Job Summary
Battelle is seeking a Research Engineer in our Defense and Material Solutions (DMS) Business Line within our National Security Business Unit. This position supports the Advanced Materials and Energetics (AME) Division and the Systems Development, Modernization and Prototyping (SDMP) Division. The Research Engineer will design, analyze, test, evaluate, and maintain mechanical and electrical components and systems. The Engineer will research, plan, design, and develop mechanical products and systems such as instruments and controls for robotic or autonomous/unmanned systems.
Active areas of Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E) for this position include Unmanned, Robotic, and/or Autonomous Systems, Sensor/Payload Integration, Artificial Intelligence, Multi-Vehicle Interactions, and Autonomous/Semi-Autonomous Heavy Equipment Operations in Hazardous Environments (such as explosive ordnance and Civil Engineering Operations).
This position is contingent upon contract award and will be located on-site at Tyndall Air Force Base, near Panama City, FL .
Responsibilities
- Performs assignments of moderate complexity by compiling and evaluating design and test data, preparing technical specifications, analyzing technical data to determine appropriate limits and variables for product, process or materials specifications.
- Interprets, compiles and analyzes data collected and writes various technical reports.
- Completes assigned project work within schedule and budget constraints.
- Assists with proposal efforts as needed.
- Builds relationships with internal clients.
- Contributes to Internal Research and Development studies (as needed).
- Supports business development efforts led by others
- May oversee lower-level staff in extracting and preparing data for analysis.
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical/electrical engineering, computer science, electronics or related field with at least 2 years of experience or master's degree in related field; or an equivalent combination of education and or experience in a related field.
- Experience in preparing research and test plans, writing technical papers, executing RDT&E.
- Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
- At least 5 years of RDT&E experience since graduation related to unmanned systems, autonomous systems, sensor/payload integration or software/hardware integration.
- Experience in writing technical papers and executing RDT&E activities independently.

About This RoleGalois is hiring a Software Engineer/Researcher to join our team! This role will primarily focus on advancing the state of the art in programming language theory research and implementation. Researchers in this role will use their expertise in Formal Methods and Programming Languages to conduct rigorous formal verification of software and systems, ensuring they meet the highest security standards.
ResponsibilitiesAs a Research Engineer, you will have the following responsibilities:
- Requirements gathering: engaging the client in a series of discussions, where each iteration refines the needs of the client, and leads to the suggestion of means to meet those needs.
- Architecture and design: constructing high-level architectural descriptions of software systems, and constructing deeper program designs by fleshing out architecture prototypes. Architectures must be designed with assurance in mind, determining where and how formal methods are to be applied.
- Implementation: extending design prototypes through to a finished product, with care taken to ensure robustness and ease of use.
- Formal verification: use mechanical reasoning tools such as theorem provers and model checkers to demonstrate or analyze desired security and correctness properties of systems.
- Testing and validation: constructing and regularly conducting system, unit, and regression tests, and conducting semi-formal validation and verification.
- Technology research and development: conducting speculative research and development of cutting-edge technology, and incorporating that technology in product prototypes.

Job Summary
The Neuromechanics and Applied Locomotion Research Group at the University of Utah is seeking a full-time staff-level Research Engineer. This individual will work across a variety of funded research studies examining balance, locomotion, and rehabilitation. The role will focus on developing and supporting new devices to study balance control, including new perturbation devices and instrumentation. The position will also provide technical data management and quality control support for ongoing clinical trials using wearable sensors, and assist with data collections during human subjects research studies as needed. - Participate in technical meetings as required.
- Support the preparation of technical reports and papers.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or closely related field
- Experience in a computer language such as Python or Matlab

- Experience installing and commissioning mechanical equipment

Battelle is seeking a **Research Engineer** in our Defense and Material Solutions (DMS) Business Line within our National Security Business Unit. This position supports the Advanced Materials and Energetics (AME) Division and the Systems Development, Modernization and Prototyping (SDMP) Division. **The Research Engineer** will design, analyze, test, evaluate, and maintain mechanical and electrical components and systems. The Engineer will research, plan, design, and develop mechanical products and systems such as instruments and controls for robotic or autonomous/unmanned systems.
Active areas of Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E) for this position include Unmanned, Robotic, and/or Autonomous Systems, Sensor/Payload Integration, Artificial Intelligence, Multi-Vehicle Interactions, and Autonomous/Semi-Autonomous Heavy Equipment Operations in Hazardous Environments (such as explosive ordnance and Civil Engineering Operations).
