Job Description

We are looking for confident German-speaking DevOps colleagues for a new project that provides challenges and development opportunities using the latest technologies. Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines in Groovy language using shared library code (implement new features, expand pipeline functionality, integrate and manage tools)
  • Operate and configure Kubernetes clusters for integration, system, and acceptance test environments, as well as infrastructure clusters (expand worker nodes, customize configurations)
  • Perform Helm-based container image deployments
  • Support integration of external systems (e.g., invoice management, text editor, subsystems) via VPN and make them available in test environments; collaborate with software providers and client contacts (subproject: "External System Integration")
  • Manage provisioned services in the Open Telekom Cloud environment (Elastic Cloud Server, Load Balancer, Cloud Container Engine, etc.)
  • Support Oracle and PostgreSQL database management in collaboration with database administrators

Qualifications
  • Practical experience in implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with the most common tools: Jenkins, Maven/npm, Bitbucket/Git, Docker, Nexus/Harbor, Prometheus/Grafana, EFK stack, SonarQube, Dependency-Check, Clair
  • Confident Linux knowledge and experience in managing Linux-based systems
  • Experience in operating and maintaining Kubernetes clusters, performing Helm-based deployments, and using kubectl to create and modify Kubernetes objects (namespaces, pods, deployments, ingresses, services, etc.)
  • Experience in cloud environments, especially using Open Telekom Cloud and other cloud management consoles
  • Experience in providing 2nd and 3rd level support to architects, developers, and testers, as well as using Jira and other workflow tools
  • Knowledge of encryption, authentication, and authorization processes (e.g., SSL, Samoa, OpenID Connect), as well as related tools (e.g., Keycloak), and security mechanisms in Kubernetes environments (e.g., mutual TLS)

This is a hybrid role, located in Reston, VA, with the expectations of working in the office three days a week.
In this role, you will join the Platform Engineering, and by relied upon to provide high level of technical expertise in building, hardening, and operating the interal SAP Sovereign Cloud environments used as reference by the regional Operations teams. You will help build, maintain, and deliver Sovereign Cloud products to customers aiming at functional completeness, streamlined deployments, and smooth operation. You will be working closely with technical product managers, engineers and architects with a focus on the Gardener infrastructure and BTP product suite. You will engage closely with Operations colleagues, Security, as well as the different engineering teams.
**What you bring**

The purpose of the Expert Project Engineer position is to lead the design, installation and start-up of plant construction or process equipment projects for Feed Supply Chain and Manufacturing operations. This position specifically focuses on packaging equipment. Incumbent is responsible for development of the project scope, working closely with the Feed Engineering Manager and Plant Manager, develop project and process design, capital and expense estimates, contractor selection, equipment specifications and purchases, implementation timeline and coordinate implementation plans for the projects. Provide recommended methods and standard operating practices to optimize processes and meet product specifications.

Work closely with the Directors of Operations to prepare capital plans . Manage the business relationship with packing equipment suppliers.

The target location for this role is Land O'Lakes Corporate Headquarters in Arden Hills, MN, however this position can be remote (virtual) and located anywhere in the USA. International travel will be required occasionally for business meetings.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare process designs, equipment specifications and capital estimates for process upgrades and modifications to existing systems.
  • Track equipment condition and provide long-term projections for repairs/replacements based on equipment age and number of cycles.
  • Work closely with the Feed Engineering Manager and Plant Managers on the capital approval and implementation steps.
  • Validate expected improvements are obtained from capital investments.
  • Prepare equipment standards for processing equipment.
  • Provide project management working with contractors, equipment vendors and plant personnel to insure on budget and on schedule project implementations.
  • Conduct process evaluations in the forms of process system audits and in-plant testing.
  • Evaluate process variables and provide recommendations for processing and energy efficiency improvements.Implementation of process improvements and validations of improvements.
  • Provide equipment recommendations and methods to optimize processing

Required Education and Skills:

  • B.S. degree with concentration in Mechanical, Agricultural, Food, Feed Process Engineering or related degree and 10+ years related work experience.
  • Technical experience in packaging equipment and robotics is highly preferred
  • Technical processing expertise for Feed Operations highly preferred
  • Solid working knowledge of mechanical or agricultural engineering and processing plants and equipment,
  • Individual is highly organized, proficient, and knowledgeable in most current grain or food processing systems

Competencies-Skills (Required):

  • Highly effective communications is required and ability to modification communications approach to reach operators, supervisors, and Plant Managers.Strong interpersonal skills are required to sell and implement improvement projects.
  • Ability to collaborate closely with operators on the plant and processing floor to understand equipment variables and equipment operations.
  • Ability to understand root cause of problems and develop solutions is critical to success.Fact based reasoning and recommendations are essential to optimizing process variables and systems. Visualize process and building revisions and improvements.

  • This position will involve 50% to 75% travel and will involve exposure to all shifts to allow training and operations improvements to be refined and fully implemented. POSITION SUMMARY:
This position will provide process engineering technical expertise to Technical & Production. In this role, the individual will teach, coach, assess, refine, implement, and support continuous improvement systems to enhance business objectives and operational performance. This may include developing processes and procedures for manufacturing and packaging, performing validation evaluations, and writing/executing validation protocols.

+ Identify, organize, and conduct relevant process capability testing
+ Develop or refine the processing equipment standards and routines for existing equipment. Examples include user requirement specifications, principles of operation, basic condition, operational centerlines, cleaning, inspection, lubrication, maintenance, procedures for startup, shutdown, changeover etc. Teach, coach and assess to these standards and routines across our manufacturing network.
+ Ideate, assess and implement process-related continuous improvement opportunities that advance safety, quality, efficiency, reliability, hygiene, yield, cost savings, etc. in our factories.
+ Apply deep technical expertise to projects and challenges. Demonstrate highly developed problem-solving skills and apply sound methodology (for example: Go-See-Think-Do, Fishbone, 5 Whys, etc.) to deliver optimal solutions.
+ Partner with Engineering and R&D on the development, installation and start-up with new processes
+ Conduct pilot scale experiments, industrial scale trial runs, and first saleable production runs with new equipment, and/or processes.
+ Develop or refine then document processing equipment standards and routines for both new processes.
+ Collaborate with Corporate Engineering and R&D to establish and formalize project priorities, technical requirements, timelines and budgets.
