You will be responsible for safety and loss prevention programs, ensuring compliance with current safety regulations and advising management about these topics. Your functions will include:
- Develop safety procedures for employees, inmates/detainees/patients/residents, contractors/visitors. Monitors and enforces both corporate and facility-level safety policies.
- Conduct safety inspections; recommend and implement relevant changes.
- Provide ongoing safety training for all staff and inmates, detainees, patients, and residents.
- Train and mentor Fire and Safety staff; take part in compliance audits at other GEO facilities.
- Control the use of hazardous chemicals; ensure Monitors Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) compliance.
- Evaluate needs and monitor usage/effectiveness of personal protective equipment.
- Establish and control sanitation/hygiene standards, air quality, noise-level, and lighting compliance.
- Ensure fire protection systems and safety equipment are tested regularly as required by insurers, the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) or client regulations.
- Develop an Emergency Plan and conduct at least one simulation per year.
- Serve as the operational liaison with community emergency responders.
- Adopt Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Incident Command guidelines.
- Conduct scheduled fire drills across all shifts and monthly safety committee meetings.
- Responsible for the facility's safety budget.
- Investigate accidents or near accidents - including reports and recommended changes.
- Ensure the accuracy of the accident recording system or Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) log.
- Review construction/contracted repair activities to ensure compliance with safety policies and regulations.
- Be on-call 24/7 for emergencies.

Direct the day to day operation of all security and life safety functions of the building. Prepare, revise, and maintain logs of all alarm and fire suppression and evacuation systems. Train building personnel as well as tenants in regards to Fire Safety Plan, Non-Fire Emergencies Plan and Medical Emergencies Plan.
Essential Functions:
+ Staff and monitor lobby fire command station.
+ Report to Fire Command Station and implement Fire Safety Plan, Non-Fire Emergency Plan and/or Medical Emergency Plan as dictated by circumstances.
+ Notify arriving emergency response personnel of the nature of the emergency and the response taken or actions implemented.
+ Interview, train, and deploy security/fire & life safety personnel in a manner, which maximizes the protection of life and property.
+ Train the Deputy FLSD, the Fire Life Safety Brigade, the Fire Life Safety Wardens, and the Deputy Fire Life Safety Wardens.
+ Assist the Property Manager in implementing and maintaining an approved Comprehensive Fire Safety and Emergency Action program in the building.

What You'll Do
In the role of Fire Safety Specialist, your duties will include:
+ Install, repair, and inspect smoke and fire suppression systems.
+ Inspect, test and repair fire alarm wiring, fire alarm panels and peripheral equipment.
+ Identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair.
+ Inspect, repair or replace smoke/heat detectors and sprinkler heads.
+ Repair and test wet/dry systems; test fire alarm system devices using appropriate diagnostic programs and test equipment.
+ Ensure that work is in accordance with relevant codes.
+ Read, interpret, and apply system design plans and building construction drawings and documents.
+ Perform true test smoke detector sensitivity procedure.
+ Perform routine maintenance on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is required.
+ Performs all other duties as assigned.
This is a contingent position based upon contract award and will be located OCONUS
REQUIREMENTS:
+ Must have an active Secret clearance and be eligible for upgrade to TS/SCI with Poly level clearance.
+ Five (5+) years of experience in the installation of fire detection, alarm, control, and suppression systems.
+ Professional Engineer License or (NICET) Level III
+ Certified in Fire Protection Systems from a jurisdiction within the US and requisite experience (or equivalent and approved by the customer)
+ A willingness to work on-call to resolve equipment deficiencies impacting facility operation.
+ Ability to work rotational shift if necessary, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
+ Ability and willingness to work in a challenging environment.

Job Description
Direct the day to day operation of all security and life safety functions of the building. Prepare, revise, and maintain logs of all alarm and fire suppression and evacuation systems. Train building personnel as well as tenants in regards to Fire Safety Plan, Non-Fire Emergencies Plan and Medical Emergencies Plan.
Essential Functions:
+ Staff and monitor lobby fire command station.
+ Report to Fire Command Station and implement Fire Safety Plan, Non-Fire Emergency Plan and/or Medical Emergency Plan as dictated by circumstances.
+ Notify arriving emergency response personnel of the nature of the emergency and the response taken or actions implemented.
+ Interview, train, and deploy security/fire & life safety personnel in a manner, which maximizes the protection of life and property.
+ Train the Deputy FLSD, the Fire Life Safety Brigade, the Fire Life Safety Wardens, and the Deputy Fire Life Safety Wardens.
+ Assist the Property Manager in implementing and maintaining an approved Comprehensive Fire Safety and Emergency Action program in the building.
+ Periodically test Class E System and all ancillary equipment maintaining logs of such tests reporting any and all deficiencies to Property Manager.
+ Revise and maintain all assignments of Fire & Life Safety personnel and associated logs. Post all floor Fire & Life Safety team information as required by law.

Requirements and Qualifications:
+ A high school diploma or equivalent educational certification required.
+ A minimum of 3 years' experience in the supervision of Fire & Life Safety in a high-rise office building.
+ By education or experience possess the knowledge to administrate a fire safety program within the parameters of all local ordinances and building standards.
+ A documented history of employment in the security, police, firefighting or military field.
+ Fire & Life Safety Director Certificate. (F-89)
+ Standpipe and sprinkler certificate.
+ Any other license or certification as from time to time may be required by local law or ordinance.
