The Automation and Financial Management Analyst plays a pivotal role in supporting the planning, execution, and oversight of technical and financial operations, with a focus on Business Intelligence (BI), Financial Automation, and Data Visualization. This position emphasizes technical expertise, serving as an Automation Subject Matter Expert (SME) and Database Administrator (DBA) for Marine Corps data sources, policy, and BI product development. Responsibilities include implementing and maintaining complex databases, controlling data access and allocation, and maintaining security controls. The analyst will interface with internal and external stakeholders, contributing significantly to department goals and planning efforts, and coordinate projects within a Major Subordinate Command Marine Corps staff. Additionally, the role involves designing BI dashboards and reports for logistics and fiscal Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and data analytics tools, with financial management as a secondary focus. This position is located in Aiea, HI.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
- Provide technical system expertise, identifying and reporting system problems and process improvement requirements.
- Troubleshoot data issues by tracing data flow and identifying root causes.
- Maintain SQL queries for ad-hoc reports and enhance stored procedures for production databases.
- Monitor and resolve a large number of financial KPIs.
- Test customized in-house developed web-based analytical software.
- Improve project plans/processes to maximize efficiency.
- Analyze current operational procedures, identify problems, and learn specific input and output requirements.

- Create schema objects and public objects using Data Visualization tools like Power BI.
- Develop and maintain document services reports and custom reports, creating dashboards and scorecards.
- Provide FM system expertise and technical guidance on financial matters as needed.
- Support Fiscal Year (FY) closeout activities, including funds execution, reconciliation, validation, and certification.
- Develop and deliver briefings relative to FM operations.
- Support the development and maintenance of scalable data stores for business analysis leading to key leader decision-making.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
- Bachelor's Degree or 12 years of experience if no degree
- 8 years of full-time experience providing technical expertise with a focus on automating DOD systems and USMC/Navy ground or aviation Financial Management related services.
- Experience utilizing Data Visualization Tools: Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik.
- Experience with some of the following: DAX, SQL, Python, R, Java, iQuery, Advana, Databricks, AI/ML technologies.
Compensation range for this role in the U.S. is $110,000 - $150,000. The Sr. Financial Management Analyst provides advice, support and value-added financial analyses to certain business units regarding financial matters. Responsibilities include collaborating with the department head and their team in planning, developing and monitoring the operating and capital budgets. - Reviews and analyzes monthly financial performance, investigates and consults with managers regarding any unusual or unfavorable variances, and recommends corrective action when necessary.
- Forecasts operating and capital costs and consults with leaders and managers on the results of analyses. Meets with the department management to discuss and review financial results on a regular basis.
- Advises and assists managers with developing their operating and capital budgets as well as current year forecasts.
