**Job Summary**
Northstar Fire Protection is seeking a Fire Protection Estimator. In this position you will be performing Fire System work in several areas of the construction industry. You will be estimating and doing site visits as well as some marketing and sales tasks.
**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**
+ Establish contact with prospects and qualify potential buyers of Fire Protection contracts by scheduling sales calls, following up on leads and utilizing outlined marketing strategies.
+ Determine customer needs and develop a sales strategy to gain customer understanding of company offerings.
+ Close sufficient sales to exceed sales plan objectives.
+ Familiar with reading blueprints, understanding current NFPA 13, 14, and 20 standards and local codes.
+ Develop a positive ongoing relationship with existing and new customers, general contractors and end users.
+ Estimate small projects including fixed price service as required in addition to large projects ranging from $00k- 1MM+.
+ Ability to build new business associations / relationships and grow the Fire Protection Business

**Qualifications**
+ Experience in a Fire Protection industry preferred
+ Previous design and/or construction Project Management experience preferred.
+ Experience performing tasks such as layout, takeoff, and hydraulic calculations to put contract proposals together for customers.
+ Experience with various design software/tools such as AutoCad, Revit, Revu, and Navisworks.
+ Previous Contract Sales experience with ground up warehouse, retrofit warehouse, and cold storage warehouses would be a plus
+ Understanding of underground design and install procedures for bidding purposes would be a plus.
+ Self-motivated with a strong desire to succeed
+ Proven ability to work effectively with minimal supervision, able to multi-task and organize work
+ Exceptional presentation, verbal and written communication skills
+ Regular and reliable attendance, including the ability to work extended hours and weekends as required

**JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE**
Conducts fire protection engineering activities and provides oversight of the site fire protection program as the Fire Protection Program Owner. Identifies and resolves plant issues and acts as a liaison between engineering team and Operations and Maintenance departments as the Fire Protection System Engineer.
**JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES**
+ Support site with expertise in fire protection engineering principles, USNRC regulations (including Appendix R to 10CFR50, Safe Shutdown), Industrial Risk Insurance requirements, NYS Uniform Code and NFPA Code/Standards.
+ Ensure physical plant and administrative changes do not adversely impact the fire protection program including the safe shutdown analysis or the Fire Probabilistic Risk Assessment.
+ Perform fire hazard analyses, including fire modeling, to assess impact of proposed plant changes or identified deviations on the fire protection program.
+ Ensure fire protection systems are maintained in accordance with requirements. Review surveillance and inspection results to ensure scope and frequency is optimized.
+ Develop and present periodic reports to peer and station management regarding the overall health of the Fire Protection Program.
+ Maintain fire protection program documents including the Design Basis Document, Safe Shutdown Analysis, Fire Hazard Analysis, and NFPA Code Conformance Review Report.
+ Review proposed plant changes to ensure conformance with NFPA Codes/Standards, USNRC regulations, NYS Uniform Code, and fire risk insurance requirements.
+ Provide oversight of the fire protection program as the Fire Protection Program Owner to ensure compliance with USNRC rules and regulations. Ensures the fire protection program is maintained such that the risk and consequences of fire is minimized.
+ Actively participate in Entergy Fleet Peer groups and industry fire protection groups to ensure lessons learned and best practices are reviewed and implemented.
+ Act as point of contact and lead for Fire Protection Program assessments and inspections.
+ Develop, plan and coordinate special projects, corrective action plans, and improvement programs to address plant problems or regulatory issues.
+ Controls engineering costs through the optimization of resources and tracking expenditures within budget parameters.
+ Identifies and resolves plant issues and acts as a liaison between engineering team and Operations and Maintenance departments.
+ Supports Maintenance and Operations in system troubleshooting and provides technical support regarding troubleshooting significant events or complex plant problems.
+ Interfaces with Maintenance and Operations for cost effective maintenance strategies.
+ Helps support planning and prioritization aspects of project life cycle.
+ Implements action plans of senior team members and establishes/prioritizes actions plans to address deficiencies via the corrective action and work management processes. Supports changes in system configuration/design and design basis.
+ Serves on outage engineering support teams. Attends training and maintains qualifications necessary to perform required group functions.

**Minimum education required of the position**
B.S. Degree in Fire Protection Engineering or Fire Protection Engineering Technology from an accredited engineering curriculum or equivalent work experience.
If not a graduate of the nature (B.S. degree in Fire Protection Engineering or Fire Protection Engineering Technology), a minimum of 6 years engineering experience indicative of growth in engineering competency and achievement in a Highly Protected Risk facility is required.

**Job Overview**
Jensen Hughes has a new job opportunity for a Fire Protection Consultant in our Anaheim, Los Angeles and San Diego, CA office locations. We are looking for highly motivated, experienced individuals to work in all aspects of fire protection engineering, including building code consulting, fire protection systems, and fire protection strategies.
The successful applicant will have a well-rounded background in fire protection and code consulting and possess strong analytical and creative thinking skills. The role will involve many aspects of fire protection engineering with a focus on Building Code and Fire Code consulting. The position will coordinate and conduct building plan reviews, interpret the building codes, develop alternative solutions, prepare building design reports, and coordinate with fire protection engineering design teams. The candidate will be responsible for the review and implementation of fire protection strategies and will coordinate all matters with design teams and authorities having jurisdiction.
**Responsibilities:**
+ Manage and implement a wide variety of engineering design and consulting projects.
+ Satisfy client needs and expectations by completing assigned tasks on schedule and within budget
+ Coordinate and conduct building and fire code reviews and analyses, including plan reviews and site visits
+ Prepare and peer review of project-related technical reports
+ Develop fire protection strategies, performance-based design approaches, and alternative solutions to resolve client design issues
+ Effectively communicate with project team members, clients, and others
+ Assist with business development activities
**Qualifications:**
+ Three (3) + years of experience in any of the following areas: fire life safety code consulting, smoke control consulting, fire suppression and alarm systems design, and/or developing performance-based strategies in a project design environment
+ Bachelor's Degree or higher in Engineering (preferably Fire Protection), Architecture, or related field preferred
+ Registered Professional Engineer or on track to professional designation preferred
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills
+ Proven project management experience
+ Experience in developing building code concepts and equivalencies, conducting building plan reviews, and conducting field reviews/inspections
+ Ability to present clear and technically sound fire protection engineering strategies.
+ Ability to work well independently and to interact with other industry professionals, associated trades, and jurisdictional authorities

- Apply concepts of fire protection engineering through investigation and analysis to support engineering projects that may include design of fire suppression systems (sprinklers and standpipes, water supply, special hazard extinguishing systems), fire detection and alarm systems, and smoke control systems, selection of fire-resistant materials and assemblies, and development of egress strategies.
- Perform calculations to analyze and design engineering system components using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.
- Gather information to support design decisions.
- Prepare engineering designs, drawings, specifications, presentations and reports with guidance from senior engineers.
- Verify compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards and practices.
- Work with other architecture and engineering design professionals in the coordination and delivery of projects under the direction of a senior engineer.

Your Capabilities and Credentials
