The PREP program requires staff from a wide range of backgrounds to work on scientific research in many areas. Employees in this position will perform technical work that underpins the scientific research of the collaboration.
Primary responsibilities will be microwave and RF measurements. Such work will be carried out in close collaboration with partners at NIST as well as industry partners, government laboratories and colleagues at other universities. The position will require publishing findings in peer reviewed journals, presenting the work at project meetings and scientific conferences, mentoring graduate and undergraduate students, and contributing to reports for external sponsors. The candidate must be proficient in at least one type of programming language for scientific computing (e.g., MATLAB, python, C++). Candidate must be able to learn measurement and interpretation of microwave scattering parameters.

We embrace the novice musician as well as the serious student aspiring toward a career in music.
Ideal candidates should be experienced in teaching students of all ages and levels (beginner to advanced) and must have experience teaching as part of The Park School's A SM program . Candidates should be comfortable teaching private cello lessons . Additional opportunities to develop classes and workshops according to candidate experience and interest may be available.
We are actively seeking instructors for our Park School location, located at 2425 Old Court Rd, Baltimore, MD 21208 . Teachers set their own teaching schedules (subject to space availability), but after - school hours will be required to meet student needs. The potential exists for this position to grow into a full-time appointment d epending on candidate qualifications and departmental need .
Duties:
+ Teach private cello lessons to students aged 4 years and older at all skill levels ranging from beginner to advanced levels during the fall and spring semesters (32 weeks) .

Facility and Equipment: Johns Hopkins Medicine upholds a tripartite mission of patient care, research, and education. Position Description:
The Intelligent Systems Division at NIST is investigating the performance of 3D vision systems for various manufacturing and automation applications. The research will focus on conducting experiments and analyzing data to understand these systems' performance. This will support the development of performance metrics for these systems for various industrial applications.
Duties:
The duties will be tailored to fit the applicant's qualifications, and the applicant will be trained on the use of certain systems needed for the following possible duties:
? Conduct experiments to realize several existing and novel test methods for 3D vision systems.
? Research the effects of various physical properties of an object and sensor settings on the test metrics.
? Program collaborative robot arms for conducting various automation tasks.

The successful candidate will teach in the Young People's String Program (YPSP), Tuned-In Program, and String Department at the Peabody Preparatory.
The successful candidate is required to have a bachelor's degree, a master's degree or equivalent experience is strongly preferred. They must love and have experience teaching young children, as well as have completed violin/viola pedagogy classes/workshops and developed a particular interest in string pedagogy. Experience teaching Suzuki repertoire, and comfort in teaching repertoire outside of and beyond Suzuki books, is preferred. Awareness of the broad mission of the Preparatory, and of the Tuned-In program is required.
Duties :
Teach cello in the Young People's String Program for beginners through Suzuki Book 7 and students through advanced levels in the String Department. Specific duties include teaching one weekday afternoon/evening at one of the Peabody Preparatory' s branches and on Saturdays at the main campus in downtown Baltimore, attending school and department faculty meetings, and aiding in the evolution of a creative department. Based on enrollment and departmental needs, there may be the possibility of teaching string class(es) for the Tuned-In program's Misbin Ensemble and the Young People's String Program. Training and mentoring on the curriculum of the Young People's String Program and Tuned-In program will be tailored to the candidate's experience.

PREP Research Associate

The position is for a graduate student level researcher or recent PhD graduate experienced in and interested in applied data science to work jointly with mathematicians and experimentalists at NIST to study forensic chemometrics and uncertainty quantification in identification and classification in mass spectrometry. A goal of this work is to develop improved classification and identification algorithms in analytical chemistry and incorporate uncertainty quantification into models to provide useful information. The position will be highly interdisciplinary requiring regular communication between mathematicians working on modelling these devices and with experimentalists taking measurements and producing data.
The work will entail:
Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Implementing optimized calculations to study AI classification algorithms.
- Assessing uncertainty in classification of experimental data.
- Computationally testing mathematical models relating uncertainty quantification.
- Significant software development (most likely python)

The Department of Pathology of the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in the Division of Neoplastic Hematopathology.
The successful candidate will hold an academic appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor in the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and a medical staff appointment in The Johns Hopkins Hospital and the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.
The successful applicant will develop a program of independent scholarship in clinical, translational, or basic science. The focus should be on the areas of neoplastic hematopathology and clinical lab hematology, including coagulation or flow cytometry. Preference will be given to those with a demonstrated record of scholarly accomplishment. Independent funding is encouraged but not mandatory. Diagnostic Hematopathology activities will comprise a significant portion of the duties.
Applicants must have an MD degree or MD/PhD degrees and be Board-certified/eligible, in Anatomic and/or Clinical Pathology, and preferably Board-certified/eligible in Hematopathology. The successful candidate must be eligible for a State of Maryland medical license.
Salary: 213,500 - $250,000

PREP Research Associate
This position is part of the National Institute of Standards (NIST) Professional Research Experience (PREP) program. NIST recognizes that its research staff may wish to collaborate with researchers at academic institutions on specific projects of mutual interest, thus requires that such institutions must be the recipient of a PREP award. The PREP program requires staff from a wide range of backgrounds to work on scientific research in many areas. Employees in this position will perform technical work that underpins the scientific research of the collaboration.

Cost Estimation for Enhanced Building Performance
The work will entail:
The researcher will play a critical role in advancing the NIST mission to improve the quality of life through measurement science for enhanced resilience to natural disasters. The scope of work includes (1) advancing the implementation of the NIST framework for economic evaluation of recovery-based seismic design (NIST SP 1277 ( ) for existing buildings; (2) developing order-of-magnitude estimates to support implementation of the NIST Hazard Mitigation Technology (HMM ( ) for reducing building vulnerability to damage from Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) fires; and (3) developing repair cost estimation models the to improve building component damage consequences within NIST's Nonstructural Element Database (NED).
Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
§ Extend benefit-cost analysis of recovery-based design for new buildings to existing buildings through the development of case studies for retrofitting existing buildings for functional recovery
§ Develop cost estimates for the replacement or retrofit of building components to improve residential building performance from WUI fires
§ Develop repair cost estimate models and/or workflows that facilitate the quantification of repair costs for various non-structural building components.
§ Support NIST-led economic evaluation of benefits and costs of design archetypes or case studies
§ Writing and presenting results for academic, government, industry, and general audiences
§ Industry experience in construction cost estimation is required.
§ Proficiency in technical writing and presentations to research and practitioner audiences.
§ Experience or interest in working in a collaborative and interdisciplinary team.
Salary: $160 per hour

Perception Performance of Robotic Systems
Position Description:
The Intelligent Systems Division at NIST is investigating the performance of 3D vision systems for various manufacturing and automation applications. The research will focus on conducting experiments and analyzing data to understand these systems' performance. This will support the development of performance metrics for these systems for various industrial applications.
Duties:
The duties will be tailored to fit the applicant's qualifications, and the applicant will be trained on the use of certain systems needed for the following possible duties:
? Conduct experiments to realize several existing and novel test methods for 3D vision systems.
? Research the effects of various physical properties of an object and sensor settings on the test metrics.
? Program collaborative robot arms for conducting various automation tasks.
? Use metrology systems (e.g., laser trackers, CMMs, etc.) for establishing reference measurements.
? Use analysis software (e.g., Python, MATLAB, Spatial Analyzer, Polyworks, Excel, etc.) to interpret results and produce visualizations.
? Write reports and contribute to peer-reviewed publications.
? Work with commercial bin-picking systems.
? Assist in the development of demonstrations for trade shows and conferences.

? Work schedule: On-campus (Gaithersburg, MD), Full-time (40hrs/week)
Not all the qualifications below are required.
? Education: Engineering majors with bachelor's/master's degree, or in final or penultimate years of bachelor's/master's degree.

? Experience using MATLAB and Python.
? Programming experience in one or more of the following computer languages: C++, Java
? Experience using 3D printers.
? Basic understanding of robot control theory (DH parameters, kinematics, etc.)
? Basic understanding of 3D sensors such as LiDAR or RGBD cameras
? Basic understanding of the Unix/Linux operating systems
? Working knowledge of 3D point cloud data processing techniques using Point Cloud Library (PCL - ), CloudCompare, or other similar tools
