Ensure strict adherence to food safety and sanitation protocols at all venues.
- Collaborate with the Events team to fulfill client menus, dietary restrictions, and specific day-of expectations.
- Assist in managing food/labor costs, vendor orders, and DOH compliance.
- Provide skilled support to the Prepared Foods team during non-event days, assisting with large-scale production for our online retail line.
- Utilize your culinary expertise to efficiently execute tasks including prep work, cooking, portioning, and packaging.
- Assist in maintaining kitchen organization, inventory, and cleanliness to support overall kitchen operations.
- Purchase all food, supplies, and accessories for BOH event while staying within budget.
- Recruit, train, and manage event staff, ensuring everyone is prepared on schedule to execute seamless, high-quality events.
- Develop processes and create documentation to improve efficiencies across event operations.
- 3+ years experience in catering / events culinary management role
- Flexibility to work AM/PM shifts based on event schedules

The Event & Catering Manager will plan the operation aspects of banquets, meetings, weddings, and other social or business functions; supply food and other services; and supervise event & catering staff.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
• Supervises event & catering staff on-site.
• Ensures that members of the event & catering staff interact with guests in a courteous and professional manner.
Duties/Responsibilities:

• Partakes in walk-throughs and client meetings.
Addresses concerns about menu items, venues and staffing; suggest rental and decor.
• Pre-Event: Develop event sheets; plan menu selections in collaboration with our chefs; create floor plans; source and price rental orders; coordinate with venue partners and conduct site visits; allocate event labor in collaboration with our staffing manager; and create packing lists in collaboration with our warehouse team.
• At the Event: Collaborates with Lead-Steward regarding equipment, event set-up, roll-out and conclusion.
• Sets up and arranges tables and chairs, serving stations, lines, tableware, serve ware, and silver ware.
• Ensures the venue is clean and that food is handled in a sanitary manner and beverage standards are met consistently.
• Concludes event in proper and concise manner, including return of all company equipment.
• Maintains accurate records of staffing and labor for catering services.
• Provides onsite coordination and actively communicate with the client, vendors, and venue; ensure the event is set up as agreed with the client; communicate with the event captain to ensure the event staff are appropriately allocated and food and beverage are appropriately served and in accordance with the event timeline; all guests and staff are safe and following venue regulations; and direct the break down and load out at the conclusion of the event.
• Post-Event: Follow-up with the client, vendors, and venues to gain additional insight about the event; evaluate and determine what went well and areas of improvement; inventory and organize; submit receipts and prepare any additional accounting for weekly recap meetings.
• Engage with and cultivate strong relationships with our clients, our vendors, and our internal teams
• Addresses problems or complaints concerning food or services provided.
• Performs other related duties as required.
• Assist the Sales & Design Team with any ad-hoc projects that may arise.
