Job Description
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for performing application work such as creating drawings, schematics, weight studies, and bills of materials (BOM). You will identify when engineering support is necessary to ensure a quality product. Your role will involve creating electrical and hydraulic schematics to interface internally built equipment with OEM supplied chassis. You will analyze customer technical requirements and coordinate with various departments to determine the most appropriate solutions, presenting these design solutions to customers. Additionally, you will communicate customer requirements and troubleshoot issues as they arise, providing product support and utilizing other technical personnel as needed. Participation in continuous improvement initiatives is also expected.
Responsibilities

Work Environment
The work environment is typical of a manufacturing setting, with time spent both in the office and on the manufacturing floor, approximately 10% of the time, working closely with production and manufacturing engineers to make equipment adjustments. The culture is supportive, with a rotation program for engineers to gain experience across different product lifecycle stages. The team consists of over 50 individuals, including drafters, designers, technologists, and engineers. The dress code is casual, allowing jeans and a polo. The standard working hours are Monday to Friday, from 8 AM to 5 PM.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $42.00/hr.

This position will be working in the field of mechanical engineering on water resource projects including power, water, wastewater and light industrial type projects. Candidate shall possess strong computer skills, strong writing and communication skills and shall work well in a team environment. The candidate will work under the direction of senior level engineers and will work on multidisciplinary projects. The projects will include new development, modernization, and rehabilitation of hydro-mechanical equipment for hydropower and other water resource projects. Your Key Responsibilities
- Conduct interpretations of drawings, codes, and other similar materials.
- Perform design for the mechanical discipline using knowledge of relevant software programs.
- Work with other engineering disciplines and professionals in the coordination of projects under the direction of a senior engineer/ designer.
- Perform field work as directed by a senior engineer/ designer.
- Perform calculations to analyze and design individual mechanical system components using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.

The Mechanical Engineer will have the following responsibilities:
- Under limited supervision, create engineering designs including: HVAC systems master planning & studies; HVAC & Plumbing systems; mechanical systems (co-generation); sustainability/energy efficiency/renewable energy/green buildings; etc., of basic to high complexity to meet client project requirements.
- Review draft designs for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Ensure that firm policies and practices are followed on all designs.
- Perform site reviews and studies, as needed, to ensure designs are aligned with location specifications. Update design requirements as necessary.
- Contribute to the firm's Technical Knowledge Management by developing white papers and technical design documentation of new or special case designs, studies, etc. Submit technical papers and designs for publishing to technical journals.
- Attend conferences, symposia, etc., to improve the visibility of the firm's products and services in collaboration with applicable sales staff.
- Provide technical guidance and training to more junior staff. Mentor more junior staff and develop them for future growth within the discipline and firm. May supervise the work of junior engineers on project work.
- Perform other duties as required.

**Minimum Qualifications:**
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Architectural or Chemical Engineering, or Engineering Technology or related discipline. Certification as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam in states where an EIT is not obtainable (within 18 months of hire or promotion or transfer).
- 5 years of related experience.
- Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
- Project Management Professional (PMP), Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) desired.
- Experience working in a multi-disciplinary environment on large and complex projects.
- Ability to mentor and guide junior engineers.
