**Location:** This position will report to Georgia Power HQ located at 241 Ralph McGill Blvd Atlanta, GA (Statewide Responsibility). Position may report directly to customer locations on a daily basis.
**Travel Requirements** - 50% to include overnight stay- position requires travel statewide, including overnight travel.
**JOB REQUIREMENTS**
**Education**
+ Bachelor's degree in Fire Science or Fire Protection Engineering, preferred
+ Professional Certification through NFPA (ex. Certified Fire Protection Specialist CFPS) preferred.
+ NICET Fire Certifications- preferred.
**Experience**
+ Must have a minimum of 3 years' experience developing, implementing, and assuring compliance with state and local fire requirements required.
+ Must have a minimum of 3 years' experience working with fire systems including inspection, maintenance, or system design.
+ Anyone with Fire Marshall and Fire Safety experience preferred
+ Previous experience delivering presentations to large group audiences (50 or more attendees) is required.
+ Experience working with utility or similar industry fire systems (inspections, maintenance and engineering) strongly desired.
+ Previous experience developing procedures that comply with federal, state, and/or local regulatory agencies- strongly desired.
+ Previous experience auditing facility fire systems- preferred.
**JOB SUMMARY**
+ Work with management to develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety and health programs to ensure compliance with regulatory and company policies and procedures.
+ Provide technical expertise related to fire systems design, inspection requirements, maintenance and testing of GPC facilities' fire suppression and alarm systems.
+ Support training program through oversight, material development, direction, coordination, support and instruction for Georgia Power employees around fire protection and prevention methods.
+ Develop and foster a business relationship with the State Fire Marshal's offices and act as a liaison to local Fire Departments and other agencies for purposes of communication and exchange on relevant topics including, new system installation/upgrades, new technologies, new regulatory requirements, and other relevant matters.
+ Partner with business units to conduct routine facility fire system safety inspections and audits to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
+ Provide technical insight during project development and planning meetings.
+ Prepare clear, detailed technical reports and documentation for fire safety activities, system performance, and incident investigations.
+ Contribute to the development and enhancement of Emergency Response Plans, supporting preparedness and effective incident management.
+ Review, develop, and update fire safety policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with current standards and operational requirements.
+ Evaluate current Emergency Response programs, provide insight into gaps, and assist in building successful Emergency Response strategies to close gaps.
+ Perform monthly facility walkdowns and assessments to identify areas of non-compliance.
+ Provide training and education to employees on safety and health practices.
+ Collaborate with various work groups to integrate safety and health initiatives into daily operations.
+ Serve as a corporate resource, offering expertise and guidance on safety and health matters.
+ Drive a positive safety culture by promoting best practices, encouraging proactive safety behaviors, and challenging the status quo.
+ Stay current with industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in fire safety/emergency management.
**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES**
+ Must be highly motivated, self-driven, and capable of working independently with limited or no supervision.
+ Experience in a leadership role is desired.
+ Experience in writing safety processes and procedures is desired.

**Fire/Life Safety Service Technicians** play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of our Smart Buildings. You will be responsible for the service and maintenance of commercial fire alarm and sprinkler systems. **As a Fire/Life Safety Service Technician, you will:**
+ Execute comprehensive testing and inspections for systems under maintenance agreements and create detailed test and inspection reports based on code requirements and customer needs
+ Swiftly respond to, troubleshoot, and complete necessary repairs to maintain system functionality. Report on activities completed, deferred, or requiring further action or material
+ Code Compliance: Identify code and non-conformance issues, ensuring adherence to required standards
+ Quote small repair jobs and provide detailed parts and labor requirements to estimators and sales for large repair projects
+ Inspect, repair, and maintain wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge fire sprinkler systems, standpipes, backflow preventers, fire hydrants, and fire pumps
+ Perform fire sprinkler, fire pump and other water-based equipment inspections and testing
+ Properly document deficiencies/impairments noted during inspections or service work and follow required process of reporting deficiencies while on-site
+ Adhere to local, corporate, and OSHA safety policies and procedures
+ Maintain complete and accurate documentation of all work performed
+ Maintain vehicle stock, tools, and equipment. Follow corporate policies related to vehicle use and care
+ Mentor lower-level Fire/Life Safety Service Technicians
**You will make an impact with these qualifications:**
Basic Qualifications:
+ 1+ year of experience in the installation and/or maintenance of commercial fire alarm or sprinkler systems or mechanically inclined
+ Must obtain NICET Fire Alarm Certification Level 1 within 12 months
+ Must be willing and able to differentiate types/colors of wire, use hand tools, laptop, email, smartphone, and tablet, carry and move equipment and tools weighing up to 75 pounds unassisted
+ Must be willing and able to work in a variety of environments in and around mechanical equipment, including climbing ladders, scaffolds, and high-lift equipment, working in ducts, above ceilings, and in outside/inside/heat/cold/day/night conditions
+ Must be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license with limited violations
+ Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications:
+ High school diploma, state-recognized GED, Associate's, or Bachelor's Degree preferred

This entry level position is considered a **trainee** who is learning the mechanics of fire alarm system installation. This position will assist with the performance of routine inspections, testing, and preventative maintenance of fire alarm systems under direct supervision. In addition, this role will support the diagnosis and evaluation of systems that require servicing as well as troubleshooting issues that arise during inspections under direct supervision. This position may install and test fire alarm systems under the close guidance of a Fire Alarm Technician. Position receives guidance and direction regarding day-to-day work tasks from a Fire Alarm Technician.
**Job Qualifications**
Experience in construction or similar field with demonstrated electrical skills or related training is a plus.
Ability to follow verbal work instructions/directions.

**Essential Duties & Responsibilities**
+ Establish contact with prospects and qualify potential buyers of Fire Protection contracts by scheduling sales calls, following up on leads and utilizing outlined marketing strategies.
+ Determine customer needs and develop a sales strategy to gain customer understanding of company offerings.
+ Close sufficient sales to exceed sales plan objectives.

- EITs to join our growing North America Fire Protection Engineering Team. We are better together. Fire Protection Engineers (FPEs) protect lives and property. They plan and design engineering projects that prevent fires from occurring and minimize the impact of those fires that do occur. Fire protection systems detect, control and reduce fire and smoke in buildings and structures. FPEs recommend materials, equipment, and systems to assist in safeguarding life and property against fire, analyze how fire behaves and model how safety features perform in a fire. They assess the fire protection needs within projects and document those in design analysis or basis of design reports. They create design documents for fire protection systems, including drawings, using computer-aided design (CAD) or Building Information Modeling (BIM) software, and specifications that are used to direct the construction of buildings and systems in the field. FPEs perform construction progress inspections and acceptance tests / commissioning to ensure that installed systems comply with the construction documents and applicable codes and that they function as intended. - EIT performs engineering work under close supervision requiring the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to carry out a sequence of related fire protection engineering tasks such as the preparation of simple plans, designs, calculations, costs and bills of material in accordance with established codes, standards and drawings. The role applies professional concepts and expands upon learning while performing various phases of engineering work receiving detailed instruction.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Apply general concepts of fire protection engineering through investigation and analysis to support engineering projects that may include design of fire suppression systems (sprinklers and standpipes, water supply, special hazard extinguishing systems), fire detection and alarm systems, and smoke control systems, selection of fire-resistant materials and assemblies, and development of egress strategies.
- Perform basic calculations to analyze and design engineering system components using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.
- Gather information to support design decisions.
- Assist team in preparing engineering designs, drawings, specifications, presentations and reports.
- Verify compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards and practices.
- Work with other architecture and engineering design professionals in the coordination and delivery of projects under the direction of a senior engineer.
- Assist the team in providing support services during construction, including submittal reviews, response to requests for information and contract document clarifications, construction progress inspections and acceptance testing.
- Perform other duties as assigned by senior engineering staff.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Basic knowledge of interpretation and application of building and fire codes and NFPA standards.
- Knowledge of active and passive fire protection systems, including fire suppression systems, fire detection and alarm systems, smoke control systems, fire resistive construction and egress systems.
- Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting with internal and external clients.
- Strong technical writing, presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, Revit, AutoCAD.

Education and Experience

We're looking for a Fire Protection / Life Safety Systems (LSS) Engineer who is excited about working on projects that enable the heart of our client's business. The ideal candidate will be located in AZ, OR, TX or PA, however, qualified candidates located elsewhere in the U.S will also be considered.

As a LSS Engineer working with our teams, you'll use your skills and experience to help our clients, by providing code-compliant asset protection and fire life safety mitigation solutions. You will be expected to both provide guidance to co-workers and receive solutions from variance senior design professionals so that you can take ownership of various projects as the engineer of record. These fire solutions entail fire sprinklers, gaseous agents, fire detection, toxic gas detection, smoke modeling, and explosion prevention.
You will interface directly with client counterparts in the designing of their facilities and state and local code officials. Utilizing AutoCAD and Revit MEP, our teams create 3D models in coordination with architects and engineers. From those 3D BIM models you'll design fire sprinkler systems, fire alarm systems, smoke and leak detection, security and intrusion detection systems, and more. Using the various applicable Life Safety & Fire codes as well as industry standards you will provide calculations; equipment size and quantities; equipment and construction specifications; network diagrams and various construction deliverables in both 2D and 3D platforms for a constructible design.

* Bachelor's degree in Engineering
* At least 4 years of AutoCAD design experience
* Knowledge of IFC, IBC, NFPA101 Life Safety Code and NFPA 72 Fire Alarm and Signaling Code
* Knowledge and application of NFPA 70 (NEC) and electrical design requirements
* Knowledge and application of NFPA 400 Hazardous Materials Code
* Knowledge of Fire Alarm Systems and manufacturers' equipment, including VESDA systems
* Design experience with Fire Alarm, VESDA systems, security CCTV, HPM and Leak Detection
* Knowledge of design and construction specifications
* Experience estimating and scheduling mid-to-large-scale projects
Ideally, you'll also have:   
* Professional Engineering (PE) license
* Experience leading projects and managing resources
* Experience mentoring junior staff
* Design Management experience
* Design experience in semiconductor or data centers
* Working knowledge of 3D BIM software (Revit)
