Job Description
Under the supervision of the Caltrans Maintenance Manager I - Region Support, the Caltrans Maintenance Supervisor will also receive functional guidance from the Maintenance Equipment Training Academy training staff and will coordinate the commercial driver program for field maintenance staff. Training responsibilities include the proper use, operation, servicing, minor repairs and adjustments of automotive and maintenance equipment used in Caltrans maintenance operations in accordance with District, Department, State and Federal law, policies, rules and guidelines, including the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). The incumbent develops training courses and materials, researches course content and evaluates the performance of students, and will act as Lead Instructor during training sessions at various locations. The incumbent may also assist the Region Support Manager with planning, organizing work, and completing reports. It is highly desirable that the incumbent will have a valid, unrestricted Class A commercial driver's license with Tank endorsement. The incumbent should have and must be able to maintain an excellent driving and safety record. Travel is required throughout the district in order to provide training and qualifying at various maintenance facilities. Delivers classroom presentations to Caltrans employees on the responsibilities of safe and proper inspection, operation, servicing, and minor repairs to motorized equipment used in highway maintenance and construction; and other training as required by departmental policy and legal mandate. Prepares employees to obtain a commercial driver's license by instructing, training, and demonstrating during a multi-week course that focuses on the California DMV (Department of Motor Vehicle) Pre-Trip and skills portions of the DMV commercial examination. As a registered training provider, facilitates the successful completion of the Entry Level Driver Training (ELDT) of the commercial driver's license applicants, and ensures students receive a minimum of 15 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction. Drives equipment to the student's maintenance station to provide demonstrated and hands-on training of maintenance equipment including automatic and manual transmission, mower, backhoe, sweeper, grader, towable and loadable trailers, loader, packer, and dozer. The incumbent is required to obtain and maintain certification for trainer and qualifier for the specified or appropriate equipment. The majority (approximately 80%) of the training provided will be in person at our maintenance facilities throughout the district and will require travel, including some overnight travel, for multiple days at a time.
Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Caltrans Maintenance Supervisor Exam. For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions. Position Summary:
The Field Technician will travel to store locations to perform maintenance and service repairs on various types of commercial food service equipment. Candidate will work with dispatchers and team supervisors to manage workload to complete calls in timely manner.

Essential Functions
• Performs a variety of maintenance and repair work on water wells, water mains, valves, hydrants, boosters and other service lines.

Licenses & Certifications
- Employees in this class are assigned duties which require the operation of motor vehicles. Employees must possess and maintain a Class C motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland. During the probationary period, the employee may be required to obtain and maintain a Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), valid in the State of Maryland depending on the type of equipment operated.
- Employees in this class may be required to satisfy the employing administration’s training and certification program requirements to obtain and maintain permanent status in this classification.
- Maryland Aviation Administration employees assigned to the BWI Airport must obtain an MAA Airfield Operators Permit in accordance with the Code of Maryland Regulations 11.03.01.04, Control of Vehicular Traffic on the Air Operations Area, prior to permanent appointment.

The Parks Worker III - Sports Fields Maintenance is responsible for a variety of tasks to ensure the upkeep, safety, and playability of athletic areas and park amenities. This role specializes in maintaining sports fields and courts while also supporting general park maintenance.

Assigns tasks and oversees the work of workers. Directs, trains, and assists in performing maintenance tasks, ensuring proper work practices. Participates in performance evaluations.
Assists in performing and leading the work of some or all of the following essential functions depending on assigned area.
Assists with landscaping area maintenance, including but not limited to tree care, planting, pruning, watering, chipping, turf clean-up and repair, and park facilities maintenance and trail maintenance.
Assists with seasonal and daily preparation of sports facilities for public use.
Assists with the seasonal maintenance and sanitation of parks facilities including the cleaning of public restrooms, trash removal, light plumbing and carpentry, minor repairs to park features, and minor equipment maintenance.
