Your Key Responsibilities

APTIM is seeking motivated and curious mid-level engineers to join our team of engineering professionals serving our Fire Protection Engineering program.
APTIM's Fire Protection Engineering program provides engineering services for our Federal and Department of Defense clients protecting warehousing, fuel facilities, hazardous materials storage; as well as our commercial clients in retail, distribution, storage, fuel and industrial markets. You will assist the Environmental Occupational Safety and Health (EOSH) Services Group to support and improve Fire Life Safety program elements intended to protect employees and others in the workplace and ensure compliance with Federal, State, and FAA laws and regulations.

The surveys require broad knowledge and experience in analyzing and evaluating these facilities against the applicable requirements of the International Building Code, NFPA 101, NFPA 13, NFPA 20, NFPA 72, NFPA 75, and other applicable codes, standards, and FAA orders.
+ Evaluate facility human element programs to address OSHA required Emergency Action Plans, Fire Prevention Plans, fire drills, and inspection, testing and maintenance of fire protection and life safety systems.
+ Coordination of sites with customer on specific dates, locations, impacts to the facility, etc.
+ Develop and maintain a current schedule of CRA's at all times, with dates of visit, location, current status of CRA, team assigned, and other relevant information.

**Fire Protection Engineer Basic Qualifications:**
+ Relevant Bachelors' Degree and 4+ years relevant exempt experience or a relevant Masters' Degree and 2+ years relevant exempt experience.
+ Professional Engineer License or EIT certificate.
+ Strong working knowledge of applicable ICC and NFPA codes.
+ Past experience developing and/or providing holistic consultation on FLS programs.
+ Ability to produce FLS designs of a variety of critical FLS elements and be able to provide critical comments on FLS designs and installations.
+ Former experience in training FLS concepts and code application.

+ Experience in developing building code concepts and equivalencies, conducting building plan reviews, and conducting field reviews/inspections.
+ Ability to present clear and technically sound fire protection engineering strategies.
+ Ability to work well independently and to interact with other industry professionals, associated trades, and jurisdictional authorities.
+ Fire alarm & fire sprinkler design knowledge/experience is a plus.

**Job Title: Fire Protection Inspector**
The primary function of this role is to perform NFPA based inspections of water-based fire systems and fire alarm systems. The Company goal is to continuously grow the revenues of Inspections while maintaining profits, satisfying customer's requirements, and staying compliant with NFPA guidelines.
This job requires the ability and desire to work in a fast-paced multi-tasked environment with a focus towards customer development and support, quality work performance, and an understanding of all the necessary NFPA codes that support each fire system. It will require travel to customer sites.
**Essential Duties / Responsibilities:**
Perform basic troubleshooting of wet based fire systems, and describe them to owners and service managers for repairs.
+ Perform inspections from man lifts at elevations of 30 to 40 feet from ground level, as necessary.
+ Perform annual inspections on both domestic and fire back flows.
+ Monitor and assure progress and completion of all assigned tasks.
+ Complete and submit all work tickets and inspection reports to administrative personnel in a timely manner.
+ Responsible for self-scheduling of daily inspections.
**Qualifications:**

**Education / Work Experience:**
+ Experienced / Licensed NICET LV 1 (ITWBS) minimum.
+ Sprinkler inspector with backflow license -Minimum 3 years experience.
+ Perform NFPA 25 based inspections on wet, dry, deluge, pre-action, and fire pumps required.
+ Perform NFPA 25 based inspections on standpipe systems and fire hydrants required.
+ Perform NFPA 72 based inspections on fire alarm systems, including all components of those systems a plus.
+ High school diploma or GED required; vocational or industry trade school is a plus.
+ Working knowledge of the operational characteristics of the following Fire Protection Systems required: wet, dry, foam, deluge, pre-action, standpipe, fire hydrants, and fire pumps.
+ Individual backflow license and NICET Level II in water based or fire alarm systems are pluses.
+ Basic mechanical skills, including the ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues required.
+ Ability to work on ladders, scaffolding, and scissors or articulating lifts.
+ Valid driver's license with clean driving record required.
+ Ability to obtain all required certifications, including NICET.
+ Able to lift a minimum of 35 pounds.
