**Recreation and Wellness at Auburn University is seeking a Group Fitness Coordinator** to oversee the daily operations of the Group Fitness program, including scheduling, instructing, and evaluating group fitness classes; recruiting and training student instructors; and managing payroll. The coordinator plays a key role in advancing our commitment to transformative programming that promotes student development and well-being.

Recreation and Wellness provides fitness, wellness, sports, and outdoor recreation opportunities for Auburn University students, faculty, and staff. Programs include group fitness, intramural sports, club sports, outdoor adventure experiences, climbing, Olympic/Powerlifting, and personal training.

**Essential Functions**
+ Recruits, trains, supervises, and evaluates student staff in Group Fitness formats.
+ Facilitates instructor training and professional development opportunities that support student-led formats offered at Recreation and Wellness.
+ Assists in Group Fitness program planning to ensure program outcomes are interdepartmentally and institutionally aligned.
+ Assesses, designs, and refines Group Fitness class offerings at the Recreation and Wellness Center.
+ Facilitates Group Fitness special events.
+ Collaborates with professional staff, student supervisors, and instructors to coordinate events and outreach opportunities.
+ Collaborates with professional staff, student supervisors, and instructors to organize staff scheduling and evaluations.
+ Provides administrative support including but not limited to payroll verification, scheduling, and substitution tracking.
+ Teaches group fitness classes to provide experiential learning, mentorships, and professional development opportunities for students.

POSITION OVERVIEW
• Assist in organizing programs for Independent Living resident group and individual activities based on residents individualized needs as identified in resident's negotiated service plans.
• Maintain a balance of recreational activities.

Minimum Requirements
+ Associate's degree or higher in Exercise Science, Recreation, Kinesiology or related discipline and 1+ years related experience or equivalent combination of education, certifications, and experience.
+ Industry recognized Group Exercise Instructor certification from ACE, AFAA/NASM, ACSM, NCCPT or NETA (if not current, will be required within 90 days).
+ NCCA Accredited Personal Trainer certification from an Industry recognized and HealthFitness approved agency (in not current, will be required within 1 year).
+ Current Adult CPR/AED/First Aid certifications from American Heart Association, American Red Cross, National Safety Institute, or American Safety & Health Institute required by start date. ( **Note:** certification must have an in-person component and not 100% online/OSHA compliant).
+ Demonstrated experience in leading, coordinating and delivering effective programs including budgeting, marketing, and promotions.
+ Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work demands.
+ Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills including the ability to motivate others.
