Primary Purpose of Position:
Direct the day to day operation of all security and life safety functions of the building. Prepare, revise, and maintain logs of all alarm and fire suppression and evacuation systems. Train building personnel as well as tenants in regards to Fire Safety Plan, Non-Fire Emergencies Plan and Medical Emergencies Plan.
Essential Functions:
+ Staff and monitor lobby fire command station.
+ Report to Fire Command Station and implement Fire Safety Plan, Non-Fire Emergency Plan and/or Medical Emergency Plan as dictated by circumstances.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Firestopping Inspector with a minimum of 2+ years of experience and relevant certifications in Life Safety/Firestop inspections to service clients throughout Western PA.
Responsibilities:
+ Firestop Inspections: Conduct thorough inspections of firestops within the facility, including walls, joints, and penetrations.
+ certified in firestop: ICC, FTE, commercial building experience, STI or HILTI certifications
+ Compliance Verification: Ensure that all firestops meet the standards outlined in ASTM E2174 and E2393.
+ Code Compliance: Verify that firestops are in compliance with the 2012 International Building Code (IBC), especially for buildings exceeding 75 feet in height and category III and IV buildings (Chapter 17, section of the IBC).
+ Statewide Health Planning and Development: Verify compliance with Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD) Policy Intent Notice (PIN) 67 for new regional requirements specific to California.

The Fire Safety Specialist is responsible for ensuring the safety and compliance of fire detection, alarm, control, and suppression systems within the organization. **Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:**
OCONUS. Travel up to 25% of the time. Must be able to lift and carry up to 15 pounds for short distances, stoop, bend, kneel, walk, and have full dexterity. Outside work in hot and cold, or wet weather, is often required. Protective devices are required to avoid injury.

**Position Specific Description**
This position is essential for ensuring the fire safety compliance and effectiveness of utility-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS). As the Fire Safety subject matter expert (SME), you will play a critical role in reviewing safety reports, approving fire safety designs, and guiding adherence to relevant codes and standards. This includes engagement with national and local fire institutions and first responders, educating various stakeholders on BESS fire safety, and ensuring standardized safety measures across all company projects. You will also participate in industry committees, fostering the advancement of fire safety standards for battery energy storage systems. **Job Duties and Responsibilities:**
+ Act as a Fire Safety subject matter expert (SME) for utility-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS).
+ Review all UL 9540a reports from cell-, module-, and up through unit/installation-level, and provide direction.
+ Analyze, approve, and offer guidance toward the fire safety system designs of BESS manufacturers and projects.
+ Review, provide feedback, and offer guidance for all project- and product-level designs regarding BESS safety and code compliance, ensuring adherence to all applicable codes and standards, including UL, NFPA, and IFC.
+ Oversee all safety analyses for project-level reports, including hazard mitigation analysis (HMA), failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), heat flux analysis, and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations ensuring that all fire safety requirements are met or exceeded.
+ Initiate and foster relationships with national, state, and local fire institutions and first responders, including Fire Marshalls, Fire Departments, and educational institutions.
+ Travel to local jurisdictions to present BESS and fire safety to first responders, authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs), public utility commissions (PUCs), and community meetings, addressing and educating about the concerns of each stakeholder.
+ Work closely with local firefighters and first responders to educate them about the potential BESS hazards, hazard mitigation, fire safety system designs, sequences of operation, and emergency response/operation plans (ERP/EOPs).
+ Standardize information around BESS fire safety systems throughout the organization, ensuring consistent messaging in every region in which our projects are deployed.
+ Participate in task groups and technical committees for collaboration and direction of the advancement of industry codes and standards pertaining to the safety of battery energy storage systems.
