**Salary/Pay Rate/Compensation:** $30/hr + depending on experience
**What's a typical day as a Japanese Translator?**
+ Utilize expert and fluent knowledge of Japanese and English to provide clear oral and written communications across cultures for Japanese staff-related functions and business travelers from Japan.
+ Reproducing statements in another language for unique listening or reading audienceFacilitating effective communication between two parties that do not speak a similar language.
+ Attending conferences and meetings and acting as official translator to mediate discussion
+ Accurately explaining policies, laws, regulations, and procedures of corporate, government, health and medical, housing, social, and educational agencies.
+ Including Passports and visas, medical billing, insurance, HR Orientations, Tax Return Support
+ Relaying concepts and ideas between languages.
+ Reporting to the Language Services Manager

**Who are we seeking?**
We are seeking a skilled and professional Japanese Translator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for simultaneously translating written and spoken communication from English to Japanese and Japanese to English. The role requires not only language proficiency but also a deep understanding of cultural nuances to ensure accurate and effective communication.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Translate documents, presentations, emails, and other forms of communication from English to Japanese and vice versa.
- Interpret during meetings, conferences, and phone calls as needed.
- Ensure that the translated content is culturally appropriate and maintains the original meaning and tone.
- Proofread and edit translations to ensure accuracy and consistency
- Collaborate with other team members to support cross-cultural communication.
- Conduct research on industry-specific terminology to ensure clear and precise translation.
- Meet deadlines and manage multiple translation projects simultaneously.
**Requirements:**
- Proven experience as a Japanese Translator or in a similar role.
- Excellent proficiency in Japanese and English (both written and spoken).
- Strong understanding of cultural differences and the ability to adapt translations accordingly.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in using translation software/tools is a plus.
- Optional: Any relevant certification such as JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test) N1 is preferred.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Job Summary:
As a Japanese Interpreter / Translator - Engineering Support, your primary responsibility is translating and editing various business documents, such as corporate communications, internal/external presentations, proposals, and contracts from one language to another. You will also authenticate and produce documents that adhere to company style guides and quality standards. In addition, the role involves conducting terminology and linguistic research and maintaining a terminology database using memory software tools. Furthermore, you will serve as an interpreter for spoken communications. Because of the critical need for these roles, we are investing in relocation packages for the right candidates who are looking to make their home in the beautiful greater Kansas City metro area.
Secondary Responsibilities: The additional or concurrent responsibilities involve providing technical support for manufacturing in one or more areas, encompassing construction and production. Close collaboration with construction or production teams is vital to ensure seamless project execution, timely production or engineering deliverables delivery, and effective communication among all stakeholders.
Essential Duties:
- Interpret between Japanese expats and domestic staff.
- Supply interpretation for various meetings as well as telephone conferences.
- Translate technical and non-technical documents including policies, instructions, and manuals when necessary.
- Compose and translate emails, reports, and various administrative functions.
- Ability to translate from Japanese to English and English to Japanese
- Possess the capability to work outside the standard business hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (CST) as necessitated by business demands and supporting Japan team members.
- Willingness to work in a construction environment and wear proper PPE (no construction/Engineering activities are included in the position).
- Your meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational abilities will significantly contribute to the success of our production or engineering projects.
- The shifting of focus between primary and secondary responsibilities is expected. Maintaining close collaboration with your team and being readily available to offer support as necessary is essential. Moreover, you are expected to fulfill any associated responsibilities within the scope of your professional practice.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements:
- To ensure the health and safety in the workplace and for the protection of our employees, wearing PPE is a possibility and may include equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, bump cap, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator.
