We are seeking a detail-oriented and innovative R&D Technician to support our product development initiatives in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. This role is ideal for individuals with a four-year education in food sciences and 0-3 years of industry experience.
Responsibilities
+ Assist in the development and testing of new food products, formulations, and processes.
+ Reverse engineering of baked products.
+ Prepare and execute bench-top prototypes and pilot plant trials.
+ Conduct sensory evaluations and shelf-life studies.
+ Maintain accurate records of formulations, test results, and procedures.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Quality Assurance, Production, and Marketing.
+ Support scale-up activities from lab to production.

Essential Skills
+ 4-year degree in food science with internships.
+ 1-3 years of industry food science experience preferred.
+ Strong understanding of food ingredients, processing techniques, and safety protocols.
+ Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with analytical lab equipment and food testing methods.
+ Familiarity with HACCP, GMP, and FDA/USDA regulations.

Work Environment

This is a family-owned company with a small R&D team, offering mentorship in the art of reverse engineering products and upscaling them into the production process.

POSITION SUMMARY

The QA Technologist is responsible for completing product testing and compliance reports for the CKE Quality Assurance Product Compliance Program. This role provides technical support to CKE’s Product Development teams by assisting in reviewing, handling, and preparing procedures of existing products or reintroducing products through laboratory and test kitchen analysis.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

May perform any or all of the following duties:

  • Conduct laboratory testing of CKE food products and record data
  • Maintains daily laboratory calibration log for all lab equipment
  • Schedules annual laboratory equipment calibration with 3rd Party Vendor
  • Monitors test kitchen and lab inventory through ordering products

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (list is not exhaustive of all duties/functions):

  • Responsibilities:
  • High capacity to learn dry ingredients blending and formulating.
  • Organize and track requests/receipt of raw materials and document for R&D bench samples, pilot runs, and production launches.
  • Review raw material documentation for accuracy and R&D requirements.
  • Periodic organoleptic testing, including application of dry blends on items such as meat, dairy, seafood, and poultry.

  • Knowledge of the Genesis Nutrition Program and Batch Master is advantageous.
  • Requires lifting to 25 lbs.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in food science or another related field with hands-on experience is preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of food safety and regulatory compliance in (BRC, HACCP, and GMPs).
  • Experience and familiarity working in a Food Lab preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable with algebra-level math.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.

**You Bring:**

Muenster Milling is hiring for a dedicated and experienced Production Supervisor at our newest Freeze-Dried facility in Denton, Texas. The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of the daily operations in the Freeze-Dried room, including collaborating with all functional areas within the business to drive continuous improvement to achieve key KPIs, best organize workflows and analyze the efficiency of manufacturing processes, under the supervision of the Production Manager. This role requires strong leadership skills, a commitment to operational excellence, and the ability to problem-solve in a fast-paced environment.

This is a hands-on position working alongside their team; not an office-based role.This role requires supervision of 8+ employees. This is a full-time salary exempt position to support our production expansion. The expansion will include a shift in our working schedule and the proposed schedule and expectation is that you can manage a team on this schedule: 2-2-3 shift (Week 1: Monday/Tuesday working, Wednesday/Thursday off, Friday/Saturday/Sunday working; Week 2: Monday/Tuesday off, Wednesday/Thursday working, Friday/Saturday/Sunday off).

You will train alongside the current Production leaders supporting our current daytime shift starting at 7:00am, Monday-Friday, with some Saturdays. Flexibility to work overtime, weekends and holidays is required per production schedule.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage, oversee team responsible for production processes including oversight of the daily workflow, scheduling, responsibility alignment, and completion of assignments to meet production output.
  • Leading team and facilitate the organization's strategy for cultivating a fully engaged workforce through training, engagement, motivating, and contributing to team effort.
  • Provides performance oversight, safety monitoring, and constructive and timely performance feedback.
  • Develops production plans and procedures while driving production performance by establishing daily, weekly, and monthly goals, to ensure that internal and external customer needs are met.
  • Maintains knowledge of processes and equipment, troubleshoots issues that arise, notifies maintenance department of equipment problems, and ensures that employees comply with applicable safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Regularly performs verification of production output, quality, volume, and efficiencies according to specifications while preparing analysis to management as needed.
  • Create policies or procedures for production activities while identifying issues and opportunities for improvements while partnering with related functional areas to develop new strategies to streamline processes and reduce cost by maximizing the efficiency and effectiveness of product movement between manufacturing, warehousing, and ultimately, customer delivery.
  • Provides manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data; answering questions and responding to requests.
  • Ensures all required paperwork is completed and signed correctly.
  • Ensures that employees comply with applicable safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintains a safe and clean work environment while ensuring quality, quantity, customer satisfaction, and financial commitments are met.
  • Participates and owns portion of recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Personal Characteristics:

  • 2+ years in a Supervisory capacity with demonstrated successful results.
  • 3+ years of experience working in a production or warehouse environment, food production highly preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of or the ability to quickly learn production operations and machinery.
  • Excellent supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Strong analytical, oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software including Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Must be extremely organized, detail oriented, able to multi-task, and prioritize multiple projects/tasks.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and effectively
  • Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of Food safety and sanitation protocols and procedures
  • Ability to work under pressure and make effective decisions
  • Ability and willingness to work in a team environment as well as with limited supervision
  • Commitment to complete work within established time parameters and within budget while flexible enough to meet special project deadlines as required
  • As needed, must be able to work all shifts, weekends, holidays as required in emergencies and all other times as needed or assigned.

  • Bilingual - Spanish/English is a plus.

  • Adhere to SQF, FSMA, Sanitation, GMP's and HACCP requirements.
  • Follow the Company's procedures and processes for food safety and worker safety.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will regularly work within a plant environment. The work requires the ability to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, and talk and listen. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud in plant.

Position will be based in our Denton manufacturing facility at 2269 N Masch Branch Rd., Denton, TX 76207. The position is based FT in assigned production area, maintained at <40 degrees.
