Tennessee Donor Services (TDS) is looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic team member to join us to save lives! Our mission at TDS is to save lives through organ donation and we want professionals on our team that will embrace this important work! We are currently seeking a Family Care Manager. This role will be responsible for the day-to-day management and coordination of the OPO's organ and tissue authorization activities. The Family Care Manager oversees the implementation of donor family services policies and procedures, provides supervision and support to all staff supervised, assumes on call duties to guide staff through the various aspects of authorization process, ensures that quality practices are employed, and that policies, procedures and local protocols are adhered to. This role leads quality authorization training based on identified opportunities to increase authorization rates and is responsible for overall performance of family care staff and authorization outcomes. Extensive on-call duties are required. This is an onsite position in Knoxville, TN.

Key responsibilities this position will perform include:
- Provides on-call administrative services to support family conversations completed by frontline staff. Ability to provide on-site response for family conversations when necessary.
- Supervises the day-to-day activities of family care staff. Ensures adherence to standard operating policies and procedures. Ensures the timely provision of all potential donor evaluations, standard approach, and obtains authorization. Ensures that the call schedule is adequately covered at all times.
- Collaborates with Clinical and Hospital Services Manager and staff on activities and meetings as requested.
- Participates in all leadership training opportunities and will implement all leadership principles into management position. Leadership principles include recruitments, peer interviews, hiring, on boarding, monthly rounding, coaching, and mentoring all staff. Will monitor family care staff's progress, encouraging growth and setting professional goals that are in line with the organizations strategic plan.
- Provide employee coaching and counseling as needed. Responsible for ensuring all family care staff are trained and efficient in their primary job responsibilities. Will participate in all clinical department staff meetings and case reviews.
- Participates in external and internal committees to represent organ operations and the entire organization.
- Participates with Medical Directors and Medical Advisory Committee related to policy/practice changes and review of donation opportunities as required by regulatory bodies.

The ideal candidate will have:
- BA degree in related field required. Master's preferred
- 3+ years of OPO experience in authorization, leadership experience preferred but not required
- CTPS preferred but not required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
- Ability to pass MVR underwriting requirements
- Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office applications to include Word, PowerPoint and Excel is required.
- Up to 176 hours of PTO your first year

Summary of Functions:
The Family Care Specialist is Responsible for representing OneLegacy to the potential donor’s Authorizing Party and family. Works in collaboration with the hospital treatment team to develop a timely and sensitive approach plan. The Family Care Specialist approaches the Authorizing Party and family for organ, eye, and tissue authorization, providing support and information while maintaining a position of dual advocacy to donor family and hospital staff. Acts as a liaison between hospital staff and OneLegacy.

Family Care and Authorization:
- Work in partnership with the hospital staff and OneLegacy to ensure that the Authorizing Party is identified per UAGA guidelines.
- Collaborate with the hospital care team and OneLegacy staff through frequent huddles to ensure the Authorizing Party is presented the opportunity for donation in the most appropriate manner.
- Discuss the elements of authorization with Authorizing Party and/or family members of potential donors.
- Obtain authorization for donation per UAGA and verify the medical-legal documentation necessary for organ recovery is completed according to OneLegacy policies and procedures.
- Work with hospital and OneLegacy staff to obtain administrative authorization for donation when appropriate.
- Support the donor family through the donation process including any internal or external resources.
- Proficiently and accurately enter data into Digital Donor.
- Complete Donor Medical and Social History Questionnaire (DMSHQ) and obtain any follow-up information required.
- Respond promptly and appropriately to potential donor referrals to assess family dynamics, donor suitability and to enhance the referral and authorization process.
- Review donor suitability with Referral Management team, inform hospital staff of outcome and create plan to follow.
- Collaborate with the hospital staff to determine and locate the Authorizing Party.
- Acts as a liaison between hospital staff and patient’s family.
- Proficiently and accurately enter data into Digital Donor.
- Performs potential donor evaluation on-sites when requested by Clinical Resource Specialists.
- Provide education to hospital staff on the benefits of organ and tissue donation and services provided by OneLegacy to grieving families.
- Participate in public education forums as requested.
- Provide educational materials (e.g. placards, phone stickers, newsletters) to appropriate hospital units.
- Provide education to hospital staff about authorization and family care process.
Job Qualifications and Requirements:
Education: Four (4) year Bachelor’s degree or one (1) year applicable OPO (organ procurement organization) experience. Documented education in grief counseling required
Experience: Customer service; bilingual preferred.
Certification/License:OneLegacy requires employees to maintain a current California driver’s license and current vehicle insurance based on California minimum insurance coverage standards.
Salary Range: $59,150 - $70,525
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, OneLegacy considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Maintains communication with hospital staff and attending physician regarding the potential donor family's understanding of the prognosis and acts as a family advocate to the health care team as necessary.

The Direct Care Staff should be committed to Sanctuary practice utilizing tools that reinforce our shared language to create a trauma-responsive culture.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Maintain supervision of clients at all times.
- Daily documentation per program procedures.
- Lead the clients in establishing ways of living together and managing their daily productive lives per individual service plan.
- Develop and lead group meetings daily and/or as needed.
- Respond appropriately to crisis situations using Emergency Safety Interventions including the use of de-escalating techniques and performing physical control positions when necessary.
- Transport clients as required.
- Utilize personal safety plan for managing emotions and interactions with staff and clients.
- Provide appropriate behavior management techniques according to agency guidelines.
- Help build and maintain a positive environment for clients.
- At least 25 years of age
- High School/GED with five years experience of direct service experience with children and families, two years licensed childcare
- Associates /Bachelor's degree or higher in a behavioral or social science field with three years experience of direct service experience with children and families, two years licensed childcare
- Have the physical ability, energy, flexibility, and maturity to perform the duties and responsibilities of the job to include performance of Emergency Safety Interventions including physical control positions.
- Establish positive relationships with clients and others
- Possess strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to follow structured routines
- Basic computer skills (minimum Word and E-Mail)
