**About the Role**
bpx is a top 20 producer of oil and gas in the US onshore and a subsidiary of BP p.l.c. bpx is seeking a finance analyst to provide support to its Technology team. The role would report through the Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team and partner directly with the Head of Technology and the Technology Leadership Team. The bpx FP&A team helps drive financial clarity and guidance for key decision makers across the organization. The FP&A team's responsibilities include overseeing the financial reporting and forecasting for all corporate overhead functions with the goals of providing accurate financials, improving operational efficiency and maximizing value while maintaining a strong control environment (in partnership with Accounting Reporting and Control).
The Finance Analyst is a liaison between Technology and Finance and provides critical financial analysis and strategic support for our technology operating and capital costs. The successful candidate will serve as a key business partner to stakeholders across Technology and will be responsible for delivering clear, insightful financial analysis and recommendations to senior leadership. In addition to day-to-day requirements related to accruals and forecasting, the Finance Analyst will facilitate processes to ensure technology investment is delivering a high return on investment (ROI). This includes validation of business cases and setting / enforcing Investment Governance best practices. Support strategies to help drive increased profitability, process efficiency, reduced costs, and overall business improvement. Partner with Commercial leadership to deliver financial and strategic results through the utilization of Financial Planning and Analysis of best practices. Support corporate Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) processes, initiatives and reporting within Operations.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**
+ Facilitate the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) process and tools.
+ Develop and deploy Finance tools, and processing across the organization.
+ Train business stakeholders on the AOP process.
+ Support monthly/quarterly business review process.
+ Financial modeling and ad hoc analytics.
+ Develop and identify insights and opportunities.
+ Analytical support for strategic investment decisions.
+ Generate corporate and business segment forecasts based on defined cadences.
+ Creation of executive management reporting dashboards and distilling key insights.
+ Develop, and deploy tools and processes across the organization as business defines.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
**Education**
+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
+ MBA degree preferred.
**Experience**
+ 2+ years Financial or business-related analysis experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
**Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations**
+ CPA preferred.
**Professional Skills**
+ Strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal skills.
+ Broad knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
+ Furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
+ Ability to deal with problems involving several discrete variables in standardized situations.
+ Must be able to work on multiple projects concurrently and capable of working with little direct supervision.

About the Role
We are seeking a Finance Analyst to join our team in Fremont, CA. This hybrid role offers an opportunity to partner with the Finance Manager and Financial Analysts to support operational, reporting, and reconciliation tasks that drive accuracy and efficiency across the business.
This is a temporary assignment with the potential for extension or conversion to a full-time position.
Key Responsibilities
Purchase Order & Invoice Coordination:
+ Manage PO approvals in collaboration with the Finance Manager.
+ Track POs and invoices for accuracy and timely processing.
Excel-Based Reporting:
+ Maintain financial trackers and Smartsheets.
+ Compile savings reports and create pivoted financial data views for stakeholders.
Financial Reconciliation:
+ Perform reconciliations across accounts and cost centers.
+ Validate and clean up invoice data (non-stock related).
Expense Management:
+ Act as first-line approver for expense reports.
+ Ensure accurate coding and billing allocation of expenses.
Ad Hoc Analysis & Projects:
+ Support analysts with custom reporting, special projects, and multi-tasking requests.
+ Contribute to data analysis that informs business decisions.
Process Knowledge & Collaboration:
+ Apply a broad understanding of financial principles and workflows.
+ Partner across finance, operations, and procurement to improve processes.
Requirements
Qualifications
Experience: Minimum 3 years in finance, accounting, or a related field.
Education: Bachelor's degree required.
Skills:
+ Strong financial acumen in analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
+ Intermediate to advanced Excel proficiency (formulas, pivot tables, report building).
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
+ Ability to collaborate across functions and present financial findings confidently.
