Position Summary:
The Design Assistant supports the creation and development of compelling design and trend concepts aligned with the brand vision and responsive to evolving market demands. This role collaborates closely with the Design and Product Development teams to ensure timely execution of seasonal collections, from concept development to sample review and data management.

Qualifications for the Position
- A four-year college degree in Fashion Design or a closely related subject is preferred.
- 1 - 2 years of relevant experience in a Fashion Design position is required. This experience is preferably with a ladies' branded apparel company.
- The taste level and fashion sense to understand the Lilly Pulitzer customer and to design fashion merchandise which appeals to the Lilly customer.

The Opportunity
The role of Assistant Apparel Designer is to support the end-to-end design process, contributing to the development of
seasonal collections from initial concept through to final product. Working closely with designers and product
development teams, the role helps translate trend insights and brand direction into commercially viable, brand-aligned
apparel across categories. With a strong focus on detail, organization, and creative execution, the Assistant Designer
ensures the design process runs smoothly and supports the delivery of compelling product stories each season.
Essential Functions
- Assist in the design and development of seasonal apparel collections, ensuring alignment with brand vision and target customer.
- Conduct trend, fabric, and market research to support concept development.
- Create technical sketches and assist in building CADs, line sheets, and presentation boards.
- Support fabric and trim sourcing, maintaining swatch libraries and tracking requests.
- Organize and manage design files, tech packs, and submit and sample tracking documents.
- Attend and contribute to fittings, taking detailed notes and updating specs as needed.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with merchandising, design, production, and marketing teams to ensure timely execution of seasonal timelines.
- Maintain awareness of emerging trends, competitors, and consumer cohorts.
- 2 years experience in a fashion design role.
- A genuine passion for streetwear and culture.
- Highly creative and innovative design skills.
- Strong understanding of garment construction, fabrics, and fashion trends.
- Experience with Adobe Suite; Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign. Microsoft Office (Excel). PLM systems.
- Strong illustration and CAD drawing skills.
- Understanding the history and direction of market trends.
- Good eye for colour, texture, and patterns.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Collaborative, proactive, and passionate about design and innovation.
