Vice President of Finance and Infrastructure

Boothbay, ME

We are working with our client Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in seeking a Vice President of Finance and Infrastructure , to be based in Boothbay, Maine.

Requirements of the Vice President of Finance and Infrastructure:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree or CPA strongly preferred.
• Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive experience in finance and facilities management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
• Proven track record managing large-scale capital construction projects, ideally in a public or non-profit environment.
• Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, investment, and asset management; knowledge of risk management, security protocols, and IT systems.
• Demonstrated ability to lead the leaders of functional departments, drive strategic initiatives, and communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders.
• Passion for conservation, sustainability, and the role of botanical gardens in inspiring connections with nature.
• Commitment to working across the organization to support the integration of Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility principles into the Gardens’ internal operations and its relationships with visitors and guests.
• Ability to commute to Boothbay, ME Monday through Friday.

• Annual pay in the range of: $140,000 - $75,000

Responsibilities of the Vice President of Finance and Infrastructure:

• Analyze and evaluate the organization's financial performance with respect to goals, budget, and forecasts, and provide analysis to the CEO/President on a regular basis. Suggest strategic opportunities to increase revenue and decrease expenses.
• Oversee the organization’s $1 million annual budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility, transparency, and alignment with organizational goals.
• Manage investment strategies to optimize returns, balance risk, and ensure the organization’s financial health.
• Oversee insurance policies in conjunction with HR
• Manage all aspects of facility operations, including maintenance, landscaping, and infrastructure, ensuring the grounds and buildings are safe, welcoming, and in excellent condition.
• Implement sustainable practices and green technologies to minimize environmental impact, supporting the Gardens’ commitment to conservation and climate action.
• Successfully plan, lead, and manage Master Plan and capital building projects, working closely with other senior leaders and stakeholders to coordinate across departments to ensure on-time and on-budget completion.
• Oversee security protocols for all facilities, ensuring a safe environment for staff, volunteers, visitors, and assets.
• Manage the IT systems that support the Gardens’ operations, ensuring they are secure, up-to-date, and capable of supporting the organization’s growth. Lead initiatives that leverage technology to enhance operational efficiency, visitor experience, and data management.
• Hire, supervise, motivate, and evaluate staff following the Garden’s policies and best practices in human resources, including the Garden’s Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility goals.
• Communicate and collaborate effectively, and build and maintain trusted relationships with staff, peers, Board, key partners, stakeholders, and other institutions and organizations.
• As a leader at the Gardens, promote and foster a culture of teamwork, cooperation, integrity, efficiency, diversity, inclusion, belonging, and respect throughout the Gardens with all employees, supervisors/managers, volunteers, visitors, and others.
