Joining Process Innovation and Scale-Up with ExxonMobil Technology and Engineering Company, you will be an integral technical contributor to process development and scale-up programs applying transport and fluid dynamics fundamentals and computational physics-based modeling skill sets to tackle process development, scale-up, and unit design problems critical to developing new process technologies from concept ideas to commercial scale deployment.
**What you will do**
+ Develop and apply fluid mechanics and transport phenomena models to guide the development and design of new process technologies with applications across ExxonMobil Business Divisions; Upstream Company, Product Solutions Company, and Low Carbon Solutions.
+ Work collaboratively as part of cross-discipline team of experts in experimentation (active materials development, pilot plants, cold-flow experimentation), process engineering and equipment design. Though the role will be modeling focused, some programs may also offer ability to do experimental work.
+ Serve as a subject matter expert in topics related to CFD to research and process engineering community
+ Your success in this role requires an aptitude for and strong background in physics based modeling, particularly in the areas of fluid dynamics and transport phenomena, and a broad interest applying these skills to process development.
+ Many problems rely on strong base in chemical engineering unit operations - with a suitable academic/experience background, that can be developed through assignments on projects.

+ PhD in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline with relevant thesis work
+ Demonstrated experience with:
+ Developing and applying models in area of fluid mechanics and transport, in areas such as multiphase modeling, granular flow, or combustion.
+ Computational languages: Transport modeling on platforms such as Ansys Fluent or OpenFOAM, MatLab, Python, C/C++ High performance computing
+ Strong ability and interest to work on applications driven abstract problems and develop creative out-of-the box solutions

**Preferred Qualifications/ Experience**
+ Development of Custom Models (Fluent UDFs, OpenFOAM)

Duties and Responsibilities
ASML is seeking a highly talented Senior CFD Application Engineer to join our team in San Diego. The candidate will perform a variety of engineering tasks including providing inputs in designing & using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) tools to analyzesubassemblies and modules from a concept phase to a final design. Work with cross-functional teams to support the products and passionate solving complex engineering problems.

Perform CAD clean-up and generate meshes for complex geometries.
Develop modeling methodologies for complex problems that involve plasma-gas interaction, multi-physics, fluid flow, heat transfer, and particle tracking, and rarified gas dynamics.
Apply commercial CFD tools to perform transient and steady state analysis for flow, thermal, conjugate heat transfer including radiation, discrete phase, and plasma engineering problems.
Interpret simulation results and provide guidance to design.
Translate function specifications into required physics-based model capabilities.
Contribute, participate and define conceptual design during specification phases and ensure design qualifies & work as intended in validation phases.
Identify experiments required for model validation.
Work independently and manage projects as needed.

Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in mechanical, chemical, or aeronautical engineering with a specialization in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). Master's degree or PhD. preferred.
Extensive experience in mesh generating using StarCCM+ and SnappyHexMesh.
Experience with commercial CFD tools, e.g., StarCCM+ or Fluent.
Experience with open source CFD tools (OpenFOAM).
Experience in performing Plasma-Gas Interaction, Conjugated Heat Transfer (CHT), Multiphysics (Lagrangian, Volume of Fluid) in rarified gas regime.
Experience working in multi-disciplinary team.
Demonstrated experience with automation of design processes including CFD pre-and post-processing.
Experience with writing user sub-routines using Java, C++ and python.
Experience with verification and validation of CFD analysis models with experimental analysis.
Demonstrated creativity in solving complex design problems.
Experienced with Siemens- Amesim desired.
Experience in working with Siemens NX desired.
Experience in PLM software - Siemens Teamcenter desired
Ability to translate, statistically analyze data, and effectively report problems through written and/or graphical formats is required.
Skills

The current base annual salary range for this role is currently:
$117,000-195,000Pay scales are determined by role, level, location and alignment with market data. (ARA) is seeking a Fluid Dynamics Subject Matter Expert to be an expert with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) codes such as ANSYS ®, LS-DYNA®, CFX ®, FLUENT ®. The position develops in-depth technical assessments and models of utilities for WMD facilities using multiple intelligence sources and analytical tools. The successful candidate will perform research and development in advancing models of processes associated with the production of WMD materials and the processes associated with operation of WMD facilities. The goal of the research is to support investigations into the behavior of those processes and advance investigations into the vulnerabilities of those processes. The position requires providing technical Reachback support to operational planners to support tactical and strategic planning. The position also provides occasional training to share expertise with junior counterparts and supports exercises to test new methodologies and analytical tools that are under development.
Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within or lead a team of peers, as well as excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
- Ability to communicate highly technical analyses at a level comprehensible to laymen and senior-level government representatives.
- Ability to clearly express in writing technical analysis results and site characterizations.
- Expertise with ANSYS ®, LS-DYNA®, CFX ®, FLUENT ®.
- 6 - 8 years of experience in solving DoD engineering/science problems.
- Practical experience in mechanical engineering structural modeling or fluid modeling.
- Direct experience supporting reverse engineering, threat analysis and vulnerability assessments of WMD-related facilities, processes and infrastructure (to include underground facilities).
- Expert knowledge and use of Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Modeling and simulation expertise with weaponeering and engineering analysis tools or similar.
- Research and Development of new tools and methodologies to understand and reverse engineer processes and support systems at remote WMD-related facilities.
- TS clearance with eligibility for SCI based upon a SSBI in the last five years.

The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs.
**Responsibilities**
Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:
+ Responsible for development and maintenance of fluid flow analysis models and pipe stress analysis models in support of Mobile Launcher 2 (ML-2) operational readiness and sustaining.
+ Ensure tubing and piping systems are safe for operation and comply with relevant codes and standards such as ASME B31.3.
+ Provide technical engineering direction for the Mechanical/Fluids Analysis department including design, analysis, implementation, and operational support.
+ Depending on the project type, tasks can vary between conceptual design, revisions to existing designs, and/or modifications to existing structures, fluids subsystems, or Ground Support Equipment (GSE).
+ Through flow analysis, pipe stress analysis, and fundamental hand calculations, assure that systems/facilities operate in a safe and appropriate manner, and comply with all applicable NASA, federal, and industry codes/standards.
+ Prepare all essential design/analysis documentation required for a complete and viable engineering package - particularly authoring of a comprehensive Design Analysis Report (DAR).
+ Review and provide comment to engineering models, methodologies, and deliverables from colleagues within, and occasionally outside, the Mechanical/Fluids Analysis department.
+ Troubleshoot equipment/system anomalies using available data and/or testing results.
+ Guide technicians through repairs and system operations referencing specific functional, maintenance, repair, and test procedures.
+ Successfully interface with the NASA customer and other client representatives by supporting or presenting at a variety of Engineering Review Boards.
+ Manage completion of tasks on-schedule and within budget to the customer's satisfaction.
+ Support construction activities to validate compliance with engineering drawings and contract documents.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
**Qualifications - External**
Bachelor of Science (BS) in Engineering or technical equivalent from an accredited institution; at least four years of experience.

+ This is a mid-level engineering position with a required four (4) or more years of relevant analysis experience within the disciplines of fluid flow and pipe stress analysis.
+ Proficiency with the use of standard industry software packages such as AFT Arrow, AutoPIPE, and/or CAESAR II is required.
+ Practical knowledge of applicable ASME industry standards and codes such as ASME B31.1 and ASME B31.3 is required.
+ Experience with pneumatics systems and/or cryogenics piping design and analysis is desired.
+ Ability to perform complex hand calculations is required.
+ With limited guidance, must be capable of utilizing engineering concepts and advanced analysis techniques in order to gather data and write technical dispositions to bring systems/structures to their desired working fidelity.
+ Excellent technical writing, communication, presentation, and customer interface skills.

+ Operate computer terminals, personal computers, and related computer peripheral equipment to maintain/adjust database logs and records, print documents and record work performance.
+ Personal computer, scanner, copy machine, telephone, laser printer, fax machine, and other office equipment including desk supplies.
**Attendance**
+ Work assignments are normally 8 hours shifts, 5 consecutive days per week.
+ Must be dependable and punctual.
+ Occasional overtime, sometimes with short notice, is required to meet demanding schedule
