Job Description

  • Review and evaluate detailed financial statements and financial data (statements of revenue and expense, forecasts & budgets, production reports, etc.) in order to create a comprehensive analysis.
  • Create Excel schedules using financial information provided which will be used in the measurement of business interruption losses.
  • Review detailed invoices and purchase orders, organize supporting documentation, and input data to track costs incurred.
  • Analyze revenue and expenses to create projection models.
  • Assist in inputting financial data and organize large amounts of financial data both paper and electronic to be used in review.
  • Communicating results of analysis to supervisors and/or clients.
  • Assist in the preparation of written reports and written narratives to be sent to clients.
  • Attend client meetings (telephone, online, or in-person) and communicate findings in meetings to clients and team members. In-person meetings can require travel to loss location sites and client offices.
  • Majority of travel will be day-travel in local region, however some overnight travel can be required throughout continental U.S.
  • Respond and travel to large-loss catastrophic event locations when safe to do so.
  • Assist with other assignments ranging from unusual insurance claim-related matters to various litigation projects.

Qualifications

A reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role is $50,000 - $5,000. Any offered salary range is based on a wide array of factors including but not limited to skillset, experience, training, location, scope of role, management responsibility, etc.

A typical day as a Forensic Accounting Director might include the following:

  1. Assist with developing opportunities to grow our Fraud & Forensic Advisory practice by identifying referral relationships with law firms and attorneys, drafting articles/white papers, and leveraging other business development techniques.

The Forensic and Litigation Associates work as a member of the Client Services group and can expect a diverse experience ranging from accounting procedures for litigation engagements to the performance of business appraisal and valuation services. This position performs many duties of an advance level forensic accountant including working directly for corporate clients, under the supervision of upper level management.

Essential Functions and Primary Duties

  • Performance of preliminary valuation, forensic, and appraisal analyses, including development of comparative adjusted financial statements and data input for expert witness exhibits.
  • Knowledgeable of the relevant statutory and family codes and their applicability to accounting principles in performance of forensic accounting.
  • Participate in client assignments from beginning to end.
  • Create forensic and economics models for presentation of forensic standard accounting system.
  • Identify and communicate case issues, finding, and improvement opportunities with managers and partners to resolve client issues discovered during engagements.
  • Work with discovery team to inventory and reconcile documents and data produced in preparation for submission to courts, attorneys and clients
  • Assist in preparation of exhibits and background information for expert witness testimony
  • Maintain and comply with highest degree of professional standards, client confidentiality and personal conduct.
  • They will participate in training and developing staff and building a team-centered client service team; monitor client issues related to compliance services and monitor engagement status and profitability as well as attending to clients expectation

Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Manager with five plus years of experience (public accounting preferred) to work within our Investigative Accounting Group. We offer a flexible, hybrid work environment.

The majority of our engagements involve working with commercial property insurers to evaluate physical damage and business income losses suffered by businesses as a result of catastrophic events. Projects may include reviewing and analyzing historical financial and industry information, revenue and expense projections, insurance claim evaluations, economic damage evaluations, fraud and fidelity, and forensic examinations. Assignments provide exposure to a wide range of industries from small local retail stores to multinational entities. In addition, we provide expertise to insurers and attorneys across a vast array of areas including fraud services, litigation support, dispute resolution, and catastrophic response.

In this role, the Forensic Accounting Manager will have a number of responsibilities, including, but not limited to:

  • Managing multiple, concurrent assignments
  • Supervising the analysis and schedule preparation of staff
  • Building solid technical accounting skills, as well as an understanding of complex property damage, business interruption, and extra expense claims
  • Developing business contacts and networking
  • Recruiting, training and developing staff

  • Hold a Bachelor or advanced degree (Accounting or Finance preferred)
  • CPA license preferred but not required
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office (particularly Microsoft Excel)
  • Possess exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Travel overnight, as needed (approximately 20%)

Determining actual compensation relies on many factors including individual candidate experience, qualifications, and comparable benchmarks. Base compensation for this role typically ranges between $110,000 a d 140,000.
