Job description
The Youth Cinema Project (YCP) is a project-based learning program that teaches film to youth in public schools during regular school and/or after school/summer school. YCP Mentors are professional filmmakers that teach 90-minute film classes, twice a week to students in 5th - 12th grades. In collaboration with a co-mentor, YCP Mentors implement our rigorous filmmaking curriculum and guide students through the filmmaking process to produce high-quality short film content over the course of the school year (August - June). YCP Mentors can expect to work 7-14 hours a week.
Minimum Requirements:
- Candidates MUST have a minimum of 3 years working in the film industry as a producer, director or in any below-the-line position.
- Candidates MUST have expertise in at least one specific area of filmmaking.
- Candidates MUST have editing experience - not to a professional editors level but enough to edit simple short content.
- Candidates MUST be comfortable using Google Suite
- Travel (up to 50 miles) may be required. Mileage is reimbursed.
- Candidates MUST have a Bachelors in film.
- Candidates MUST be comfortable in a school environment teaching children.
- Collaborate with other mentors and staff to create a positive and inclusive environment
- Help youth develop life skills such as communication, problem-solving, and decision-making

- Trainee Pay: During the bootcamp, all trainees receive an hourly wage of $17.28.
- Mentor Pay: Upon successful completion of the bootcamp and subsequent promotion to the role of "Mentor," the hourly pay increases to $1.80.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- To work closely with the Visual & Media Arts Pastor in assuming primary responsibility for the coordination and operation of all video equipment in the live service venues of Faith Church, working closely with the other members of the Live Production team and venue pastors.
- Maintain working knowledge of stage production, set design and following department programs for optimal production effect.
- Serve as live video director understanding the expectations of the Lead Pastor & Campus Pastor as they relate to multi-campus simulcast and live video production techniques.
- Coordinate and/or lead set-up and teardown for events on and off campus, as scheduled by the Campus Pastor.
- Coordinate the upgrades, installation, maintenance, organization, and repair of all Faith Church video equipment.
- Recruit, train, and empower volunteers to operate the production equipment in all campus venues. Training programs should include style, team building, spiritual development, technical levels for advancement, and vision casting.
- Understand basic concepts including, but not limited to, electrical safety, video switchers, cabling, circuits, audio, lighting, and video equipment.
- Attend rehearsals and meetings, as required. Schedule early meetings with set designers and/or other departments for collaboration and planning of services and events.
- Understand and advocate for the Live Production team, including cross-training within the department and communicating the "why" behind the production team in the local church.
- Responsible for hosting, setting up, and performing video shoots on-site and off-site in coordination with the Film & TV Department.

Work Environment

Physical Demands
Office time is mostly a sedentary role (stationary at desk and working on a computer); during video shoots, services and events, must have high energy for multiple hour segments.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
The weekly schedule will include 40-45 hours per week and will be the same every week. In addition to your regular weekly hours you will be asked to participate in events that will include evening or weekend hours, as there are continual seasons where it will be necessary to exceed these minimum hours (i.e., Christmas, Easter, Strategic Planning, are just some examples and do not encompass all of the extended hours opportunities). These hours can/will fluctuate.

General Responsibilities
Under the general direction of the Executive Producer of Dragon Media, the Video Production Engineer leads the design, installation, maintenance, and evaluation of all video and podcast production facilities, including studios and master control. This role ensures the seamless operation and technical integrity of the department's 24/7 multimedia production infrastructure. The Engineer also guides future technology integration and upgrades, maintains system performance, and ensures compliance with cybersecurity and institutional standards.
Work Performed
- Design, install, upgrade, and maintain all systems and equipment in a fully networked video and audio production, post-production, and cablecast environment.
- Troubleshoot and repair technical issues in video and podcast production systems to ensure optimal performance of signals and equipment, including cameras, switchers, servers, character generators, and related technology.
- Maintain, upgrade, and ensure compatibility of server-based and software-based systems for studio production, post-production, and on-air broadcasting.
- Provide hands-on engineering support for studio, livestreaming, and remote field productions.
- Serve as the primary liaison with HCC's Office of Facilities and Office of Information Technology to coordinate infrastructure issues, equipment integration, and system security.
- Recommend and manage budgets for equipment replacement and maintenance, including items funded through HCC and the Howard County PEG (Public, Education, and Government) grant.
- Develop preventative maintenance procedures and ensure the electronic and operational integrity of all facility equipment.
- Deliver training for staff and student workers or coordinate vendor-led sessions on equipment operation.
- Prepare and evaluate bid specifications for equipment purchases; assess vendor proposals and recommend contract awards.
- Operate and/or direct the use of equipment during digital recording and livestreamed productions across multiple formats and platforms.
- Maintain and update Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) documentation for all production systems.
- Collaborate with the Digital Content and Traffic Manager to manage two PEG access channels.
- Draft, update, and organize technical documentation, including system design diagrams and as-built engineering drawings.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support department goals.
