This position is located in the Department of Human Services (DHS), Office of the Director (OD), Office of Program Review, Monitoring, and Investigations (OPRMI). The mission of the DC Department of Human Services is to empower every District resident to reach their full potential by providing meaningful connections to work opportunities, economic assistance, and supportive services. The incumbent in this role is responsible for the oversight and management of all case reviews for federally mandated quality control (QC) programs for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Medicaid, and other programs under DHS purview.

About OPRMI
OPRMI is responsible for preventing fraud, waste and abuse in the administration of social service programs, and to ensure compliance and accountability with Federal and District statutes, regulations, and procedures governing DHS' programs.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Supervisory Quality Control Examiner manages an assigned team within the Quality Control (QC) Division responsible for highly specialized and complex review of QC samples assigned to their team. Possesses extensive knowledge of QC programs, policies, and regulations and is responsible for staying up to date with new policy guidance, regulatory changes, and best practices. Assigns and reviews work, ensures effective utilization of personnel, evaluates employee performance, recommends personnel actions, and provides training and guidance to maintain a highly skilled workforce. Investigates and resolves employee complaints, recommends disciplinary actions when necessary, and fosters a positive and productive work environment.
The Supervisory Quality Control Examiner extracts and analyzes data from QC reviews to identify trends and monitor progress on error reduction initiatives. Prepares reports and correspondence, including statistical and narrative analyses on trends, policy impacts, and operational issues. Provides recommendations for policy and procedural changes to reduce errors and to improve program operations and the accuracy of eligibility determinations.
Qualifications and Education
Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, one (1) year of specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression.

Our Examiners are focused on the sales practices of each individual advisor and the books and records requirements of each office to ensure adherence to compliance with all applicable regulations. The Examiner will consult with branch managers, advisors, and support staff and provide direction on maintaining branch offices in accordance with federal and state regulations, FINRA and other SRO regulations and LPL Financial policies and procedures. This is a hybrid position, with the requirement for travel and a proximity to a regional airport location.

What you'll do:- Adjusts complex auto and homeowner bodily injury claims with significant injuries (e.g. traumatic brain injury, disfigurement, fatality) and UM/UIM, and small business claims, as well as some auto physical damage associated with those claims. Identifies, confirms, and makes coverage decisions on complex claims.
- Investigates loss details, determines legal liability, evaluates, negotiates, and adjudicates claims appropriately and timely; within appropriate authority guidelines with clear documentation to support accurate outcomes.
- Prioritizes and manages assigned claims workload to keep members and other involved parties informed and provides timely claims status updates.
- Collaborates and supports team members to resolve issues and identifies appropriate matters for escalation.
- Partners and/or directs vendors and internal business partners to facilitate timely claims resolution.
- Serves as a resource for team members on complex claims.
- Delivers a best-in-class member service experience by setting appropriate expectations and providing proactive communication.
- Supports workload surges and catastrophe (CAT) response operations as needed, including mandatory on-call dates and potential evening, weekend, and/or holiday work outside normal work hours.
- May be assigned CAT deployment travel with minimal notice during designated CATs.
- Works various types of claims, including ones of higher complexity, and may be assigned additional work outside normal duties as needed.
- Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
What you have:
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma.
- 4 years auto claims and injury adjusting experience.
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of the auto claims contract, investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and accurate adjudication of claims as well as application of case law and state laws and regulations.
- Advanced negotiation, investigation, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
- Demonstrated strong time-management and decision-making skills.
- Proven investigatory, prioritizing, multi-tasking, and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced knowledge of human anatomy and medical terminology associated with bodily injury claims.
- Ability to exercise sound financial judgment and discretion in handling insurance claims.
- Advanced knowledge of coverage evaluation, loss assessment, and loss reserving.
