We are seeking a skilled CMM Operator to join our team in Duluth, MN. This is a 2nd shift position on a 6 month long contract. Key Responsibilities:- Conduct dimensional inspection of complex casted parts, hardware, and assemblies using precision inspection equipment such as a FARO ARM.
- Support First Article Inspection (FAI) on critical components.

- Interpret complex Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) requirements and validate commodity-specific assemblies.
- Collaborate with internal quality team and address issues related to reproducibility.
- Verify non-conformances (NCs) using hand tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and thread gauges.
- Adhere to SQA/Client policies.
- 10+ years of hands-on inspection experience with FARO arm operation, precision machine and or mechanical parts.
- Working experience of operating a FARO ARM (I.E. Polyworks, etc.)
- Knowledge and hands-on experience working with various inspection tools (i.e. calipers, micrometers, height gauges, thread gauges, etc.)
- Experience with GD&T
- Have experience in the operation and/or programming of photogrammetry inspection equipment, Portable Coordinate Measuring devices (Arms, trackers, sonar/radar, etc.)
- Be able to interpret standard manufacturing drawings based on industry and commodity standards
- Ability to adapt to new technology and software.
- Excellent visual acuity to detect defects in complex products.
- A degree in a technical discipline and extensive technical training and certification.

- Generate documents to be used by operators to verify/assist improvements (example total quality check sheet).
- Develop continuous improvement efforts by guiding cross-functional problem-solving teams and by implementing, training and auditing statistical process control (SPC).
- Investigate assignments such as tooling, fixtures, production operations, repair, receiving operations, parts of units in various stages of assembly to insure requirements, and a make nondestructive test.
- Considerable judgment to setup sequence of nondestructive test limitations, to plan, perform unusual and difficult work where only general operation methods are available.
- Moderate physical effort working continuously with light weight, or frequently with average weight materials while repairing, gauging, inspecting, auditing parts assemblies and tooling.
- Concentrated mental, visual attention required where work is to make dimensional checks, surface plate, optical comparator setups and visual attention when inspecting complex work with very close limits of high accuracy and quality.
- Analytical ability relative to Statistical Process Control (SPC).
- Normal safety precautions necessary to prevent injury to others, accidents should they occur would be lost time in nature.
- Good working conditions with exposure to shop noises, fumes, dirt but not to the extent of being objectionable.
- Exposure to lost time accidents where injuries would be severe, such as hand, foot, ear, eye injury when in the vicinity of material handling operations.
- Use shop mathematics. Work from prints, tables, charts, codes, regulations and specifications. Use a variety of precision measuring devices.
Over 3 - 4 years of industry (Manufacturing) experience.
Preferred Education:
- Knowledge of shop practices, machine operation, assembly methods and inspection methods and procedures.
- Equivalent to training received in a formal registered apprenticeship program.

As part of a hardworking team of inspectors and engineers a Quality Inspector III is responsible for effective verification of manufactured or supplied product or processes against requirements. The Quality Inspector III is highly skilled at programming and operating a CMM (Coordinate Measurement Machine), as well as effectively utilizing all standard measurement devices in receiving inspection. The QI applies methods and follows documentation requirements for product or process verification from established baselines including customer quality and Blue Origins quality standards. The position has responsibility for providing inputs for certification data packages, and contract quality data. The QI contributes to the analysis of process and product defect data, including root-cause, in support of the development of corrective and preventive action, and continual improvement planning. Other activities include support roles during internal and customer quality system and other quality audits. Education beyond the secondary school level, background, or experience in a technical discipline, is required to successfully execute against the roles and responsibilities of this position. Professional training and development in progressive quality disciplines and systems is expected.

- In depth Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) knowledge
- Experience with various types of inspection equipment such as digital measurement devices, optical comparitors, and hand gages
- Experience with MIL, SAE, and other industry specifications/standards

**What You Will Do**
Pratt & Whitney is seeking a highly motivated individual to lead site metrology method development for repeatable, precise and reliable inspection of turbine engine components. This role is on site at the Ceramic Matrix Composites (CMC) Center of Excellence. CMCs are an enabling material that increases the temperature capability of jet engine components. Through successful development and application of these materials, P&W will deliver engines that are more fuel efficient, lighter weight and more durable for commercial and military applications.
+ Partner with engineers to establish effective Metrology methods for experiments and new product introduction projects including inspection plans, system capabilities and risks
+ Structure, conduct and analyze gage capability studies
+ Analyze metrology results and disposition components
+ Report and summarize results from the metrology analysis and support internal customer understanding as required
