**The Role**
+ Accurately completes documentation related to the Finishing process. Inspects softgels to either approve or reject for quality. Performs re-inspection when necessary.
+ Handles tray stacks and stages stacks for inspection or packaging. Operates softgel washers and counting line machines, including scales.
+ May be required to operate softgel printing machines. Performs line clearances between product lots. Inspects and cleans empty trays for use in the production cycle.
+ Packages softgels in bulk and properly identifies cartons of softgels with product labels. Transfers sealed cartons of softgels in box room or warehouse, when necessary.
+ Performs work according to safety policies and practices related to the position. Handles non-hazardous, hazardous and DEA waste. Maintains a clean work area.
+ Notifies supervision immediately regarding potential quality issues which may require QA notification. Cross - training to perform tasks, operate equipment and maintain the necessary documentation in other production departments will be required.
+ Depending on shift staffing level and/or the workload, an operator could be assigned to perform tasks in an area different than her/his primary position/business unit.

**The Candidate**

**FINISHING GLUER OPERATOR JOB SUMMARY:** Operates machine that forms and glues flat cartons into finished cartons. They understand and align business operations and the Department as he/she executes their role to exceed customer expectations and align with GPI business, cultural, financial and operational objectives.
**Primary Responsibilities are, but not limited to the following:**
+ Adjusts forming bars to accommodate size of box to be shaped
+ Fills glue pots with adhesive and positions rollers to dispense glue onto paperboard
+ Observes machine operation to detect malfunction

**JOB SUMMARY:**
The finishing operator is responsible for the machine setup, adjustments, make-readies, assist with maintenance, troubleshooting quality issues, and operation of their assigned folding gluing machine. While operating the machine, they are responsible for safely and efficiently manufacturing high quality folding cartons at or above target run speeds while minimizing waste and downtime. The machine operator is the leader of the crew and oversees the activities of the feeder packers working on that machine. The operator must obtain and review the job ticket for items, quantities, caliper of the paperboard, and any special instruction that is informational for running the order to specification. The case specification must also be reviewed to make sure that the instructions are clear and concise prior to running the order. The operator is responsible for ensuring all make-readies are put on as quickly as possible. The operator inspects the product quality including folded score caliper, proper gluing and stacking, carton and score alignment, and case fit, and ensures that the machine is in good running condition. The operator ensures that the Leary glue and mix detection system is constantly functioning correctly. The operator is also responsible for shutting down the machine if it is to be left unattended. This position reports to the Finishing Lead, Shift Supervisor and Finishing Manager.
**JOB FUNCTIONS:** Job functions include, but are not limited to the following:

+ Exchange of information with shifts prior to/following work shift

+ Maintain a clean and safe work area

**FINISHING (GLUER) OPERATOR**
**_Our Staunton, VA facility is looking for a Finishing Operator to support our Finishing Department. This position is responsible for set up and maintaining folder/gluer equipment and processes to produce folding cartons._**
**Primary Responsibilities are, but not limited to the following:**
+ Set up and maintain the folder/gluer to produce folding cartons
+ Locate and load proper stock in preparation for operation
+ Prepares make-ready feeder, prefold, glue system, final fold, delivery, pack station and inspection system
+ Operates folder/gluer in accordance with customer specifications and current standard operating procedures
+ Ensures total quality of the job while in operation
+ Maintains the machine and area in accordance with the standard operation procedures
+ Demonstrates competency in all basic folds: straight-line, lock-bottom, inner partition, etc.
+ Complete all job logs as required
+ Performs other job duties as assigned
+ Follow all company safety requirements
+ Comply with all company rules and regulations
**An individual in this position must be able to learn and demonstrate the following skills;**

• Grooving pipe for 8 hours
• Runs pipe through machine – pipe is either 20’ or 40’ in length
• Pipe is fed into machine from a nearby rack

• Capable of being trained on thread specification and use proper QC tooling
• Ability to work overtime as needed.
